Prayer - Part 3; Final

The Purpose of Prayer

Psalms 141:2 - Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Throughout the three-part lesson we've covered Prayer as a whole. What prayer is, how people can use it, when to use it, and where to use it. To wrap it all up in a neat bow, we will now go over the purpose of prayer. Why God gives us all such a precious gift.

Prayer is key in communication with our Lord and Savior. It is a powerful life-line, one that can be used in a multitude of ways. To ask the Lord for things, to thank Him, or to just talk with Him. The purpose of prayer is to maintain that connection with God, to nourish your spirit and keep you going.

Even when you're at your lowest low in life, keep praying to strengthen that one-on-one bond you share with Him.

What will suffer without prayer is the life of the Son of God in you, which is nourished not by food like our physical body, but by prayer. When a person is born again into a new creature, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life. Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished.

To come into a deep spiritual meeting with God in prayer is what we call ACTS. With each letter standing for something more, something that in your walk with God will become natural as time goes on.

A - Adoration; Adore God, love Him and praise Him for who He is.

1 Chronicles 29:11 - Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Our Lord is a loving, wonderful, and merciful God! He is kind and understanding, and will always be there for you even when you've shunned Him, or others have turned their backs on you. He wants you to know that you can always come to Him about anything, and that He will listen.

C - Confession; Admit your sins to God, ask for His forgiveness through faith that Jesus died for our sins.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Come to Him with humbleness, open your heart to the Lord and He will always be there waiting and ready to forgive. No matter what you've done, or whatever you find yourself constantly stuck in, go to Him. God is the only one that can give your mind and body peace.

T - Thanksgiving; Thank God for answered prayers and for the good things He has done in your life for growth.

Matthew 7:7-8 - Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

So many are blessed with the life God has given them; even if you're going through hard times, you are blessed. God knows you better than anyone, He's the one that melded you into the person you are today - whether you fully realize that or not. He knows all. He knows what you can handle and what you cannot. Most things in life are a test of faith, to see if you will turn away from Him or stay with Him through the thick and thin. So even if the whole world around you is falling apart beyond your control, you'll give it all to Him and let Him take care of you.

Answered prayers are all around you. Proof that God's hand is on you is that you're alive and well able to read this right now. Show thanks and don't take this life for granted. Do what He would have you to do. Thank Him today, because although your prayers may have not been answered yet, He still listens. He always listens, and that blessing will come when you need it the most.

S - Supplication; Pray for your family and friends, for those who are sick or sad. Pray for those who are not Christians yet. Pray for your own spiritual growth and any other needs that you may have.

Ephesians 5:20 - Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

The key goal of this lesson is: to never stop praying. When you stop praying, your Prayer Warrior becomes weak and open for the enemy to come in and attack. Your whole life will suffer, including those around you. Because your prayers are powerful, your prayer for someone may be that extra word to help save them.

Pray always, and with a humble heart. Pray for everyone; your family, friends, co-workers, teachers, bystanders, and even your enemies. Put God first and watch him perform miracles around you. There is no limit to God's awesome power, so believe in Him and have faith that what you pray for will come true.

Kick the devil out of your way and keep going with your head held high, never running away from life's troubles. You are precious in God's eyes, and there is no one else in the WORLD that's like you. You are an irreplaceable treasure, and He wants you to know that.

Look around you and see the beauty God created. Pray to Him today to thank Him, or just to talk and build your relationship with Him.

A prayer to hold in your heart:

Lord, I just want to thank you and love you for all of the things you have done for me in my life. Thank you for dying for me, so that I may have life. I'm sorry for my mistakes, and I pray that you will help strengthen me in my walk with you, Father. I pray for my loved ones Lord, please continue to watch over them and keep them safe from all evil. I pray for lost loved ones Lord, I pray that they will be given a way to seek you Father. To know your grace and your merciful love. Thank you for listening to me and guiding me on the right path. Amen.
