Harry yawned as he woke up, he looked around and found that he wasn't waking up in the hospital wing, or his Slytherin room and not even his room at the Tonks family house. No, he was in Number Twelve Grimmauld place, in a bedroom that he had been told belonged to Sirius's deceased brother, Regulus Black. They all had to sneak in quietly last night or risk waking up the portrait of Sirius's mother, who was apparently quite the screamer.

There was plenty of room in the house since it was fairly large even before it had been magically expanded, and the only other two people in the house at the moment were Remus and Sirius. Ted and Andromeda had gotten their own room together, Tonks had offered to share one with Harry but Harry had politely refused and requested a separate room, it wasn't even that he didn't want to spend time with Tonks, Harry just needed some time to himself. All in all, Harry didn't really mind the taste that Regulus had, the room was designed to be comforting for a Slytherin, which Harry fortunately was.

Despite this, Harry was not happy with the situation at all, he didn't want to be in this old room (even if it was the only one in the house that didn't need to be cleaned). At this point in the summer he should have been in the Tonks family home with Andromeda, Ted and Nym, laughing at something on TV and eating Andromeda's delicious food. But no...he was in this stuffy house because he couldn't risk Voldemort attacking his house and the Tonks family. The worst part was that Harry could actually understand why they were doing this, it wasn't like they were being ridiculously paranoid. For all Harry knew it was possible for Voldemort to somehow start believing that the key to getting Harry to join him would be to take out all of Harry's family.

"Are you going to wake up yet?" Jet asked, sat on a chair by a desk.

"No," Harry said as he curled up in bed, pulling the covers as close to himself as possible, enjoying the warm feeling. "I am a warm and toasty cinnamon bun right now, I'm also likely to hex the first person to stop me from being one." Harry added before closing his eyes and staying in bed for another half an hour, which in Harry's opinion was fine since he always woke up earlier than everyone else.

Harry let out a small sigh as he sat up, at night he hadn't worn anything beyond a pair of knee length, black shorts. Harry took his wand and quickly cast some basic cleaning spells on himself.

He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and stood up, once he was standing he started stretching before Thor flew onto his shoulder, Harry looked at the young thunderbird and saw that he was now roughly the same size as a cockatoo bird, Harry had been expecting him to be bigger by now based off how big an average thunderbird could get. So far Harry theorized that they were either late bloomers or the familiar bond somehow affected Thor's aging process, as long as Thor was happy and healthy Harry couldn't say that he minded too much.

"You ready for breakfast little guy?" Harry whispered to Thor as he put on a pair of indoor slippers and picked up a shirt and slung it over his free shoulder, Thor let out a happy trill in response and playfully nibbled on Harry's ear. "I'll take that as a yes." Harry chuckled before he picked up Jet and let him wrap around his left arm. "Hedwig," Harry spoke to his white owl that was still resting on a perch. "you want to eat now or should I bring some food back for you later?" Harry asked, Hedwig wasn't exactly a familiar but she was smart enough that she might as well have been.

"Hoot, hoot." Hedwig replied.

"Two hoots, so that's the second one?" Harry asked.

"Hoot." Hedwig confirmed with a nod.

"Fair enough." Harry nodded before he walked out of the room, and walked down stairs. As soon as he got down the curtains that had been covering the portrait of Sirius's mother flung open, the portrait of Walburga Black was about to start screaming and shouting but stopped when she caught sight of Harry.

"Is...is that a thunderbird...and...and a snake?" She said with copious amounts of disbelief.

"Yes." Harry nodded.

"This is your godfather's mother? She looks unpleasant, even by my low standards for humans." Jet hissed.

"I'm not going to argue with you on that particular belief." Harry hissed back.

"A...p...a parslemouth?!" Walburga gasped.

"Yep." Harry said before he removed his wand and flicked it, causing the curtains to close. "Now that that's done, off to breakfast." Harry said before he walked into the kitchen. "Morning." Harry said, greeting everyone, he was slightly surprised to see that everyone was already awake and eating breakfast. All apart from Roman who Harry knew was staying here with Sirius.

"Morning, did you wake up just now?" Ted asked.

"Nah, half an hour ago, I just didn't want to get out of bed." Harry said as he stopped by the first available seat, Thor hopped off of Harry's shoulder and glided down to the table while Jet slithered off of Harry's arm and onto the table, allowing Harry to put his shirt on.

"You should put some more clothes on," Tonks suggested. "you'll get cold."

"Not really, I have these wonderful things called warming charms." Harry said as he started eating once Flipsy and Dobby placed some food on the table for Harry and his familiars.

"Those elves of yours are wonderful." Sirius told Harry. "They actually do work!"

"That is the point of house elves, is it not?" Harry asked after swallowing down his food.

"What Sirius is referring to is the house elf that lives here," Remus – who was also staying in the house - began explaining. "he's...well...he's not fond of Sirius."

"That's putting it mildly." Sirius snorted. "The best we were able to do is get the elf to agree to leave us alone, since I'm not Lord Black I have limited authority over him, he obeys me because I'm a Black but he doesn't like me at all. Never has, not even when I was a kid. Would trip over himself to help my 'dear' mother or my perfect brother, but treated me like dirt."

"Hold on, so this elf does no work around here?" Harry asked in a disbelieving voice.

"Not really." Sirius shrugged.

"And we're letting him stay here? Fuck that." Harry said as he stood up.

"What are you doing?" Tonks asked.

"Dealing with the freeloader," Harry answered before turning to Sirius. "call the elf."

"Um...okay, Kreatcher." Sirius called before an elf popped into the room, he was quite old and nasty looking compared to other elves.

"Horrible master calls Kreatcher?" The elf asked, glaring at Sirius.

"Kreatcher," Harry spoke and the elf looked at him. "we need to talk."

"Filthy son of a mudblood wishes to speak with Kreatcher?" Kreatcher said, looking at Harry as if the very sight of him was horribly disgusting.

"Kreatcher, don't be rude!" Andromeda admonished as she glared at the elf, she was about to say more but Kreatcher continued speaking.

"Bad blood-traitor talks to Kreatcher? She should..." That was about as much as Kreatcher was able to get out before he found himself blasted backwards.

"I..." Harry raised a hand to stop the others from moving. "...will handle this."

"You just blasted him across the room." Sirius blinked.

"He insulted both of my mothers." Harry shrugged before he flicked his wand and Kreatcher was suddenly lifted into the air and pulled forwards until he was hovering a few inches away from Harry. "Do you know who I am, elf?" Harry asked.

"Yous be filfthy mud..."

"Wrong!" Harry snapped, causing Kreatcher to be quiet. "I am Lord Potter, and heir to the most Ancient and Noble house of Black! And you will treat me with the respect I deserve!"

"Kreatcher is..."

"A disgrace!" Harry cut him off. "This house is a house that belongs to the noble house of Black, and you were in charge of caring for it! Why is it such a dump then?! You don't deserve to serve us, nor do you deserve to stay in this house." Harry said, he knew he got a reaction when Kreatchers eyes widened in fear and worry. "Say your goodbyes because I'm going to give you clothes."

"No!" Kreatcher cried, looking incredibly scared. "Don't give Kreatcher clothes!"

"My house elves have earned their keep, they've worked. You haven't cleaned this house and yet have the nerve to insult the guests in this house, including those born into the Black family?!" Harry demanded. "How dare you speak to Andromeda like that when she's not only my mother but also a witch that has been born into the Black family? Sirius may be a colossal prat..."

"Hey!" Sirius cried.

"But he's a member of the Black family, you will treat him and everyone with the respect they deserve!" Harry continued, ignoring Sirius. "You get one chance, elf, just one. Fix up or get kicked out, is that understood?"

"Y...yes Master." Kreatcher gulped.

"Good, now apologize to those you've insulted, and you had better mean it." Harry said before he not so gently dropped Kreatcher on the floor.

"Kreatcher...Kreatcher is sorry." Kreatcher apologised.

"Good, now go until you're called." Harry ordered.

"Yes Master." Kreatcher gave him a low bow before popping away.

"Well, that's one problem solved. Anything else I have to fix?" Harry asked in a casual voice as he sat down and continued eating.

"What was that?" Remus asked in a surprised voice.

"Basic behaviour," Harry shrugged. "wolves obey an alpha because he's strong and cares for them, humans obey their families and employers because they're in positions of superiority. That elf has clearly forgotten who his masters are, and if he's going to be staying in this house without paying rent then he needs to work since he's not family, a pet or a familiar."

"Yes, we're exempt!" Jet said happily to Thor.

"Harry, I noticed you referred to me as mother repeatedly, have some more food." Andromeda said with a bright smile as she put more food on Harry's plate.

"Yay!" Harry grinned before leaning forward and kissing Andromeda's cheek, causing her to beam.

"By the way is there anywhere in this house where I can practise my spells?" Harry asked Sirius as he sat back.

"Um yeah, down in the basement." Sirius answered.

"Good, anyone want to practise with me after breakfast?" Harry asked.

"You shouldn't practise immediately after breakfast." Andromeda frowned.

"I'll wait half an hour first." Harry said with a smile. "So, anyone up for it?" Harry asked.

"I'll take you on." Tonks said with a grin.

"Great, by the way, Angela has asked if she could stay for the summer." Harry asked in a casual voice.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" Ted asked.

"Angela wants to stay over, she's apparently been quite worried about something happening while I'm out of her sight." Harry replied. "I'd like it if she comes here, can she?"

"I'm in favour of it!" Tonks grinned.

"Yes but your hardly the picture of responsibility." Andromeda replied.

"By the way if it helps any I should point out that Angela is not my girlfriend, that's Daphne." Harry added.

"That does help somewhat." Ted said to Andromeda.

"Ted and I shall think about it." Andromeda told Harry.

"That's good enough." Harry smiled just before Roman entered the room with a yawn.

"Good morning." Roman said as he scratched the back of his head, only to stop when he saw Harry. "Oh, Harry...I..."

"Eat your breakfast then wait half an hour and come down to the basement." Harry told Roman.

"Oh...okay, why?" Roman asked.

"You need to start bloody practising if you're still planning to stay a ward of the family." Harry replied.

"Oh, got it." Roman nodded, knowing that the wards on the building stopped the trace from detecting if he used magic or not. "Does that mean you're going to teach me?" He asked hopefully.

"You know that I can teach you magic as well?" Sirius asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, but you've never killed a dragon or survived the worst dark lord in history at the age of fourteen." Roman replied.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"…"

"Fair enough."

"By the way guys," Sirius said later that day. "I'm so sorry, I forgot to talk to you guys about this but I've given Dumbledore permission to hold his 'Order of the Phoenix' meetings here in exchange for helping out with the wards." Sirius said before explaining that the 'Order' was a group of wizards and witches that Dumbledore created to combat Voldemort during the last war.

"Okay, fair enough." Harry replied.

"Great, oh and the Weasley's are staying here for the summer because I..."

"What?!" Harry, Tonks and Roman blurted out, cutting off Sirius. Meanwhile Ted began rubbing his eyes while Andromeda face palmed.

"Ah, I sense I've made a mistake." Sirius frowned after taking in everybody's reaction.

"Before we continue with this I'm going to go and tell Angela she can come over," Harry said as he stood up. "no way am I staying in here with Weasley's without back up, excuse me. I'll be back to hex Sirius in a minute."
