Chapter 33

It was like walking through fire.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~An hour earlier
Aelin was eager to hear what Rowan had to say as she donned the white dress with several gold accents.
She just didn't know he would be speechless.
They held hands for a few seconds as Aelin looked him up and down.
You clean up well.
No response.
"Sorry, it's just-you're mesmerizing. And you're mine," He added with a feral grin.
Aelin let herself blush.
"We join today in holy..."
They didn't listen. Aelin and Rowan were getting lost in the sparkle of each other's eyes- as if it were the last time they'd see it.
"Do you take Aelin Ashryver Galathynius to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"Do you take Rowan Whitethorn Galathynius to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
She smiled, the sun catching on her pearly white teeth as she bonded herself to Rowan once more, "I do."
Rowan winked at her before he enveloped her face in his scarred hands and kissed his wife.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Thank you," Aelin said to yet another Terrasen citizen.

She gripped Rowan's hand hard as she felt something in her stomach.

Are you okay?

Yeah. That was a lie.

It had been four times now, four times that Aelin had felt the stabbing pain in her stomach that left her feeling light headed.

"Congratulations Your Majesty," A brown haired woman said.

"Thank you," Rowan said. Aelin just nodded.

"Time to cut the cake!" Aedion yelled from the other side of the park.

"Let's go," Rowan put his hand on her back rubbing in circles.

So they walked, she painfully took a step at a time towards the table with the five-tiered white cake.

"I'm so happy for you guys!" Lysandra said giving Aelin the knife.

She went to go take it from her, but her hands started shaking much to her dismay.

She could hear chatters of her name but her hearing was slowly becoming as it was in that coffin.

And her eyes rolled back before she fell to the ground.

It was like walking through fire.
