Chapter 51 (Edited)

The bundles stopped for a short time and we were given dinner. For dinner, we were first served with some fancy appetizers. The name was so hard to pronounce that I gave it a name of my own. I introduce to you the seafood roll thing. All I knew was that it was a fried yet steamed dumpling filled with some cheese stuffing along with some vegetables and a mixture of seafood.

For the main course we either had to choose a steak entrée or pasta. I chose pasta because I doubt seafood would go down with a steak. Then came dessert which was either the cheesecake or the chocolate lava cake. I chose the cheesecake that was topped with strawberries. It was the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. Everyone was now just roaming around and mingling.

"Get up," I heard someone mumble in my ear. I looked up to see Lucifer behind me pulling out my chair. I grabbed my phone and got up. "We have to mingle. Well me, not you. No offense," he said quickly as he held me close to him. "Sure," I mumbled sarcastically.

We walked around for a bit and Lucifer was greeted by many as we walked around. We were eventually stopped when Lucifer took his hand off my waist to hug some guy. He was young like Lucifer and dressed like the rich of course. "Vincent! Long time no see man," the guy greeted.

"Been busy," Lucifer said, cracking a smile.

"How is business going?" he asked.

"Going a bit rough at the moment but everything is fine otherwise," he spoke.

"Tell me about it," the guy mumbled, "So who's the pretty lady?" he asked, turning to me.

"Skylar sir and you?" I asked with a smile.

"Mr. Weston but you can call me Nathaniel. Nate for short," he smiled.

"First name bases alright, huh," Lucifer butt in.

"Nice meeting you Nate," I said, sticking out my hand to shake his. He took my hand and planted a kiss on my knuckles. "Likewise," he smiled.

"Watch it," Lucifer growled.

Nate looked up at him. "She's your date or your girlfriend?" Nate asked.

Before Lucifer could answer I replied, "Date."

Nate turned to say something but was interrupted by a waiter. "Ma'am, we need your information for the bundles you bidding on. You bid on the Apple products and chocolate bundle," a lady smiled as she swiped the touchpad.

"That was you who outbid me on the Apple bundle?" Nate asked with shock and I nodded my head.

"Alright, will you be taking it with you or delivered?" she asked.

"Delivered," I stated. She tapped something in. "It's 300 dollars extra," she said looking at me.

"No problem," I smiled. "Alright, your order will arrive tomorrow. Just type in your address and swipe your card on the side," she said, handing me the pad. Instead of my address I typed in my P.O. box and took out my black card from the back of my phone. I then swiped it and watched as everything went through.

"Thank you for your participation. Enjoy your night," she said before walking off. I shoved the card back into the back of my phone and looked up to see Nate looking at me in shock.

"What?" I asked puzzled.

"Well I thought he would be paying for your stuff," he said motioning to Lucifer.

"Ha! Good one," I laughed, causing Lucifer to glare at me. "No, I just bought those for my brothers," I explained.

"What's your business?" he asked straight up.

"Excuse me?" I asked looking at him. From the corner of my eye, I could see Lucifer a bit nervous.

"You have your own black card. What do you do?" he questioned.

"That's classified," I smiled.

He studied me for a moment before cracking a smile. "You're... different. I like you. We should hang out sometime."

"We should..." I said unsure.

He was about to say something but was cut off by a screeching sound. "Oh my gosh. Mr. Vincent," a high pitched voice came into view. We all turned to see a lady in her young 20s approaching us. She was beautiful no doubt about it but her dress was quite... revealing you could say.

"I haven't seen you in a while," she chirped as she wrapped him in a hug. Lucifer chuckled and hugged her back. Well, well, wellll. Lookie here.

"Where have you been?" she said as they released from their hug.

"Around. Kind of busy," he smiled.

"Well you look great," she flirted with a smile.

"Me? Look at you. You look beyond stunning," he said, eyeing her.

"Oh my gosh Mr. Weston didn't see you there," she stated.

"Oh course you didn't," he mumbled but she didn't catch that since she kept her eyes on Lucifer and Lucifer did the same in return.

"They look like Jacob and Bella from Twilight," Nate whispered next to me.

"Nate, that's offensive to Jacob," I corrected.

We both looked at each other and burst out laughing. "What's so funny?" she asked, looking at us weirdly along with Lucifer.

"Nothing to worry about," I grinned as Nate tried to control his laughter.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" she asked with a bit of a temper.

"My name is Skylar. I'm Lucifer's date for tonight," I smiled.

A smirk twitched up on her lips. "Explains your clothing style. He always did have the right sense of fashion," she said, turning to look at him.

"Kill me," I mumbled. "Only if you kill me first," Nate mumbled back.

"Good evening ladies. I was wondering if you were going up for a bid tonight," a guy holding a touchpad asked.

"Yes. Put me down as usual," the twat spoke. He nodded and typed something in. "What do you mean going up for a bid?" I asked.

He finished typing and looked up. "It's simple. You go up on stage, people bid for you and whoever bids the highest gets to spend the night with you at the event. Nothing more nothing less," he explained.

"Wow you are so new," I heard her mumble.

"Sure. Put me down. By the way, what was the highest bid you ever had on someone?" I asked as he typed something on the pad.

"3.5 million," he said looking up at me. "Name?"

"It was on me. Lucifer bid on me," she gushed.

"Yea I didn't ask and my name is Skylar," I smiled. He took my name and then left.

"Alright, I'm going to go mingle with other people. May I get your number?" Nate said, turning to me. I nodded my head and he pulled out his phone and then gave it to me. I typed it in and then saved it before giving it back to his phone.

"He's just going to use you," she snorted. Nate, Lucifer, and I looked up at her to see she was smirking.

"Speaking from experience?" I smiled, causing her mouth to drop.

Nate covered his mouth as he tried not to laugh so hard. I turned to Lucifer who had a smile on his face as he looked at me.

"Well I'll see you later Cupcake," Nate smiled before hugging me.

"Nice meeting you Nate," I smiled before he left.

"You're on first name bases?" she questioned.

"Yeah," I said looking around. I spotted a bar and my face lit up like a kid in a candy shop.

"I'm going to go to the bar," I said, looking at Lucifer. "I'll come," he ordered.

"You looked pretty tied up at the moment," I said looking at the twats arm which was wrapped around Lucifer's. He followed my gaze and as he was about to look up I was gone. I made my way to the bar and sat on an empty stool. "1 shot please," I asked the bartender and he nodded.

He slid me a shot glass and I took it all in one shot. "Never seen a girl take alcohol that fast," a deep voice came next to me.

I turned on my stool to see a dashing young guy a couple of years older than me. He wore a navy blue suit which complimented his gray eyes. He was also tall like Lucifer and muscular.

"You see how they say diamonds are a woman's best friend?" I asked and he slowly nodded, "Well my best friend is alcohol," I giggled as I ordered one more shot.

He cracked a smile and lifted up his shot glass. "Same goes for a man and his best friend is a dog," he said before taking the shot. I watched as he took it all in and had no reaction. "Don't get me wrong. I love dogs but they can be so much..."

"Work. Tell me about it," I huffed as I took my second shot. "My name is Skylar," I smiled.

He gave me a gentle smile and stuck out his hand. "My name is Sean," he said as I shook his hand.

"So what brings you to the bar?" I asked.

"Problems," he said while taking another shot. "You."

"Problems," I huffed.

"Pretty girl like you got problems? I find that hard to believe," he said, turning to me.

"I find it hard you got problems too Mr. Tough Guy," I said, reversing the situation.

"Mr. Tough Guy?" he said, raising an eyebrow.

"Yea. You kind of look intimidating but you're super cool on the down low," I explained.

He studied me for a moment then smiled. "You're .."

"Different. I know. The next person who says I'm different is going to have something ram up -" I stopped once I realized what I was saying.

I looked up to see Sean shocked. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-," I was cut off by his loud laughter causing people to stare and whisper about us.

I playfully punched his arm as he continued laughing. "What was that about?" he asked as he wiped a tear from his eyes. Yes, the man laughed that hard.

"Nothing," I smiled.

He then poked my side causing me to squirm. "Tell me or I'll do it again," he playfully threatens causing me to laugh.

"Well everyone keeps saying I'm different. I have no clue what's different about me. I know I don't fit in but still," I tried to explain.

"You don't know what makes you different from anybody else," he stated and I nodded. He turned me on my chair so we were looking at everyone either talking, laughing, eating or dancing. "Look around. What do you see?" he mumbled.

"I see... I see dead people," I said before laughing out loud. I turned to see he was glaring at me. "You know very well you found that funny," I said and he cracked a smile.

I turned my gaze back to everyone. "I see people just talking and dancing," I stated.

"Look closely at their body movement," he whispered.

I looked at a couple who were dancing then looked around to others who weren't. "Everyone is so...stiff. There's no joy in this event. The laughter comes from others who are in pain or in trouble. There are a lot of enemies here. Everyone is trying to ignore it but they can't avoid it," I informed him. I was then turned back around so I was looking at Sean.

"See. That's what makes you different. I know you have a conflict with someone here but you don't show it. You enjoy the time you have and make a joy out of it. From talking to you for the past 8 minutes or so, I could tell you are a very smart, beautiful, and intelligent young lady. You don't belong in this room," he finished off.

"I don't belong in this room," I repeated in confusion.

He nodded. "These are not your type of people and I'm guessing you already figured that out since you entered here," he smiled as he took another shot.

"Who are you?" I was mesmerized by this man.

"If I tell you then I would have to kill you," he smiled.

"Just tell me," I glared.

He took a shot. "I am the owner of the CEO of the Black Market," he smirked, causing my mouth to drop.
