Grounder Queen -9-

I gritted my teeth as another fist pounded into my stomach. This had been going on for what felt like hours. The grounder paused for a second, I opened my eyes in hope, that it would stop. But I was wrong.

"Tell us everything there is to know about the sky people."

"I won't say a word", I chocked out the grounders hands now tightening around my throat.

The grounder ripped out her knife as she slowly walked towards me. I pulled at the ropes keeping me in place. Closer and closer the grounder crept. A knife was held at my throat, pushing deeper and deeper as time ticked by.

"Go ahead, kill me. I don't care. My life no longer matters to anyone." I snarled.

     "Very well then sky girl."

I felt the knife push to deep into my skin. Till I felt a warm trickle of blood drip down my throat. The grounders eyes widened more and more as it feel. Signalling me the grounder had seen the shade of my blood. He drew the knife from my throat before speaking.

"Even if you have the blood of the commander you are still a disappointment to the human race. The sky people do nothing but kill." His voice was like a lion fierce and angry, ready to pounce when it's prey was weak. And I was both the prey and weak.

The male warrior looked down to the knife in his hand and back up to me. Almost as if he was questioning whether or not to kill me. But his face turned hard, as if he remembered his savage ways.  He drew his hand back with the knife tight in grip. A flinch in his arm indicated me the knife was going to indent in my stomach. But before the blood stained my shirt a commanding voice boomed from behind the warrior.

     " Halt Gustus! "

Behind the grounder I know know of as Gustus stood a tall woman. She held her head high like a crown should be atop it. From the look of pride in her eye and the focus on Gustus's face, like he was making sure he heard every single word. His response to her was not in English but in a language I had never heard before, the language of the grounders.

" Commander this is a sky girl. They stole our land, killed are people, so why are you defending her?" While he questioned this I could a hear a hint of anger evident in his voice. Like he was disagreeing with his grounder queen.

" How dare you question me Gustus, leave this tent at once!" Her yells echo'd through the tent.

" My apologies command-."  Before he could finish the grounder queen cut him off.

" Leave." Was the last word she spoke before Gustus sulked out of the tent.

Her gaze turned to me, still tied to the wall. She drew her sword from it's holster and walked up to me. I suspected a sword to through the heart, but instead great relief fled through my arms and back instead. A wave of tiredness washed through me body. The two days of no food or water caught up. I felt my legs giving out but before I could fall to the floor a strong arm reached out and steadied me.

" Stand strait and strong Gona." She softly lectured.

" What does Gona mean." I questioned.

" Gona means warrior. One day you will be a fierce and strong warrior. I give you the opportunity to join the Trikrew clan. You will train underneath of Gustus as his second. And also with mine warrior Lexa. If you want to of course"

" With no second thought I accept. But I do have one question, why me, I'm a sky person.

" You are loyal and a loyalty is the strongest trait in a warrior."
