Song Inspriation: In My Veins by Andrew Belle

Preston

I worry about Jules. Her and I have been through a lot together and I wouldn't change it. This whole cabin situation has me worried. She shouldn't have to watch Ashton with that bitch. Sometimes I wish she would have told him so, he would have stepped up. I don't resent her. It was my decision to help her but i did clean up Ashton's mess. I agree the marriage should not have happened. She is still in love with Ashton and I am in love with Maci.

During my marriage to Jules, I did not cheat on her. I resumed the friends with benefits with Maci when our divorce was finalized. But I am still waiting on Maci to get her head out of her ass and just admit that she is also in love with me. I would say that I would wait a lifetime for her but that is not the case anymore. This week I am going to have to talk to her because I cannot live like this anymore. I can't wait for her to come around when she feels like it.

Willow. That little girl has my heart. She doesn't call me dad; if you're wondering. She calls me "Pres." I help out with her as much as I can. With the help between me and Jules' mom, Jules completed college on time. I am extremely proud of her. She could have given up but once she saw her little girl in her arms she became a warrior.

"Is Willow with your parents?" I ask.

"Yeah, you know I hate being away from her."

"I know. I hate being away from her as well."

"I hope this week goes by fast so I can get back to her."

"Don't we all."

I don't know how I am going to look at Ashton and not beat him. The way he treated Jules after they has sex makes me sick. He basically wants to have his cake and eat it too. Ashton and I met in middle school during basball tryouts and since then he joined our group of friends. I always knew that he had a thing for Jules. Shit, at one point I did as well. That was until I saw Maci and I was forever changed.

We pull into the driveway of the cabin and I see that Maci is already here. I pull the key out of the ignition and turn to face Jules.

"Are you ready for this?"

She nods and says, "I have to do it sometime. Don't I?"

"You don't owe him anything."

"Preston, he deserves to know right?"

"I guess."

"I just don't know how to tell him."

"Whatever you want to do...I will always support you."

"Thanks, Preston."

"Stop thanking me. This is what friends do."

We both get out of the car and start walking up towards the cabin.

"I was beginning to wonder if you two were going to get out of the car or leave," says Maci.

"Where is golden boy?" I ask. I know that this is the question that Jules wants to ask but I know she won't.

"Ashton and Sara are flying in tonight and will take a car up here."

"You invited her?"

Maci rolls her eyes at me. "If I have to put up with her, so do you guys."

"Maci- "

"Preston, stop. I can handle it. You really have to stop protecting me," says Jules.

"Fine. How many rooms are in this place?"

"Four."

"We should pick our rooms now before the love birds show up," I say to Jules.

"Of course."

****

After Jules and I choose our rooms, I walk downstairs to see Maci. Damn, she looks good. What am I talking about? She always looks good. I walk into the kitchen and I see her there getting dinner started.

"I made sure to choose the room right next to yours," I say with a smug look.

She turns her head and says,"Pres, we ended that remember?"

"And why was that again?" I know why we ended it. I wanted more and she didn't.

"Preston. Knock it off."

"We need to talk about this."

"No, we don't."

"We will eventually and you will admit to me your feelings because I know damn well that this wasn't some casual fling, We have way too much history to be casual."

"This week isn't about us."

"Then what is it about?"

"Ashton and Jules."

"Why are you pushing this? You know exactly what he did!"

"He deserves to know about his child, Preston!"

"And that's not your fucking choice to tell him or even push the issue!"

"Preston, Willow is not your child. It's great that you stepped up but she deserves to know about who her father is!"

"Is that the real reason why you had us all come to the cabin for a week?" Maci and I turn our heads towards the voice. Jules was standing there looking like she is about ready to commit murder.

"One of the reasons," Maci replies. "We all lost contact with each other over the last four years, except the two of you. Almost makes me wonder what happened in those two years when I was in Oregon."

"What are you accusing us of? You have no claim to Preston," Jules replies with an icy tone.

"Jules, we both know you are not as innocent as you seem."

"Maci, that was fucking uncalled for," i say in an angry tone.

"Well, she should have fucking told Ashton!"

"Tell me what?" all three of whip our heads and see Ashton standing there with a very puzzled look on his face. I turn my head to look at Jules. She looks like she has seen a ghost.

This weekend is going to get interesting fast.

A/N: Things are definately getiing out of hand quickly. Do you think Jules should have told Ashton that she was pregnant or do you agree with her decsion? Coming up next is Ashton's POV. I have a sneak preview to Ashton's POV to hold you over until I have the chapter ready.

Happy Reading!

***Sneak Peak***

Ashton

I am not ready to see her.

Anxiety is coming over me and I need to relax and being on an airplane is not helping things.

I wonder if she still looks the same. She was always a pure beauty, with her hour glass shape and long brown hair with natural highlights.

I will always regret that night and not because we had sex. I regret the fact that I didn't fight for us. I didn't stand up to my father. I don't know why I still let him run my life.

I know that I wouldn't be engaged to Sara right now. Biggest mistake of my life. Well, second biggest mistake of my life. I have to tell Jules that I am engaged to Sara in person. I don't want her to hear it from someone else. The people in the small town we came from like to talk about things that are not their business.

The thing I heard was that Jules left town and moved somewhere else. I wish that we still talked frequently. She was my best friend. I told her everything except my true feelings for her. I am such an idiot.
