Okay so... around 2018, there were plenty of ppl in the TTTE fandom on Tumblr who saw romantic potential between those two, and honestly... I can't see why?
The only major interactions there were between Thomas and Scotsman happened in the movie "The Great Race". In the same way they didn't last long, there wasn't any interesting spark between them. It began with an introduction to each other, and went on with Scotsman's boasting about making part of the race and saying Gordon is his younger brother, not to mention the latter was with them so the interactions weren't solely involved around Thomas and Scotsman's. Despite the fact they went along, there's basically no logic as to why they should be shipped together. I think this ship was initially thought of as a joke, but somehow gained popularity and from there emerged people who liked the ship unironically.

Do I ship them? No. The ship itself is dull, but I have to admit the fact it became a fever once is funny to think about.
