Dungeons and Ducks

Our show starts with the team watching a show with a guy named Carl Schintz. He was going on about how the team was upsetting fans by not showing up for games. But it wasn't the ducks' fault, they were busy saving the world. And when Carl said if the team shows up for the game against the Minnesota CheeseLogs he'd eat an old boot.

NoseDive, being upset with the human turned off the screen and started to go off about it. "I am so hurt! That does it, man! This jerk does not get to be charter member of our fan club! Forget it buddy!"

Diana placed a hand on Dive's shoulder to calm him down as Duke started to speak. "The only reason we missed that game was because we happen to be saving the world."

Grin disagreed. "No. In the words of famous hockey master, Tai Quack Doh. We blew it."

WildWing sighed and agreed with Grin. "Grin's right. Losing by forfeit is humiliating, as long as I'm captain of this team we'll never miss another game." Diana nodded and crossed her arms.

"Alright, but I'm helping, Wild. The public sees me as a coach, and it's my responsibility to get you all to the games."

Drake One started beeping and Tanya announced what the alert was. "It's Draganus' ship!"

They all gathered around the computer and Diana breathed a sigh of relief. It's been quiet for a while and Diana got used to all the danger and war like battles that happen. "After Draganus has kept it hidden all these months. How?"

Diana raised a brow to this, it was kinda odd to have the lizards pop up out of nowhere. "Maybe his cloaking device malfunctioned."

Dive stepped in saying what Diana was thinking. "Or we could be falling for the old trapperino."

Diana nodded. "Dive's right. It could be a trap."

Wild was determined to catch Draganus so he didn't listen. "Well, even if it is a trap. We've gotta check it out."

Diana fed Wishbone before following the team to the Migrator. Once everyone was strapped in Wild began explaining his reason for going even though it was most likely a trap. "If we can capture Draganus, we'll have completed our mission."

Diana was torn, now that Wild mentioned it, she had two choices. Stay on earth and be the only duck with her family or go to Puck-World and stay with her friends. She's having to choose between her birth planet and a new one. Before she knew it, they arrived at the location and got out of the Migrator.

WildWing scanned the place with the mask and found the ship, it was disguised as a building. "That big triangular building. It's the Raptor."

Diana took out her stick and let its blade out in case of a fight.

The Raptor's cloaking device deactivated showing the menacing ship.

Duke shook his head. "I don't like this. They're making it a little too easy for us. You know?"

Just then the Chameleon and Siege started firing at the team. "I think the difficulty factor just went up a notch!" Diana deflected stray blasts with her weapon and looked to Tanya who was thrown by a blast.

The scientist crashed into a mailbox.

"Tanya!" Both Duke and Diana rushed over to help they're friend. "Can we help?" Tanya pointed to the drug store behind her. "Could you maybe pop into that drug store and get me something for a headache?"

Diana helped Tanya up and reached into her leg pouch, pulling out a bottle of water and some ibuprofen. "Here."

Diana handed the water and medicine to her friend and deflected some more blasts. "How?" Diana let out a small grunt after deflecting another shot.

"I turned my leg pouch into a first aid kit. It didn't have any use besides completing the look till now." The top of the Raptor glowed before shooting out beams of light that turned into a wormhole. "What in the...?!"

"It's a dimensional wormhole!" The portal started sucking the ducks in and Diana used her stick to hook onto a lamppost.

"Guys! Grab onto something!" Diana had her eyes closed but felt she was slipping and soon lost her grip on her hockey stick. She was about to be sucked into the portal until someone grabbed her and pulled Diana to them.

"Diana! You okay!?" It was WildWing. "I'm fine!"

Dive had to make a quip as he held onto Tanya. "I love playing twister! But this is ridiculous!"

The lamppost they were holding onto soon got ripped from the ground and the ducks were sucked through, only leaving Grin behind. The portal soon tossed them all out and onto the sidewalk.

Wild landed on his back to protect Diana from the fall.

"Oh, what happened? Where are we?" Diana helped WildWing up and looked everyone over. "Is anyone hurt?"

They all got up and looked around before Duke said, "Exactly where we were."

Diana shook her head and reached for her hockey stick, but gasped when it wasn't there. She looked around and couldn't find it, gripping her necklace like a lifeline. "Where's my hockey stick!?"

Wild put a hand on Diana's shoulder and calmed her down enough for her to focus. "But that's impossible. We were blown through a dimensional portal, we're in a different universe."

Tanya was right, everything from the buildings to the sky looked different. WildWing agreed. "It's different alright. The Raptor's gone for one thing and the Migrators gone too." Diana breathed in and tried to calm herself.

"Yeah, and so's Grin." NoseDive was ticked off after Mallory's comment about Grin not being here.

"But everything's the same. Even that...drug store?" The store had a wood sign with a dragon craved on it with what they sold. Diana read the sign out loud to herself. "Spells and potions?"

Mallory was ticked now too. "Someone's pulling our tails."

The team went inside to see the store completely different; it was lined with spell books, potions, and other things you'd find at a D&D convention.

Dive made a small quip as they walked up to the register. "Man, do I ever get the feeling we are not in Kansas anymore."

Diana looked around and spotted a wall of weapons. Swords, daggers, maces, but one stood out to her.

A double-bladed scythe, black and smoky blue markings were expertly painted on the handle and both blades looked like shards of ice.

Tanya and WildWing talked to the owner of the store while Diana took the scythe of the wall and tested it out.

The owner noticed her skill with the weapon and got up from behind the desk he was at. "I see you've taken an interest in the weapons here."

Diana paused and looked down to see the gnome. "Maybe, but I don't have any money for it."

Diana put the scythe back and walked to her companions. "Besides, I already have a weapon back home."

The ducks walked out of the store and saw a commercial on a crystal ball. "Woah! This is blowing my mind daddy-oh-man."

Diana raised a brow as Mallory asked a question. "Can someone please explain what is going on around here?"

Duke took the helm in explaining the world they're now in. "Oh yeah, it's obvious. We came to Anaheim from another dimension, right?" This was Dive's que to break the fourth wall.

"I know, I saw that episode. Go on." Duke grew excited as he kept explaining. "So, we've been sent to a totally different dimension." He took out his saber and swung it a bit to emphasize his point. "A dimension that's ruled by magic, sorcery, adventure. Oh yeah, this is my kind of town, baby!"

Diana smiled a little seeing her friend of a thief happy. "Well, get used to it. Cuz, I don't see how we're gonna get out."

They all turned their heads when some commotion was heard a way away from them. It was some kind of monster throwing thunder bolts at what looked like Link from Legend of Zelda. NoseDive was the first to run over. "Hey you big weirdo! Quit picking on that little weirdo!"

Diana didn't know what to do without her hockey stick, it was her only weapon besides the pucks she has.

The gnome from the drug store came out with the scythe. "Lady Duck, here."

Diana refused but the owner insisted. "Take it, no one had the skill you had with it."

Diana took the weapon and twirled it before throwing it at the monster.

The beast was now down, and the scythe acted like a boomerang and flew back into Diana's hand. The injured monster got up and flew away as the team and a now weaponized Diana rushed over to see if the elf was okay.

The elf threw his sword, and it flew around until Duke struck it sending the blade to Diana and she deflected it back to the elf. "Hey, take it easy. You could put someone's eye out with that thing."

Diana lowered her scythe and breathed deep so she could calm down. But the last thing Duke said made Diana wonder something.

"I should know." She leaned over to Wild and asked him in a whisper. "Is that how he got the patch?"

WildWing nodded and Diana was satisfied with her answer.

The elf put away his sword and faced the ducks. "You appear to be malevolent creatures."

Diana stepped forward this time. "Looks can be deceiving."

Duke nodded and continued his act. "We are friends to anyone who struggles for a good cause. I've always wanted to say that."

The elf then understood now. "Well, friends I am glad to see you." The elf then shook Dukes hand. "I am Borg, Prince Regent of Anaheim. Now please this way, it is not safe for me to linger out in the open."

Borg led the ducks to a secluded ally, and he explained everything as Diana adjusted her sheath to fit her new weapon. "My kingdom has been usurped by Astaroth, Lord of the Red Dragon. He enslaved the people, made my palace a citadel of evil, and sent monsters to hunt me down."

NoseDive didn't like this. "Man, a thing like that could spoil your whole day."

Borg then looked up at the other ducks and asked them, "What of you? How came you to Anaheim?"

Duke put a hand to his beak before explaining. "I'm glad you asked. Well, we were in battle with an evil overlord, when a magical whirlwind picked us up and carried us across the skies to your land."

Diana was impressed with how he explained it in a way Borg would understand so easily. "And frankly we could use a little help getting back to our own world."

Borg got up and look pretty happy. "Friends, perhaps we can help one another."

Diana strapped her weapon to her back and asked, "How?"

Borg then started to tell them about Astaroth. "The source of Astaroth's power is his amulet. Help me dfeat him, and it can return you to your world."

WildWing then shook Borgs hand as Diana smiled. "Your highness, it's a deal."

Borg then looked to Diana's scythe. "Ah, a shard scythe. Good choice in weapons."

Wild looked to Diana and crossed his arms. "I didn't steal it. The shop owner gave it to me."

Borg then smiled. "When one of my people sees skills with a weapon no one else can wield, the weapon is the skilled one's by law. And a shard scythe is one of the hardest to use in battle."

Diana looked over her shoulder at the weapon and smirked a bit, all the years of using her father's stick were paying off.

Borg led the team to the royal palace, which so happened to be the city hall. "Behold, the royal palace of Anaheim." Mallory stated about how it was familiar to the team.

"It's the city hall."

"I guess in this dimension it's a royal palace." They soon stopped and Borg told them how they could get in. "I know all the secret passageways. There's just one thing I've never been able to get past."

Wild looked at Borg and asked him what everyone was thinking. "What?"

Borg pointed to the monsters on the roof of the palace. "Them!"

Diana took out her scythe as the others got ready to fight. "What are those things?!" Borg answered Diana quickly. "My royal guard, but Astaroth turned every one of them into a humungculous! Creatures of evil!"

Diana glared at the creatures as they circled above, two then spit out globs that turned into flaming spears. They all dodged, and Diana took a swing with her scythe. The spears were now frozen and shattered on the ground.

Everyone then started to fire at the beasts and Diana stuck with protecting Borg from a monster that landed near him. She used defensive moves before freezing the creature in ice. "Lady Diana, you remind me of my mother, Star. She was always protective of me in battle."

Soon the rest of the monsters were taken care of, and NoseDive dusted his hands off. "Sorry guys, all flights are canceled till further notice."

"Well done my friends." Diana put her scythe away and followed the team and Borg to a wall near the steps of the palace.

The elf pulled a hidden lever and that opened a secret door. "Follow me." They let Borg take the lead and Duke noticed the skulls on the walls. "Interesting decor."

They soon started to run as Borg explained that there will be traps along the way. "We must face many perils before we reach Astaroth's stronghold."

NoseDive was not okay with the peril bit. "You're just saying that to cheer us up, right?"

Borg didn't answer and that not only made Dive nervous but also made Diana worry. "Dive, he isn't kidding."

Mallory looked to Diana as they kept running. "Diana, you've been pretty quiet since we got here. Are you okay?"

Diana sighed and kept running. "I'm worried about Grin. He's the only one who's standing between those scales for brains lizards and earth."

They soon arrived in a foyer. "There's a shortcut through here." Tanya noticed something. "The city council chamber."

"Aye, where the council of the wise used to convene. It hasn't been used since Astaroth's conquest." Then NoseDive warned everyone as living skeletons came running towards them. "Woah! Heads up!"

Diana took out her scythe and got ready.

Duke had the same idea and drew his saber. "Looks like Astaroth has some skeletons in his closet."

They charged at the undead and Diana took the first swing. "Let's rock, Ducks!"

Diana and the others were all occupied with a skeleton and Diana froze hers before shattering it. Once the skeletons were finished, they gathered back together. "Coast is clear."

A giant skeleton then loomed over them. "Except for him."

Duke then raised his hand. "Got a spare puck, WildWing?"

Wild handed Duke a puck and the thief activated its explosive persona. Duke threw the puck at the skeleton, and it exploded. "Anyone got anymore bone jokes?"

Diana shook her head as they ran off to the next room. "Now my friends, only one thing stands between us and Astaroth's stronghold."

That thing turned out to be a huge stone maze. "The Maze of Infinite Peril."

Diana heaved a sigh and followed either way. "Yeah, every government building should have its own maze of infinite peril."

NoseDive was trying to lighten the mood, and Tanya continued his joke. "Yeah, probably used to be the DMV."

Diana laughed at that and had to admit they were right.

They got deep in the maze and soon lost. "WildWing, we're getting more lost by the second." Borg sighed in disappointment and apologized. "Forgive me my friends. My magic isn't powerful enough to get us through the maze."

Wild stepped up and used his mask. "Mine is." He scanned the walls and found a way out. "That way!"

Wild then blasted a hole in the wall and they all raced through the maze, rinsing and repeating the blasting walls thing. They all stopped in front of a door. "Almost there."

WildWing blasted the door and they all raced in. "Give it up for the ducks!"

And there was Astaroth, he turned to see the team and Borg. "So, you survived the journey to my stronghold. Diana's hand twitched, the feeling of needing to grab her weapon was there. "That old geezer is Astaroth?"

"Ha, this won't even be a skirmish." Diana's hand twitched again as Mallory and Dive thought this might be easy. "No one challenges the lord of the red dragon, and lives."

Astaroth tapped his amulet, and he began to transform into an actual dragon. "You two were saying?"

Tanya looked worried as the transformation was done. "Guys we may have to change the name of the team."

"To what?" Mallory was now worried.

"Toast!"

Astaroth breathed fire at them, but Diana used her scythe to make a barrier of ice to protect them. They all open fire at the dragon but the second time he breathed fire the ice melted. "Time for a mass body check!"

"I'm with you, my friends!" They all worked together to trip Astaroth out the window behind him, and it worked. But they fell through the window too. The dragon flew up and Diana got an idea. "Guys we need water!"

Duke seemed to get the idea. "Yeah, if we can keep him pinned in with those fire hydrants, I think I can get the amulet."

They broke open the water pipes and it seemed to work well as Astaroth cowered at the liquid.

Duke jumped on the dragon's back as the beast took off. The duck used his saber to cut the amulet off the monster's neck and Borg caught it.

Astaroth turned back and was surrounded by our heroes. "Now, sorcerer. You have no power!"

Diana pointed her blade at Astaroth. "Get out." Her voice was calm but had hints of anger in it.

"You have won this time, princeling. But you've not heard the last of Astaroth." The sorcerer then flew away, and Diana put away her weapon. "I don't care what anyone says. That guy is a one-man party."

Borg was so happy to have his kingdom free once again. "The tyrant is banished. Anaheim is free again. Oh, my friends, how can I ever thank you?"

Tanya stepped forward and mentioned getting home. "You can get us outta here, this place is weird city."

Borg held up the amulet and explained how they can get home. "Easily done. You must all touch the amulet and speak the incantation." He handed the amulet to WildWing and all the ducks touched it at the same time.

"Don't tell me, there's no place like home?"

"How did you know?" Diana chuckled at Dive as they started to disappear from this world. "I own the video."

While going through the wormhole, Diana was happy to be going home. "After all that excitement, our Anaheim is going to seem downright boring."

Once out of the wormhole a clocktower nearly fell on them but they all dodged it in time. The earth was shaking and so they all raced over to the source of the trouble. They started to fire at the lizards until they retreated. "That thing will shake the city apart!"

A shout then made the team look to its source; it was Phil. "Guys! Guys! Don't forget your teammate and beloved manager!"

Wild turned to Diana, Mallory, and Tanya. "Tanya, Mallory, Diana, shut that thing down!"

The team split up, the girls taking down the machine while the boys saved their teammate and manager. "Not how I pictured a girl's trip."

Tanya got to work examining the cable of the machine as the boys got Grin and Phil out of a collapsing building. "It's too risky to cut the cable. I'll just have to locate..." She was cut off by Diana.

"No time! Mallory, can you shoot that thing?" Mal nodded and took aim. "Target acquired." She took the shot and the machine exploded, after that was finished the girls regrouped with the boys as they freed Grin and Phil. Grin handed Diana her father's hockey stick. "Thanks, Big Guy." She looked back to when she got the stick, at her father's funeral and how he said she'd get her own weapon someday.

"Any messages while we were gone?"

"How did you get back?" WildWing answered by showing the amulet to Grin. "With this thing."

Phil then joined the conversation. "You can use it as a puck for all I care! You guys got a game in five minutes!"

The team arrived at the pond on time and Carl did eat an old boot, curtesy of NoseDive.

Diana was relieved they were home but got her bike ready to go out after the game was finished.

Wild came up to her as she got on. "Diana, where are you going?" She looked at him and smiled softly. "To see my parents. Wanna come?"

WildWing changed into his casual clothes and got on the back of Diana's bike before she took off. They drove for a while until reaching the cemetery, Diana led the way as Wild followed before they stopped at two graves. "Hey, mom, dad, I'm back and I brought a friend this time."

Diana kneeled on the grass and pulled Wild down next to her by his wrist. "Uh, hi, I'm WildWing."

Diana took out her dad's hockey stick and breathed deeply before speaking again with faint tears. "Dad, I found a weapon like you said I would. I think you should hold onto your stick now; you carried it better than I ever did." She leaned her father's hockey stick against the head stone and then stood up and looked to her mom's grave. "And don't worry mom. I have friends now, I'm not gonna be alone anymore."

WildWing then got up and wrapped an arm around her as they looked at the graves. "Can I talk to them a bit?"

Diana nodded and smiled at him. "Mr. and Mrs. Palmfeather, I want you to know Diana is safe with us. And we'll take care of her, I'll take care of her."

Diana looked to Wild as he took off his mask and looked down at Diana. "And if you think I can't, you can strike me down now."

Diana smiled at Wild, and they said goodbye before heading back to the pond.

Once in the rink the two sat in the empty stands and breathed in the cold air. "You think your parents would approve if they were still here?"

Diana gave him a confused look. "Approve of what?" Wild brushed Diana's bangs away from her face and looked at her with gentle eyes.

"Well, I wanted to ask you something, but never thought of doing it. Because it could either ruin our friendship or hurt you more." Diana listened as he gathered his courage and took her hand. "Diana, do you wanna go on a date sometime?"

The female duck smiled and blushed red as Mallory's hair before hugging Wild. "Yes, I would love to. In all honesty, I had the same reasons holding me back from confessing to you too."

They pulled away and smiled at each other as they placed their foreheads together, since both of them felt a kiss would be too sudden.

A good ending to this episode.
