"Ah wait! Shadow!" Raule said.

Shadow looked up at him. "Yes Captain?" Shadow asked.

"You probably shouldn't go into town otherwise it'll spread a panic." Raule advised.

"Don't worry he can just go into one of our shadows. That's what he did when we came here." Red told his father.

"True but wouldn't it be unwise to go into one of your shadows when you'll likely change?" Raule pointed out.

"Why not?" Red asked.

"Well he can see while in your shadow right?" Raule said.

"You have a point there." Shadow agreed.

"How 'bout you go in my shade for now Shadow?" Raule offered.

"I might have a better idea. Do you have ink?" Shadow asked.

"Yeah, what for?" Raule answered.

"You'll see." Shadow replied. Raule shrugged and walked to his office upstairs to get ink. He got it and came back downstairs.

"Here." Raule said and handed the ink to Shadow. Shadow nodded and took the ink capsule. He took off the coat and rolled his right sleeve up. Shadow opened the capsule, dabbed his left pointer finger in the ink and started to write something on his arm.

The others were confused on what he was doing but they stayed silent. When he finished the writing his face changed as well as his hair and eyes! He looked like a different person! His hair was now black and his eyes were green. As the Night's stared in awe, Shadow messed up his hair a little bit with his hand.

"So what do you think?" He asked.

"How did you do that?!" Green asked.

"Magic and markings. Old friends showed me how a long time ago." Shadow said and pulled his sleeve back up, covering the markings. He closed the ink capsule and handed it back to Raule.

"Wow! That's so cool! Can we try?" Red asked.

"I'm afraid it only works on shadows or dark beings." Shadow answered.

"Aw..." Red said, disappointed.

"Should we keep this with us?" Raule asked about the ink.

"Maybe. The markings last a long time but can be washed away with liquid." Shadow said.

"I can hold it in my satchel just in case." Lizzy said.

"Yeah, I think it would be a good idea to keep it with us." Raule said and gave it to Lizzy who put it in her purse.

"Should we give you a fake name Shadow?" Green asked.

"Probably a good idea." Lizzy said.

"What about Cody?" Shadow said.

"Sounds nice, I like it!" Green said.

"Now then, let's go shall we?" Lizzy said. Everyone nodded and she opened the door.

As they were on their way to the clothing shops Lizzy attempted to make conversation.

"So Cody, what are your parents like?" Lizzy asked.

"Parents? He would only have parents if they were drawn out of the dark mirror. Shadows are our darkest reflections. They make up our darkest selves and bring them to life. That's what Sh-Cody is." Vio explained.

"Wrong." Shadow said.

"What?" Vio asked, surprised.

"You're wrong Vio. That's not it at all." Shadow repeated.

"Could you explain to us then?" Vio asked, his curiosity peaked.

"True, us shadows are mostly evil unlike their opposites." Shadow started.

"Opposites?" Green asked.

"That's what us shadows call you. You four are my opposite because you are Link. Everyone here has a shadow. Once a light opposite such as yourselves is born, dark shadows are born on the same day. We grow up and experience life like you. We are individual people, not just reflections. Although we are reflections mostly as you are our opposites so we are usually the literal opposite of you. For example most people here are good and peaceful while most people back home are awful and violent all the time. Our home is the Dark Realm while yours is the Light Realm." Shadow explained.

"What is the Dark Mirror then?" Vio asked.

"The Dark Mirror is like a door that can only open from one side. It can open from the light only but can't open in our realm. In addition to that if we are summoned we can be controlled whether we like it or not. But most light sorcerers that summon us are the rare evils of your realm and most shadows are evil so they usually enjoy it and do the deeds willingly." Shadow explained.

"So that means Zelda has a shadow too? I'm assuming evil since Zelda is good here." Green asked. Shadow nodded.

"Yes Zelda has a shadow and she is quite the brat. But she's not that bad. She has an attitude sometimes but she's not evil. Her name is Isabella." Shadow said.

"You mean Princess Isabella? She's still royalty there right?" Raule said.

"Well yes, and she's ruling at last unlike her goddess-forsaken parents." Shadow said.

"Don't like them?" Vio guessed the obvious. Shadow nodded.

"I like how her name ends with an 'a' like Zelda though!" Red chirped.

"Well yeah, all shadows have the same last letter of their name as their opposite." Shadow stated, like it was common sense.

"Oi, but that would mean your name ends with an 'k' and Shadow isn't your real name!" Blue pointed out. Shadow froze and stopped walking. Everyone stopped with him, their curiosity rising.

"Then what is your real name?" Green asked.

"And why did you introduce yourself as 'Shadow Link'?" Blue asked.

Shadow was silent for a while but finally spoke, "Tsk, I didn't introduce myself as 'Shadow Link' you all started calling me that on your own." Shadow looked irritated and continued walking. The others followed, beside him.

"Well that's what the Blue Maiden, Lily, called you so we made assumptions." Vio told him calmly.

"Yeah I remember now! You can tell us your real name if you're upset we called you 'Shadow' all this time." Red said with a pat to Shadow's back, thinking he was irritated because of that. However Shadow was only irritated because he didn't know what his name was.

"Nah, I actually like 'Shadow' better, it's cooler. I'm not upset about it." Shadow said.

"Why? Is your real name something embarrassing like 'Sink'?" Blue grinned.

"No it's not." Shadow answered calmly. Although he had no idea if that was true or not.

"Suurree. I bet it is embarrassing, you just don't wanna talk about it." Blue teased.

"Blue, if he doesn't want to talk about it then leave him alone." Green told Blue seriously.

"You're not the boss of me!" Blue said and stuck his tongue out.

"Wel-" Green started.

"Please stop arguing guys. Remember what Zelda said!" Red begged.

"Fine..." Green and Blue said in unison and stopped.

"Anyway, we have shadows right?" Lizzy asked. Shadow nodded.

"Then what are they like? Your parents?" Lizzy repeated.

Shadow shrugged. "I dunno. Never met them." He told her.

"What? So you're an orphan?!" Lizzy said surprised.

"That makes sense actually. No adult figure to show rights and wrongs." Raule mumbled quietly to himself.

"Yeah I am. Why are you so surprised?" Shadow asked Lizzy.

"Well orphans are rare here." Lizzy said with pitying eyes.

"Exactly, here. My realm is the opposite of yours so orphans are the norm." Shadow said, trying not to grit his teeth when he saw the look in her eyes.

"Did you have anyone taking care of you?" Lizzy asked.

"Nope. I was on my own." Shadow answered.

"What about the old friends you mentioned earlier?" Green asked.

"They left to live in a better, safer place." Shadow said.

"Oh.... So you were all alone?" Green asked sadly.

"Yeah, but I was fine. I can take care of myself." Shadow answered, annoyed at Green's tone.

"But what did you do for nece-neces-necessi-" Red stammered, struggling to say the last large word.

"Necessities?" Vio finished.

"Yeah that! Things like food, water and clothes! How did you have enough money to buy those when you're just a kid like us?" Red asked.

"I didn't have any money. I-" Shadow started.

"Then how-" Red spoke but Shadow interrupted,

"-I stole everything I needed." Shadow finished.

Red gasped. "But stealing is wrong!" Red whined.

"You do what you gotta to survive." Shadow shrugged.

"What about staying at an orphanage? You could've done that couldn't you?" Green questioned.

"Hah, no way! I'd never live in one of those stupid places with those idiotic people. Besides, they're almost always full anyway. I'm better off on my own." Shadow laughed.

"That's mean! Why are you calling them idiotic?" Red pointed out.

"Because they're dumb and meaner so your lucky I'm here instead of them!" Shadow grinned.

"Ah, there it is!" Lizzy said and pointed. Everyone looked and followed Lizzy to a clothing store named Bethina's Boutique. They entered and walked to the suits for teens. The Links browsed the suits, trying to find something that suits their tastes. With time they each picked out one they liked and was their size. The Link's walked to the changing rooms on the other side of the store and left Shadow alone with their parents. This was the perfect time for Shadow to ask something that had been bothering him.

Shadow spoke in a quiet but serious tone, "So tell me, do you actually forgive me or do you have bitter feelings about...well you know." Raule and Lizzy looked at each other hesitantly then looked back at Shadow.

"Erm...." Lizzy mumbled and fidgeted with her bag awkwardly.

"Just be honest. It's not like my feelings will be hurt or anything." Shadow said.

"...Then...To be completely honest...We haven't." Lizzy started.

"You did so many things. You nearly destroyed Hyrule, you trapped so many soldiers, you burnt part of the Faron Woods, and most importantly you nearly killed our son-er-sons multiple times so no we haven't been able to forgive you." Raule stated seriously with bits of anger in his voice. Lizzy elbowed him.

"But we are trying to. Our sons and Zelda told us and all of Hyrule of what you chose in the end. You chose to try and fix your wrongs. Because of that and because Zelda and our sons have asked us to, we are giving you a chance." Lizzy explained.

"And a chance is all we can give you. It's up to you to decide what to do with that chance. We might forgive you if you don't blow it. Understood?" Raule spoke like he was talking to a soldier.

"Understood." Shadow agreed with a serious expression. Though he was struggling to not make an annoyed expression because Vaati was laughing loudly in his ear.

"Good." Raule stated.

"That's all we ask for." Lizzy said. After a few minutes of silence because they didn't know what to talk about Shadow spoke,

"So, uh, how has life been?" He asked awkwardly, trying to make conversation.

"Peaceful and better now that our son-er-sons are happier." Lizzy said.

"Right, that's going to take a bit for you to get used to." Shadow replied, referring to the multiple sons thing.

"Yup." Lizzy said. Again, silence filled the area.

'I am never doing that again.' Shadow thought.

"Hey, Mom, Dad!" Green said, walking over with the others following him.

'Oh thank the goddesses!' Shadow thought in relief. Shadow looked at them gratefully.

"What do you think?" Green asked, referring to the suits they had on. Green wore a black slim fit suit with light grey vest and a green tie. Red wore black a peak lapel suit with a red bow-tie. Blue wore a dark blue medieval italian suit with ruffle cuffs. Vio wore a black gentleman tail coat with a grey vest and a lavender tie.

"I think they look lovely on you!" Lizzy said. Shadow nodded, agreeing. Though his eyes were mostly on Vio who was looking very classy in his opinion. Then his eyes drifted to Blue because his outfit was so flashy. Shadow held in laughter.

"Are you sure you want to wear that?" Raule asked Blue.

"Well of course! I'm the most astonishing Link of us all so I have to wear this!" Blue said proudly.

"I think it does fit his personality." Shadow snickered and put his hand up to hide his huge grin.

"What are you laughing at? I look absolutely gallant!" Blue growled.

"You do! I almost chose a red one of that suit." Red said.

"See? Even Red thinks so." Blue smirked. He closed his eyes and straightened the front ruffle that imitated a tie very properly and there were practically sparkles surrounding him when he did so. At this point Green and Vio were holding in laughter as well but Vio was less obvious. They each took a deep breath, including Shadow, to not hysterically laugh out loud at Blue's fabulousness.

After they paid for the suits and exited the boutique they went shopping for flowers/boutonnieres to put in the pocket of their suits or pin it on (if it was a pin type). As with the suits, they found flowers that matched their personalities and colors, even Shadow found one for himself.

(Read stuff below authors note for the types of flowers and the flower meanings. Is optional but at least read Reds part that's in bold.)
____________________________________________________________________________

Hello everyone! In this chapter we not only got to learn about Shadow himself but the lives of other shadows and dark beings as well!

Also yes, I did extensive research on different types of suits for the boys because I wanted them to wear something that reflects on their personality somewhat. Vio, Shadow and Zelda were the easiest but the others weren't so easy to find their outfits. Fun fact: Blue and Reds suits were for each other but in the end they got switched to what they are now.

I also did extensive research on the boutonnieres/flowers the boys will have in the pocket of their suits but decided that the shopping for suits was already very long and I'm sure you guys don't wanna read the shopping for flowers part. So instead I put the research for flowers I did below in case someone wanted to know why I chose the flowers above for the boys. Each flower reflects on the person that is wearing it.

(For each picture, except the ink one, I got on Google or the cites that I did my research on, I merely put them together. As for the ink one, I did that myself.)

This chapter was 2267 words excluding this part. I hope you enjoyed it and feel free to comment down below!

Green-Green Zinnia: Is a flower that celebrates a new journey and tells one to live a life of balance and enjoyment. Represents health, wellness and a promise for good fortune.

-(Green's flower was somewhat easier to find, since he is the main/leader of the links and he is quite simple.)

Red-Pink Dahlia: Represents kindness, grace, sensitivity, playfulness and innocence. Give as a gift to represent support and positivity to a friend going through something.

-(Originally I was going to use a red flower for Red but the color and it's meanings were too intense, mature and way different to his personality. So instead I chose the color pink as pink is a less intense version of the color red and is more innocent. Also Dahlia flowers are soft (petals and stem) and generally don't have much defenses but for ~plot convenience~ I am adding thorns to the stem.)

Blue-Blue Hibiscus: Also called "Rose of Sharon". It has slight medicinal properties to help someone who is feeling blue or anxious (only after processing though, don't eat the flower raw ever please). Represents depth, glory, radiance and power. Give as a gift to a friend who is feeling low or give to someone special to show your admiration for them.

-(Blue's flower, alongside Vios and Shadows, was one of the hardest to find a flower for. Most blue flowers represent something peaceful and calming while Blue is literally the opposite of that. With lots of searching I found this flower which is beautiful and the closest blue flower I could find to Blue's personality.)

Vio-Violet: Maintain dignity in the toughest of conditions and stay strong. They flourish in the wild. In the world of flowers they stand tall amidst the challenges of survival, staying brave. Represents mystery, elegance, survival and refinement.

-(Surprisingly Vio's flower was one of the hardest to find. It took so long to find the right flower for him and he almost got the purple hibiscus but it was too close to Blues so I decided not to. After a while I found the violet and was furious that I didn't think of looking up Vios full name! It's meaning is so him and it's the longer version of his name, so it's the perfect flower for him!)

Shadow-Red Columbine: Resembles the hat of a jester when not fully bloomed. Since the flower looks a bit silly what it represents is a bit odd too; Courageous yet anxious, funny but folly (foolish). Given as a gift to provide courage, fortitude and endurance in one's endeavors.

-(Originally I was searching for a black colored flower for Shadow but all of the meanings were much too dark and foreboding! The anemones from before already did that job so I decided to just find a flower of any color, it's meaning just had to fit Shadow. So, I found the red columbine.)
