Chapter Fifteen

NALA'S POV

We stopped on the cliff sides and looked down the tiny river, but only to see that most of the icy river was started to break causing me to look at the others.

"We need to cross, now!" Peter rushed, obviously nervous.

"Don't beavers make dams?" Lucy questioned as she looked down at Mr Beaver.

"I'm not that fast, dear." Mr Beaver exclaimed.

"Come on!" Peter said as he grabbed both Lucy's and I hands.

"Wait! Will you think about this for a minute?" Susan rushed out causing Peter to stop making both Lucy and I to stop.

"We don't have a minute Susan." I exclaimed, worry clear on my face as I bit my lip and look down to the river.

"I'm just trying to be realistic." Susan muttered.

"No, you're trying to be smart. As usual." Peter snapped.

"Susan we really don't have time for being realistic at the moment!" I shouted before I let got of Peter's hand and made my way towards the edge of the cliff and started to scale my way down.

As soon as I made it down, I heard wolves howling in the distance causing all of us to freeze, I saw Peter looking down at me with worry in his eyes causing me to nod my head in reassurance. Peter seemed to calm down slightly before turning to look at his siblings again.

I watched as they slowly made their way down the side of the cliffs making me gasp as I nearly saw Lucy fall but a smile made its way on my face as I saw Peter grabbing her and pulling him into his chest. As they finally made it down Peter walked over towards me and gave me a hug causing me to wrap my arms around his neck. After a few more seconds of hugging we pulled apart and made our way towards the river.

Peter was about to step on the ice but I held him back when he was about to fall in.

"Wait. Maybe I should go first." Mr Beaver said as he looked up at all of us.

"Maybe you should." Peter said as he gripped my hand in his holding it tight in his hands, but not too tight so he wouldn't hurt me.

Mr Beaver then went forward slowly as he tapped the ice with his tail feeling which is a good place to stand on or not. But as soon Mr Beaver took a few more steps the ice cracked underneath him causing Mrs Beaver to gasp out loud.

"You've been sneaking second helpings, haven't you?" Mrs Beaver accused, causing Mr Beaver to let out a nervous laugh as he was caught.

"Well, you never know which meal's gonna be your last. Especially with your cooking." Mr Beaver said as he continued on.

We all started to walk forward and walked behind Mr and Mrs Beaver as we all started to cross over the river.

"If mum knew what we were doing...." Susan was cut off from her panic by Peter.

"Mum's not here." Peter snapped.

As we continued to walk I could faintly hear feet running, looking up I saw some of the secret police running trying to find a safe way down towards us.

"Oh, no!" Lucy shrieked causing Peter to grip out hands tighter, pulling us so we started to run.

"Run!" Peter yelled tugging Lucy and I along with him.

"Hurry!" Susan yelled behind us.

I looked up and saw that the wolves found a way down and now are making their way down towards us, cutting us off, causing us to not go any further. One of the wolves pounced on Mr Beaver holding him down causing me to stare wide eyes at what happened.

"No!" Mrs Beaver cried out.

"Peter!" Lucy yelled causing Peter to look back and pull out his sword, letting go of both Lucy and I's hand.

"Put that down boy. Someone could get hurt." Morgrim said as he slowly made his way towards us.

"Don't worry about me! Run him through!" Mr Beaver yelled out.

"Leave now while you can, and your brother leaves with you." Morgrim said causing me to raise an eyebrow at him.

"Stop, Peter! Maybe we should listen to him!" Susan yelled causing me to look at her in shock.

"Smart girl." Morgrim chuckled.

"Susan if we listen to him we're all going to die! Every time you use your brain use it now! He's lying! He would take us straight back to the Witch!" I exclaimed causing Morgrim to look at me.

"Uh Princess, how very nice to see you, but I have to say you looked a lot better in your other form." Morgrim said causing everyone to look at me in shock.

"Don't listen to him! Kill him! Kill him now!" Mr Beaver yelled out causing everyone to look back at Morgrim.

"Oh, come on. This isn't your war. All my Queen wants is for you to take your family and go. And you can take the princess to." Morgrim said.

"Look, just because some man in a red coat hands you a sword, it doesn't make you a hero! Just drop it!" Susan yelled.

"No, Peter! Narnia needs you! I need you!" I said causing him to look at me with wide eyes.

"Gut him while you still have a chance!" Mr Beaver yelled causing Peter to look back at Morgrim.

"What's it gonna be, Son of Adam? I won't wait forever. And neither will the river." Morgrim said.

"Peter!" Lucy shrieked causing all of us to look up and see the ice-like-waterfall starting to crack.

"Hold onto me!" Peter suddenly said causing me to grip onto Peter and grab Lucy so she's in between Peter and I.

Peter then plunged his sword deep into the ice just before the waterfall finished cracking and water to come out and causing the ice to break apart making it drop near us and breaking the ice around us as it pushed us away and down the river.

We went under water for a few seconds before we submerged, breathing heavily as we took massive breaths to help cool us down. I could feel Lucy slipping, so I pulled her closer towards me. But since I didn't have a good enough grip on Peter both Lucy and I went into the river but it doesn't seem that Peter nor Susan or Mr and Mrs Beaver noticed our absence, as we were swept by the current.

PETER'S POV

As we came near to a ledge Susan got off the ice-make-raft that we used. Mr and Mrs Beaver also got off the ice raft. I was the last one to get up as I had to pull my sword out from the ice before standing up, but I wobbled a bit.

I felt a coat in my hand causing me to look down and look at it with wide eyes as I remember it as Lucy's, I then looked up in horror as I couldn't find Nala as well. I looked back up and saw Susan looking at me with horror in her eyes as she looked at the drenched fur coat in my hands.

"What have you done?" Susan yelled as she looked at me. "Lucy! Nala! Lucy! Nala!" Susan yelled out as we looked out at the river in hopes to find our sister and the girl I have desperately fallen in love with.

If something happened to the both of them I would break down, not only would I have lost my little sister but a girl I have fallen for.

I remember when I first saw Nala, she was so beautiful, with her hair hang loosely around her shoulders and down her back, I remember how she showed us to our rooms, everything that we did together flashed through my eyes causing my eyes to slightly tear up as I thought about her.

I would never get to tell her how I really feel about her now, I would never know what it's like to grow up with her and to see her with our children and maybe grandchildren when we get to our old age, I would never get to hold her again and most importantly get to kiss her and call her mine.

"Has anyone seen my coat?" I heard Lucy's voice causing me to turn around and saw Nala and Lucy walking towards us, Nala rubbing her hands up and down Lucy's arm to help her keep warm.

"Don't you worry, dear. Your brother's got you well looked after." Mr Beaver said but I didn't pay any attention to what he said as I put Lucy's coat around her causing her to smile up at me.

"Thank you." I heard Susan say causing Lucy and I to turn and see Susan hugging Nala in a tight hug causing Lucy to giggle.

"It's the least I can do." Nala muttered and she hugged Susan back. "I find Lucy like the little sister I've ever wanted." I heard Nala mutter causing me to smile as I walked over towards Susan and Nala.

I saw Susan whisper something in Nala's ear causing Nala to blush, I think. Susan then pulled away and saw me walking over and moved away and shoved Nala into me causing me to catch Nala and pull her into a hug causing her to tense for a second before relaxing and returning the hug.

"I thought I lost you." I muttered in her hair as I brought her closer towards me.

"You will never lose me." I heard her mutter into my neck causing me to shiver as I felt her warm breath fan over my slightly cold skin.

"I don't think you'll be needing those coats anymore." Mrs Beaver's said causing Nala and I to pull away from each other an looked at where everyone else is looking.
