Name of Author:Hi! I'm Jada, aka @letmelivetonight

Title of Book:Otherworldly

Favorite Authors:Stephen King, Sarah Dessen, Tolkien, and J K Rowling are some of my favorite authors. I could name more but the list would never end!

Bio:I'm 25 years old and I live in Indiana in the US with my husband and our three amazing kids. In my spare time I'm a writer and a Wattpad Ambassador! I've been on Wattpad for just over two years and I've loved every minute!

Can you explain what your book is all about?Otherworldly is about a young girl named Tamsyn who discovers she comes from a long line of royal faeries. But the Seelie and Unseelie aren't exactly the creatures from bedtime stories, and Tamsyn's new powers are more curse than gift. If that isn't bad enough she attracts the attention of a dangerous sorcerer and a wicked queen determined to destroy one another–but not before Tamsyn is put in the middle. Except choosing sides could cost her everything. Tamsyn must decide–between a faerie crown... or execution...

Who is your target audience - and why?

My target audience are young adults simply because I think they would have an easier time connecting with Tamsyn. However, Otherworldly is definitely made for older readers to enjoy as well.

What is 'paranormal' about your story?

I would say the creatures and setting definitely give Otherworldly it's paranormal element. There are man-eating beasts, vampires, an ice castle, a magic cave, and a girl who can't be lied to. Of course I have a ton of other cool examples but it would be much more fun to read them! ; )

Does it contain other genre elements, if so which ones - and why?

Otherworldly is also teen fiction with a splash of romance and mystery. I always find myself crossing multiple genres when I write a story, and that's probably because I enjoy reading stories that are similarly written.

Tell us about your writing process - how do you get from story idea to a Wattpad published story?

My story idea usually starts as a little seed that quickly sprouts random characters and subplots. Then, when I feel like I have enough information to work with, I draft the first chapter. I go over it a couple of times, bang my head on my keyboard, then edit it all over again. Afterwards, when I have the first chapter complete... I post it on Wattpad. Crazy, huh? I wish I could say that I outline everything and write the entire book first... but that would be a hopeless lie. I write each chapter on the fly, taking notes in between, and once said chapter is done I upload it to Wattpad. So far, I've completed three different books with this process!

Did you encounter any challenges when writing, if so - how did you overcome them?

When it comes to writing, my biggest challenge is always the same – staying on track long enough to finish one book before I start another. Otherworldly took me twice as long to finish as it should have because I kept letting myself get distracted with other projects. And the way I overcame my bad habit was by setting myself goals. I gave myself strict writing deadlines and had my family hold me accountable (and keep me motivated) when I slipped. Sharing your writing with friends and family might seem kinda scary, but their support is always helpful.

You often hear that 'writing well' is the baseline for success. What does that mean for you?

Writing well leads to all kinds of awesome results – like writing growth and opportunities like Watty awards or having your story featured on Wattpad. Writing well is a reward in itself because it boosts your confidence when you can step back and be proud of something that you put all your precious time and effort into. Basically, when you write well you do well – which I think is definitely a baseline for success.
