Chapter 12

"Drugging the food is not an option because of the children. We have to go in," Hotch said, covering the food with the container's lid.

Rossi nods. "The best time to hit them is when they're least mentally prepared."

An agent walked in, contributing to the plan. "At 3 a.m., biorhythms are at their lowest point."

People were putting food in containers, and they were packing it quickly. Some were serving the food while others placed it neatly in a box so it wouldn't spill.

"We need a diversion, something that plays into his expectations," Derek said, looking up at the board, marker in hand.

"Cyrus brought up Waco."

"Right," Rossi nods, trailing off.

"I know exactly how to use that. We need some Humvees." He said, walking out.

"The plan depends on Daniella and Reid to separate the diehards from the followers," Hotch said, writing on the board and circling a few things that were already written.

Derek moved his hand. "And delay Cyrus' diehards from reacting to our assault."

Hotch shook his head, and the agent was on the phone. He didn't have much interest in Cyrus; he just wanted his agents and the women, men, and children safe.

"That's not my main concern," Hotch says. "Reid and Daniella know what they need to do."

Derek began to spin in his chair, quietly mocking him. "So, what is your concern?"

Hotch turned to him. "Letting them know when we're coming. The whole thing hinges on them being ready for us at 3 a.m.

Hotch looks around and grabs a tin foil cover. "Perfect."

Derek pats Hotch on the back. "Let's hope it's just that easy."

They watched as the officer delivered the food, and they moved the small antenna for signal. The sun was finally setting and it was soon to be dark.

Daniella tried to move the blinds with her shoe, instantly regretting not wearing shoes like Prentiss. She let out a sigh, trying again until she finally managed to pry it open.

"If you can hear me, for the love of God," she breathed out. "I know you're coming. I can try to gather the women and children down to the tunnel, but I need to know when you're coming. "

The antenna moved to where there was sound.

Derek was circling things on the map when the agent came up to him.

"What is it?" Derek asked.

"It's Kenyon, she's talking to us," he said, turning on the walkie-talkie.

"If you can hear me, I know you're coming, but I need to know when you're coming so I can get the women and children to the tunnel."

Derek looked at everyone, and the agent looked at him. He grabbed some binoculars and he grabbed the car keys, just in case.

"Let's go," he said.

Derek followed the agent, and Daniella winced a bit before licking her lips, muttering a quick motherfucker under her breath when she hit herself on the window sill.

"I can try to get the women and children down to the tunnel, but I need to know when you're coming," she sighed.

Derek and the agent ran a bit and hid behind a stack of hay, Derek using the binoculars to see her foot, propped open the blinds.

"I need to know when you're coming," She sighed as she repeated. If you can hear me, I need to know—

She saw a red laser on her shoe, and she turned to the wall feeling very relieved.

"Okay, okay," she said, trying to sit up. "What time? What time? "

Derek turned the laser on and off three times, and Daniella turned to the window.

"3 a.m?" she asked.

She saw the laser go up and down and she nodded. "Understood."

She let out a breath.

"Reid is on the first floor somewhere with Cyrus. "Please remember, there are children here," she said rather quickly, taking a deep breath. "Someone's coming."

She put her foot down, and Reid was looking at the letters written on the tin foil cover. He made a face, and Cyrus dropped the container on top of it.

"I know what you're thinking," Cyrus said, his expression unreadable.

Reid looked up at him quietly, not understanding.

"You don't have to be a part of this, you can go," he said.

Reid shook his head politely, not being able to let himself leave Daniella alone with him or his men. "I think I'd prefer to stay. Somebody needs to tell your story. "

Cyrus nodded. "Then I'm glad it'll be you."

He walked to where the boxes were being placed. "Now that the non-believers have been cleared from our midst, we must make our final preparation."

Cyrus got on his knees and pulled out two explosives. Reid looked at him and looked around.

Daniella sat up as Jessica's mother brought her a cup of water. She sat next to her and gave her water.

"Cyrus is planning mass suicide," Daniella said, getting to the point. "You made that 9-1-1 call."

She closed her eyes and let out a breath. "This is all my fault. None of this would have happened if I hadn't made that call. "

Daniella gave her a small smile and shook her head. "You were trying to protect your daughter."

She nodded. "There were other girls before Jessie. He-he would marry them in secret, and after a while he'd take another, and we weren't permitted to speak of it, and so when she asked for my consent, I wanted to just take her and run, but I was afraid. She wouldn't leave him. "

Daniella looked at her. "You wanted us to take her?"

She nodded again. "Well, I wanted to save her from Cyrus."

Daniella looked at her. "I can give you another chance. The FBI is coming here at 3 a.m. I need you to gather Jessica, the kids, and the other women—get them into the basement just before 3 a.m.

She stood up and shook her head. "Why are you telling me this?"

She looked at her with sad eyes. "Because I have faith that you are a strong enough woman to do the right thing for Jessica."

She looked at Daniella, confusion and hesitation flickering in her eyes before leaving, causing Daniella to sigh.

"Damn it," she muttered.

Hotch stared at the church from a distance, and Rossi walked up to him. They were quiet, both of them already thinking of two outcomes to this.

"I know I can't go in," Hotch said.

Rossi looks at the church. "I'm going."

"If something happens to Daniella or Reid, I don't know," he said, shaking his head.

Rossi looks at him and nods. "You're not alone."

The men were connecting the explosives as Jessica's mother passed by. She looked at them and one of the guys flashed the light at her, so she continued to walk down the stairs.

Cyrus disconnected the explosives and put them on the chair. Reid looked at him and he was afraid, but he didn't plan on leaving Daniella alone. He remained calm, focusing on what they were doing.

Daniella sighed, hoping she hadn't sabotaged the team's plan.

The woman woke up her daughter, and the other guys put on their gear. They were getting guns, and Daniella turned when the door opened.

"You were right. "They're setting the place to blow up," she said, untying her. "I told Jessie that Cyrus wanted her to gather the women and children."

She moved away after she was untied. "Where's the man I came in with?"

She threw the rope. "He's in the chapel with Cyrus. It's 2:45 though, we have to hurry! "

She grabbed Daniella's arm and they both hurried out of the room.

The trucks were moving towards the church, and Cole came into the church while Cyrus was reading the Bible. Reid stood up, his mind thinking of the unthinkable.

"Something's wrong," Cole said.

Cyrus put his glasses away and walked towards the door. A man moved the wood piece, and Cyrus cracked the door open to see trucks driving into the ranch.

"They lied to us," Cyrus said.

Cole stepped next to him. "Should we do it now?"

Cyrus closed the door in disbelief. "No, let them get closer."

Cyrus grabbed a yellow control and a gun before Cole opened the door, Cyrus stepping out angry.

"What are you doing?" Cole asked.

"Making sure the press is watching."

He began to shoot up in the air. "They're going to want to see this."

He continued to shoot and the trucks stopped. He stopped shooting and he looked down at the remote.

"This is it. The moment of faith. "

He walked back into the church, and Daniella checked to see if the halls were clear. She waved at them to come forward, and the women and children followed her.

One of the FBI members threw in a smoke bomb and shot the man with the gun. They immediately moved him away as Cole went to see Cyrus.

"It came from inside the building," he said.

Cyrus shook his head. "Go check the fuses."

Cole nodded at another man. "Go."

Daniella appeared with the kids, and Derek walked up to her quickly, wrapping his arms around her, letting out a breath.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"They've got explosives," she said, her breath short.

"Everybody, everybody, come on."

Derek turned to Daniella. "Where's Reid?"

She looked at him. "In the chapel with Cyrus."

Rossi came up to them. "We've gotta get you out of here."

She shook her head. "No, we have to get Reid."

Her eyes watered. She could not bare the thought of losing the only guy she was in love with. If she had to protect him, she would, even if it meant giving up her life for his.

"Daniella, I will get Reid. "Get out of here, get to safety," Derek ordered. "Go now!"

She turned to leave, and Jessica growled at her mother. Cyrus didn't call for this. You lied to me! "

The woman grabbed her daughter by the shoulders. "No! Cyrus lied to you, honey.

Jessica moved her mother away. "He-he can't! He can't-he's my husband! "

Jessica ran off into the building and her mother tried to go after her, but Derek and Daniella grabbed her quickly.

"I will get her for you. Get out now. Torre, get your boys. "Let's do this now," Derek called out.

Derek and the other members went into the building.

Reid stood behind Cole. "Jeremiah 29:11-I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. plans to bring you hope and a future. Is blowing yourself up part of the prosperous future God wants? "

Cyrus moved away from the door and pointed the rifle at Reid, annoyed at the man's way of bribery.

"You think you know the word better than I?"

Reid looked at him and exhaled. "No, I'm just demonstrating that you can use the bible to manipulate anything."

Cyrus glared at him. "Matthew 10:24-Do not suppose I have come to the earth to bring peace. "I came not to bring peace, but a sword."

He hit Reid in the stomach.

"Ah!"

Cyrus glared at him. "You cannot convert my brother."

He hit Reid again, and this time he fell. He looked up at Cyrus while the FBI members disconnected the explosives.

"No one had to follow. "God could've stopped me."

Torre shot Cole and Derek shot Cyrus, both of them falling onto the ground.

"He just did," Reid said, catching his breath.

"Clear!"

"Are you alright?" Morgan asked.

Reid didn't care about himself at the moment. He was worried about Daniella.

"Fine, where is she?" He asked.

"We got her out of here," Derek said.

Reid got up and saw Jessica.

"Sweetheart, come with me. We need to get you out of here. Come on. Let's go right now. "

She looked at Cyrus, dead on the floor, and she saw the remote. She was slowly reaching for it when Reid grabbed Morgan.

"Run!"

Jessica pressed the button and the church blew up.

"Come on, keep moving, please," Torre said.

Daniella turned to the building and her eyes watered. It was engulfed in flames, and she didn't see the two people she was expecting.

"Reid?" She called out. "Morgan?"

She stood there waiting and waiting until two figures appeared and they started coughing.

"We're okay," Derek called out.

Tears flowed down her cheeks and she let out a breath in relief. She went up the stairs, and Reid had finished coughing.

"I think all the kids are out," Hotch said.

Rossi shook his head. "Where's Jessie?"

Daniella wrapped her arms around Reid, and he wrapped his arms around her tightly. Morgan smiled at the two before walking down to Hotch and Rossi, giving them a moment of privacy. Reid whispered something in Daniella's ear and she nodded, not moving just yet, enjoying the feeling of his embrace.

After a few minutes, they moved away, and he grabbed her hand as they walked down the stairs. The woman looked at her, and Daniella embraced her as the woman broke down.
