Kiss Me- Ed Sheeran

A/N: AU where Ed is still in highschool

Knock Knock Knock

I groaned, this was not the sound I was wanting to be waking up to. It was Christmas holiday, and after Christmas my parents had flown back to Florida to visit our family there. I had the option to stay here, so I did. I had passed out on the couch while watching Netflix last night.

I pulled the blanket back and got off the couch and made my way to the front door, opening it to reveal Ed Sheeran, my best friend.

I ran a hand through my golden brown hair, more than likely messing it up, and said, "Yes, Ed? What's up?" I yawned before stepping aside, motioning for him to walk into my house.

He entered, looking at the pile of blankets on my large, plush couch, the pizza box, soda bottles, and ice cream carton on the floor. He then turned and looked at me, my back against the now closed door, in sweats and white t-shirt that is falling off my shoulder, I wasn't even wearing a bra. My hair was no doubt a nest atop my head. I chuckled, looking at the goofy grin on Ed's face.

"I just thought I'd come and see you, even though it's Christmas holidays but our families don't do much, and I thought maybe we could write some music together, I know how much you love to sing and write lyrics," he explained before sitting on the couch, next to the nest I had made for myself.

I walked over to the couch, picking up the pizza box, bottles, and ice cream carton and tossed them in the kitchen trash. I made my way back into the living room, sitting in the nest of blankets and pillows in the corner of my L-shaped couch.

"I'd be more than happy to write some stuff with you! Why don't you go grab my notebook? You know where it's at," I replied. He nodded eagerly and got up, going into my room and finding that notebook. My songbook, it's got every lyric I have written since Ed and I met, back in middle school.

We met because my parents decided to move to Halifax. This was such a big change for 12 year-old me, seeing as we went from Miami, Florida to living in the U.K. I met Ed at school, we had a few classes together. We didn't talk until the end of our 8th grade year, and that's okay.

However, I had the biggest crush on him since we met, and said crush still exists. His gorgeous red hair and icy blue eyes. Ugh, his looks are to die for. This was when I wrote my first lyrics, in that notebook. You know what they were? 'I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet." I've showed these lyrics to Ed, but I don't think he knows they are about him.

Ed and I first talked when I was walking to the cafeteria for lunch, and I had gotten pushed into him, my food spilling all over the front of his shirt and jeans. This resulted in him just laughing, and me apologizing profusely. Then him assuring me that everything was alright, and him offering to sit with me, and give me some of his lunch.

I smiled, thinking of these memories. Ed plopped back down on the couch next to me, saying, "What are you smiling about you psycho?"

I laughed, crossing my legs and saying, "Oh, nothing Eddy. Flip through there and let me know if you see anything that you find interest in." I played some game on my phone while he was flipping through pages, trying to find interesting lyrics that he was in the mood to go off of right now.

"Oh!" Ed exclaimed, causing me to jump at the unexpected break in the silence.

"Mmm, did you find something?" I asked as I set my phone down in the pile of blankets in my lap.

"Yeah, I like these lyrics. 'I'm falling for your eyes but they don't know me yet'. When did you write that, again? And who is it about?" He interrogated slightly.

I felt my face heat up and my heart rate quicken. I looked away from him, my long hair hiding my face.

"I uhm...I wrote that when I was like 12. And I can't tell you who it's about, I'm sorry, Ed," I said to him, fiddling with my phone case. I bit on my bottom lip. I wanted to tell him, I needed to tell him. It's our senior year, and it's already half over. We'll both be off to university soon.

I swallowed hard. I should tell him. I should just get it over with and spill my guts. I should tell him.

"Y/N, why can't you tell me? I'm your best friend! You know you should be able to tell me anything," His voice quivered as if he was wounded by my silence on this crush I had. He's right, I know I could tell him. Even knowing this, I am still afraid that he will not reciprocate those feelings for me. But I also know that if i refuse to tell him, he won't press any further.

"Hey, hey, I know. Don't be upset, please. I know I didn't tell you, and that I should have. But it's hard for me to admit who it is. How about this- I describe them to you and you try to guess while you find more lyrics in that book," I said getting up and going into my room for a minute. I grabbed another notebook off my shelf and went back into the living room where Ed watched me with curious eyes.

"Fine, that works. Also I like this one: 'like you wanna be loved'. I feel like it could go with the other one I found," He commented. I nodded and settled back into the blanket nest.

"Okay so I've known him since I first moved here. And I know that is really vague because I've known lots of people since then. But I'm really close with this particular person. He's everything to me. I wrote those lyrics about him because the colour of his eyes stunned me and absolutely blew me away. They're blue but it's such a unique blue and I have never known anyone with eyes like his. But when we first met and I first developed feelings for him, he didn't know me that well, and I didn't talk to him. So that's why I wrote that. I was falling in love with him, and he hadn't even given me a second glance at that point. I was falling for him, for his eyes. But his eyes have never really looked at me before then." I could feel my heart rate continuously increasing, with no chance of it slowing down. I glanced over at Ed, who's face was also a lovely shade of pink.

"It...It's me, isn't it?" He asked.

My breath caught in my throat so I bit on my lip and nodded slowly.

"Kiss me," he said.

"Wait what? Ed, you're insane." I shook my head, excited to finally have this chance but not knowing what to do with it.

He moved closer to me, his lips centimeters from mine.

"So? Kiss me. Like you want to be loved."

And with that, his lips crashed onto mine and the world seemed to be at peace for once.
