The Hidden Mark & Love- Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter)

Requested by JulzLovDraco4Eva. Thank you so much for your request! I hope you like it!

Y/N sat on her bed, textbooks spread out in front of her while she took notes, studying for a potions exam. She spent a lot of time studying these days, as her boyfriend, Draco, was very distant. Sure, she still spent a lot of her time with her friends Harry, Ron, and Hermoine, but the time she usually spent with Draco was now filled with studying, reading, drawing, or anything else to keep her mind from wandering too much and over thinking him being distant.

She sighed lightly, setting her notebook down and stretching before rubbing her eyes. She missed when she and Draco would go on little adventures on the weekend, whether it was sneaking off to Hogsmeade or walking around the school grounds. Now, her weekends typically looked like this, unless she was getting into mischief with the trio of friends. Who, thankfully, tried doing all they could do to keep her mind off of Draco and from blaming herself for his actions.

"Y/N! Y/N!" Came Hermione's voice as she ran into the Gryffindor dormitory. She sounded panicked, which immediately piqued Y/N's interest as it meant that she would start doing something more interesting than studying.

"Hermione? What's going on? Is everything alright?" Y/N asked, starting to close her textbooks before leaning forward and stacking them neatly on top of the trunk at the foot of her bed.

"No! Harry and Draco got into another fight, being typical boys, except this time it was different. Draco...He-He's in the Hospital Wing," Hermione said, catching her breath towards the end.

Y/N looked at her concerned, knowing it must have been pretty bad if Hermione ran this whole way to tell her what happened.

"How bad is he hurt?" Y/N said, furious that Harry had hurt Draco bad enough to send him to the Hospital Wing. She quickly slipped on her shoes.

"His wrist was either sprained or broken, I'm not entirely sure but as soon as I saw Crabbe run over and start helping Draco to the Hospital Wing," Hermione said as they started jogging down the corridors toward the Hospital Wing.

When they approached the doorway to the Hospital Wing, Y/N looked at Draco laying in one of the beds on the opposite side of the room and her heart stopped seeing him like that as Madam Pomfrey tended to him, assessing his injury.

"I'll leave you be. Come talk to me later, okay?" Hermione said, putting a reassuring hand on Y/N's shoulder. Y/N nodded, thankful to have such a supportive friend in Hermione.

Hermione was the first one to accept Y/N's relationship with Draco, while Harry and Ron didn't like the idea until toward the end of their 4th year. Y/N didn't tell the trio about their relationship until after they got back from the Christmas Holidays. Y/N and Draco only started dating at the Yule Ball of that year, when Draco had asked her to be his girlfriend while they were dancing. She of course said yes, and they spent the majority of their Christmas Holiday together.

It was now their 6th year, and Y/N and Draco had a very good relationship, other than his recent distance. However, this didn't stop Harry and Ron from their occasional squabbles with Draco, but Y/N and Hermione summed it up to boys being boys and didn't think much of it. Besides, there were times when all 5 of them would hang out, and the boys would be more or less civil, which Y/N knew was their way of silently agreeing to at least pretend to get along for Y/N's sake and to keep her happy.

Y/N thought about all of this as she walked over to Draco, which made her even angrier that he and Harry couldn't seem to put their differences aside for more than a month at a time unless she and Hermione were there to regulate the situation.

Draco had taken notice of her as she approached him. Y/N didn't know what to say to him, feeling both worried about him and slightly frustrated with his recent behaviour towards her. She waited patiently for Madam Pomfrey to finish examining his wrist.

"Okay, Mr Malfoy," Madam Pomfrey said, "I've healed it, but I would still like for you to stay in the Hospital Wing overnight, just to monitor it and make sure your pain isn't too bad."

"Thank you," Draco said, looking at Y/N rather than Madam Pomfrey, who nodded silently at him and walked away.

Y/N moved to stand at the foot of Draco's bed, crossing her arms over her chest and giving him a stern look. She knew he was in pain and Harry was definitely in the wrong for hurting him, but she also knew that it was most likely Draco who instigated it.

He glanced away from her, looking at his wounded arm. He licked his lips before looking back at her.

"Y/N, I'm sorry," He said. His voice was sad, which was different from all of the other times he got into fights with Harry. He normally was apologetic, sure, but he usually apologised to her with a smirk on his face, rather than a sad look.

"For fighting with Harry again? This is normal for you two! I'm angrier at him than I am at you. I was just worried about you," Y/N said, uncrossing her arms. "But I do know that you probably started it, as you tend to do."

"No, not for that. Well, only a little for that. I mean, I'm sorry for being so distant," He said, looking away from her again.

"Oh," she said, looking out the window above his bed, hoping he would give more of an explanation. Usually, Draco couldn't seem to get enough of her and he spent every chance he could with her.

"I just..I didn't want to hurt you.." His voice sounded like he was trying to hold back tears.

"Draco, what did you do? What are you talking about?" Y/N said, her heart picking up pace. She had no idea what Draco could be about to tell her. Could he have cheated on her? What could he have possibly done that could have caused him to be so distant since they started their 6th year?

Draco took a deep breath and slowly lifted up the sleeve of his shirt, revealing the Dark Mark branded on his forearm.

Y/N gasped, her hand reaching out to grab the frame at the foot of the hospital bed he was in, as she was starting to feel light-headed and needed something solid to stabilise herself. She looked around, making sure no one else was in the Hospital Wing but them.

"Draco, what in the bloody hell did you do?!" She whispered harshly, her knuckles turning white from gripping the frame of his bed so tightly.

"Y/N listen, please," He said, pulling his sleeve back down. She turned her head away.

"Draco...I-I can't.." she started to say. She thought about just walking away from him right then and there and never talking to him again. How could he have gone and joined The Death Eaters and not told her about it?!

So many thoughts started racing through her head that it made her head swim. She let go of the bed frame, preparing herself to walk away from him, the guy that she loved and trusted more than anyone else she has ever known.

"Y/N! Please!" He said, noticing her turn her body toward the door.

Anxiety flooded Draco. He knew he had messed up, and should have told her from the beginning what happened. After all, they did spend most of their summer holiday together, and even though Lucius forced him to join The Death Eaters just before the start of their 6th year, he knew that his father was threatening him with it while they were spending their summer strolling through Hogsmeade or in her back garden, talking about anything and everything. But he couldn't lose her over this, he needed her now more than ever.

She slowly took a few steps away from him when she reached her hand up to her face, and Draco knew she was wiping tears from her eyes.

"Y/N...I did it for you," he said, hoping she would turn back to him and he could explain exactly what had happened and that she would understand.

She stopped in her tracks and turned slightly toward him, but not facing him directly. She knew he didn't like to see her cry, especially if it was his actions causing it, but he usually always did something to make her feel better.

"Listen, Malfoy, you have 2 minutes to explain yourself, and it better be a good explanation," she said, coming back to the foot of his bed. Draco knew he was in trouble, as Y/N only called him by his last name if she was really upset with him. Usually after fights with Harry, but also when he had done something stupid like forgot her birthday.

"My father..." Draco started, looking around to make sure no one else had entered the Hospital Wing. "He threatened to hurt me if I didn't join The Death Eaters. And when I still refused, he threatened to hurt my friends. Which still, wasn't great but wasn't enough to get me to join. But then he threatened to hurt you and your family if I didn't. And Y/N, I couldn't live with myself if something had happened to you. Trust me, I didn't want this. But I wanted to protect you at all costs, even if it meant becoming a Death Eater."

Her heart sank. Draco had practically signed his life away to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in order to protect her and keep her safe from his father. Lucius truly was an evil man.

"Oh, Draco," Y/N said, going around to his side to bend down and hug him tightly. She had missed his hugs, as the only interactions they'd had recently were just quick conversations in passing about classes and him making up some excuse to go elsewhere.

He hugged her tightly, pulling her to sit next to him on his left side and put his arm around her.

"So, how bad was the damage?" She said, motioning to his right wrist that was bandaged after Madam Pomfrey fixed it.

"Just a sprain, thankfully. It still hurts," he said as she snuggled into his side.

"I missed this," Y/N said softly, her right hand tracing over his sleeve where the Dark Mark was.

"I know, love," he said, resting his head on top of hers. "I know I should have told you, but I also knew that you'd be mad about it and I didn't want to upset you, which I still did and again, I'm sorry."

"It's okay. Just please, don't keep big things like this from me again," Y/N said.

"I wouldn't dream of it."

Y/N spent the night with Draco in the tiny hospital bed. She wasn't complaining though, as she loved being snuggled up close to him.

"Draco, since Christmas Holidays start next weekend, do you want to come to stay with my family for the holiday?" Y/N had asked the next day as they had left the Hospital Wing. "I figured you could use a break from your father."

"I would love that," Draco replied.

Y/N spent the last week before the holiday spending most of her time either with Draco or Ron and Hermione, as she was refusing to talk to Harry, despite his numerous apologies. But it was now the last day, and Y/N and Draco were in their own compartment, next to the one with her trio of friends. She could hear them laughing and talking as she and Draco talked about things they wanted to do over the holiday.

They were almost at King's Cross when Ron, Hermione, and Harry came into their compartment.

"Well, go on, Harry," Hermione said, nudging him.

"Y/N, Draco, again, I am sorry. I don't see what good it's going to do apologising for the dozenth time, but Hermione here is insisting," Harry said, looking annoyed at Hermione.

Y/N looked up at Harry sternly. "Fine, I forgive. Just please, stop fighting you two. Harry, you were my first friend at Hogwarts and I know you two have your own issues but can you two please get along, even if you're just pretending to, for the next year and a half of school?"

Draco and Harry exchanged disgruntled looks but agreed.

Y/N and Draco had a wonderful Christmas Holiday together, and he got along incredibly well with her family. She couldn't have asked for a better Christmas Holiday.

She and Draco were standing at Platform 9 3/4 now, waiting for everyone else, and the Hogwarts Express, to arrive.

"There you two are!" Came Hermione's squeal when she spotted Y/N and Draco. Hermione came running up to them, leaving Ron and Harry to drag along her luggage.

"Hey!" Y/N said, embracing Hermione in a hug once she got there.

"How was your Holiday?" Hermione asked Y/N once they pulled away from the hug.

"Oh, good. Nothing too exciting happened, except for this," Y/N said, showing off her left hand which now had a wedding ring.

"Oh my god!? When did that happen?" Hermione said, looking at the simple but beautiful ring closely.

"Christmas Day, actually," Draco said, putting a protective arm over Y/N as Ron and Harry approached. Hermione pulled Y/N's hand to show the boys.

"Yeah, it was a private ceremony. Just us and my parents, really," Y/N explained.

"We're so happy for you!" Hermione squealed, looking at the couple.

Draco gave Y/N a kiss on her temple, and both of them knew that they'd be together forever, no matter what.
