56 | i couldn't have done this without you

Jordan exited his dorm and pulled on a jacket after he closed the door behind him. The boy was taken by surprise when he looked up to see Josie standing outside his dorm, her arm outstretched to knock. "Jordy.." Josie exhaled.

"Jo.." An awkward silence filled the air, before Josie sighed. "Jordan... I'm sorry. I should never have said what I did. I had no right to judge you—"

"You're right. You didn't. You know I've always been so scared about getting into relationships with girls for this very reason..." The witch trailed off, as Josie nodded as she wore a look of guilt.

"I really like you Jo.. but I think for now it's best if we... try to be just friends for now." Jordan said. Josie gave a weak nod, before the taller boy walked past her to go to the cafeteria.

Josie's eyes filled with tears, as the memory still lingered in her mind, of the night things went wrong between herself and Jordan.

Josie sat on the bed, dark magic still flowing through her veins. Things were getting serious between her and Jordan, as the pair were on Josie's bed, in the middle of a heated make out session. One thing lead to another and now they were intending on having sex.

Jordan realised he didn't have a condom, and left to grab one from his dorm, leaving Josie alone. The Saltzman grew curious and opened up the large book Penelope gave her, including all of the journal entries of students within the school.

She read the most recent one about Jordan, which he had written about how scared he was to mess up what he had with Josie. He had never had a girlfriend, all of his romantic experience was with guys. He then mentioned his exes in the journal entry, how he thought he'd never fall in love again after being with them.. but he was starting to think that Josie could possibly be the one. Though he was quite insecure that he could mess things up, with his lack of experience, and didn't know what to do from here.

Josie couldn't explain the feeling that washed over her. The rage from the very thought of Jordan being with others... even though the relationships were in the past. The thought of him leaving her because he was too afraid of messing their relationship up.

Jordan came back into the room, holding up a condom. "I found a monster condom to use for my magnum..." He trailed off, not finishing the joke as he sensed that the demeanour in the room had changed.

"Josie... are you alright?" He asked softly, as he approached her. Josie looked up at Jordan, "You know what... I've changed my mind. You should just stick to boys, considering that's all you know." Jordan's jaw dropped, upon hearing this. "Jo.."

"Just leave, Jordan."

And with that, the couple didn't speak for a few days, before Josie inevitably apologised and Jordan decided he wanted a break.

Ruby entered the school suddenly, as Hope and Monica (who were also in the corridor) smile brightly upon her arrival. Hope approached Ruby and cupped her cheeks gently before she kissed her. Ruby wore a smile as she kissed the tribrid back. "That's a bit.. gay.." Monica stated as the girlfriend's broke apart. "Really?" Ruby asked sarcastically.

"I know you weren't gone for that long but.. I missed you." Hope said, looking to Ruby with a loving smile. Ruby couldn't help but to smile back brightly, "I missed you too, my love."

"Am I going to be the one to ask the obvious question here? Where is your brother?" The vampire asked, catching the couple's attention.

"He's staying with our Dad for a couple more days." Ruby said, "You didn't want to stay longer too?" Hope quickly asked as Ruby shook her head, "He's a really lovely guy... but I really missed the family that I have here." She admitted, which caused Hope to smile from ear to ear.

Monica sighed, "Don't you two ever get sore cheekbones from smiling at eachother so much?" She asked, but before they could answer she added, "I'm gonna go join Lizzie and Jordan in the cafeteria."

❤︎

Lizzie, Hope, Ruby, Monica and Jordan sat together at the cafeteria table. Usually Rafael, Josie and Landon would join them, but clearly Rafael was absent, Landon was currently showing Sebastian around the school and Josie was sitting with others.

"I can't believe I am sharing a dorm with Alyssa Chang." Hope sighed, before she looked to Ruby. "I wish we could share a dorm again." She admitted. "Yeah well too bad— Not gonna happen!" Monica spoke up with a teasing grin.

Since Hope and Monica had jumped into the Malivore pit, making everybody forget about them, Alyssa had been roomed with Ruby. Obviously Alyssa wasn't Ruby's kind of person, so she moved into a vacant dorm, being the dorm that Monica and Penelope used to share. Now that Hope and Monica were back, Monica had been roomed with Ruby and Hope had been roomed with Alyssa, much to her disgust.

"If I was stuck sharing a dorm with Alyssa Chang... this school would cease to exist because we would have torn it down during a very destructive argument." Monica stated. Hope sighed knowing the vampire was right.

"I can't believe that he is going to be attending this school.." Lizzie said, keeping her hand intertwined with Monica's as they watched Landon and Sebastian walk through the cafeteria. "Dude really looks like he spent his life in a box... he needs a wardrobe change, asap." Monica stated with disgust.

"You know he has superhearing, right?" Ruby said as she expected the girlfriends to stop talking about the pirate boy. Monica just shrugged, "And? I want him to know that his fashion sense is wack." She declared. Ruby just sighed as she continued to eat.

Jordan seemed pretty quiet as he tapped away on his phone. Suddenly Monica had an idea, as she grabbed the phone from the younger boy. "Maybe we should set Jordan up with Mr Lame fashion taste." She suggested as Jordan frowned, "I'm sixteen. He looks to be about one million. Also, I just got out of a relationship." The witch huffed at her.

Ruby shrugged, "Well. Maybe you should at least give him a chance. As a friend I mean... it doesn't look like many people are being welcoming to him." She pointed out. Jordan nodded, "Well I guess that's the least I could do."

A weighted ball rolled towards Ruby's feet, she kicked it up in the air and it landed in Landon's arms but not before he grunted in pain at the sudden weight. The Waithe giggled at this.

"Hey Ruby." Jed said as he jogged towards the girl. Ruby turned to face the Tien and offered him a smile, "Hey Jed." She greeted before they fistbumped. Despite the rough beginnings between Jed and her brothers earlier in the year, Ruby got along with Jed quite well now.

"Where's your brother?" Jed asked curiously. "He's staying with our Dad for a while.. I think it'll be great for him." Ruby explained as Jed raised an eyebrow, "You didn't want to stay?" He asked as Ruby shrugged, "Kind of. But my family are here, so I was eager to get back." She replied. Jed grinned, "Don't get all sappy on me, Waithe." He teased, causing the girl to laugh and playfully roll her eyes.

Jed turned to Landon, and he quickly noticed Sebastian standing behind him, staring. Jed frowned, "Tell, uh, Captain Cheekbones he's got a weird staring problem." He huffed.

Landon turned to Sebastian, "It's okay. Lots of vampires can't be around one werewolf, let alone this many. Most vampires can't control their emotions. Downside of all the power, I guess." Sebastian just shrugged, "I think having no power would be far more concerning." He spoke, clearly throwing shade at Landon.

Ruby tried not to snort in amusement at this, before she offered her foster brother a sympathetic look. Quickly she turned away, to talk to Jed again only to notice that he was gone and back to playing with the wolves.

After Landon and Sebastian bickered, Landon turned to Jed and announced, "He'll play." As he pointed to Sebastian. Jed nodded before he gave Ruby a look, "Waithe? He asked. Ruby grinned, "Sure."

Moments later, the game started. Sebastian and Ruby were on the same team, and when the whistle was blown they raced forward to grab balls, as Sebastian used his vampire speed. Ruby and Sebastian dodged ball after ball, whilst throwing balls at the opposing team.

One member on the opposing team made an inappropriate comment about Ruby, and she caught it. She shot a glare before she hurled a ball at them, with enough force that they just about fell over. Her expression morphed into a grin as they left the court.

Jed threw a ball which hit Sebastian. The vampire fell to the ground, and the werewolves stepped back, worried for his reaction. Ruby on the other hand, didn't seem worried. Sebastian got back on his feet before he shot Jed a smile, "Well played, my lupine friend." Jed just smirked back, "Rematch anytime, bloodsucker."

"Anytime."

Sebastian turned to Ruby, "This is fun. We should play again sometime." He suggested as Ruby nodded, "Yeah for sure!" She said eagerly, liking the vampire's company.

Sebastian then smiled at the girl, "I must say, I've grown to like you Ruby." He admitted, finding the girl to be fun. Ruby just smiled back, as they left the gym.

"Okay, this is the final part of the test: hanging with the witches. Um, I'm warning you, don't push any buttons." Landon said as he lead Sebastian to the witches hangout spot. "Or you'll do what, die all over me?" Sebastian asked. "It's not me you should be worried about."

"Will you relax? Witches love me." Sebastian announced, before his eyes landed on Lizzie. The vampire couldn't help but to grin before he greeted, "Hello, Elizabeth.... and Monica?" He sounded confused, as she was a vampire.

Monica frowned, "I needed to get out of the cafeteria after that incident." She stated loudly in annoyance, so Alyssa would hear. "And so I followed Lizzie and Jordan and ended up here."

"Oh, you again." Sebastian said as his eyes darted to Alyssa. "I must say you just heal quickly."

"Right? It's like magic or something." Alyssa replied with sarcasm.

"And what magic is that crystal ball for?" Monica spoke up, as Alyssa answered, "Empathic trances. It lets us read feelings that are buried deep down. Can we read yours? Vampires have heightened emotions. It'll be a total rush. I, for one, would like that."

Monica shook her head, "Yeah fuck no. Why don't you read Pirate boy's inner feelings?" She suggested, which caused Alyssa to shrug, "Fine. But keep your jealousy issue in check, because his will probably involve Lizzie." She stated.

Monica lurched forward to go at Alyssa but Jordan quickly used his magic to put her back in her spot, not wanting a fight to break out between the pair. "Of course. I do love a good parlor trick." Sebastian said, to Alyssa's pleading look.

Alyssa placed the crystal ball up to Sebastian's chest. "I sense... fear. The modern world is terrifying to you. You're afraid they won't let you stay here at the school."

"That's not true." Sebastian replied.

"You're afraid they're gonna find out all the things you've done and throw you away, like trash off the side of a boat."

"Stop. Maybe we should—"

"You know Lizzie's better than you and that you don't deserve her. Though also deep down don't think that Monica deserves her either." Alyssa stated as Monica suddenly glared at Alyssa, with veins popping out from under her eyes. She knew Alyssa threw that comment in just to piss her off.

There was a high-pitched tone sounding, as Sebastian turned to Landon. The witches were using magic on him.

"Stop! Stop! Let him go." Lizzie said, leaping out of her spot. The witches stopped, and Sebastian left suddenly, feeling humiliated. Jordan frowned, feeling sorry for the pirate as he got to his feet to go after him, but not before he shot Alyssa one last glare.

The Luna witch followed the vampire, eventually finding him. "Hey..." Jordan said, catching his breath. Sebastian looked to Jordan, his shoulders shrinking. "Have you come to gloat, Jordan?" He asked. Jordan shook his head, before he took a seat beside the vampire. "I just wanted to see if you were okay." He insisted.

"The fundamental truth is that I am not." Sebastian sighed before turned to the Montgomery, who had a patient look. "Well. I've noticed that others haven't been welcoming to you... I'm sorry about that. Look if you want to rant about it... I'm happy to just sit here and listen." The raven haired boy said.

Sebastian tried to smile, but barely managed as he was visibly upset. "When I was eight years old, my parents, they sold me to a merchant ship. I hated that life, so every port we sailed to, I ran away. But the crew, they always found me again. And they devised very special punishments for me." He said, as Jordan looked surprised and disgusted.

"This is a cruel world, Jordan, and I expect very little from it. But I want Elizabeth, and I can see deep down that she wants me too. I guess none of that matters now since I failed Landon's test."

Jordan sighed, "No offence man, but there's no point pining after Lizzie. She is very much in love with my sister." He admitted, "But I'm very sorry... you deserve better." Jordan admitted with a sincere expression.
