Chapter Five
****

Why good day to you mortals, today I shall explain what happens right after these two met.

I wish to warn you... Even I cannot handle how adorable this is. I, death, should not be reacting in such a undignified manner. But what can I say... It's just too romantic and cute!

"I'm the Guardian of Order! You must be the Guardian of Chaos right?" Gray said.

Before this encounter, before reaching this destination, Gray had asked Mavis what kind of character his fellow Guardian was. He could not deny his brain was captivated from the mere thought of someone like him...

However he could never foretell him to be someone like this...

"P-pink... H-hair!"

The other man. His usual calm and stoic expression smashed down to earth as his head caught on fire.

"Wh-what... That's... S-supposed to mean!?" His stuttering and his inferno head was enough to catch Gray off guard. For once in his whole entire life, Gray was rendered completely and utterly speechless! His usual calm and cocky demeanour was annihilated the second this mans head caught on fire.

"Yo-your... YOUR HEAD!" He finally screamed out. How does one react calmly when another's head catches on fire. It's merely impossible. Overlooking the fact that the man was not harmed at all.

The flames soon died as the other man regained his posture. Fragments of minuscule flames however fluttered around his cheeks. 'Is that his version of blushing?' Gray thought.

Gray lifted one of his pale and colourless fingers and placed it on his face. Gray usually had cool skin, but when he touched it, it felt... Warm...

"What is your name... Flame Head?" A smirk played on Gray's lips as the words escaped his mouth. He had a quick tongue, so he sadly could not control his insults. He really needed reconstruct his personality for he was certain this was another reason why the Angels loathed him.

The pink haired... Or was it salmon? The other man scoffed at the failed insult.

"So you must be the Guardian of Order. Not once did it occur to me Mavis raised an imbecile!"

How despicable!

"Are you talking about yourself? Please do not speak so harshly about yourself. I am almost certain that you have some good qualities!"

Gray pleaded as he forced down another grin. He hadn't had this fun in millennia. He was allured by this man even though he could not fathom any clues to what his name was or why his hair was such a deranged colour.

The other man leering at Gray finally answered the first question.

"Natsu, Guardian of Chaos." He scowled as he finally answered. "Maybe we should start the meeting." Gray's eyes glazed over to see Natu sitting at one end of the table. Gray trudged over to sit on the opposite side of the circular table.

"So..." Gray whispered. Natsu, was really awkward to be with.

Gray studied Natsu's appearance. Those eyes fascinated Gray. Those honey brown eyes, holding thousands of shades whilst the colours seemed to ooze together harmonically. Melting and swirling slowly. The light reflecting creating a glow to form around his face.

Natsu seemed to be staring back at Gray. The two held eye contact and Gray felt his face become warmer.

And Gray couldn't catch his tongue fast enough. His brains reaction quite sluggish and too unperceptive for once, to comprehend what his body wanted to say.

"I like your name. It means summer, right? That's my favourite season! I like your hair too! It's such a beautiful shade of pink. I wish I had hair like that. My ones a plain dark blue colour. And I've never seen eyes as marvellous as yours" Gray rambled on as he tugged at the ends of his hair.

"Pardon!"

Gray's head metaphorically caught on fire. Although his friend in front of him literally caught on fire.

"I-I'm... I-I'm... So... So-sorry!"
Gray wanted to end his life there and then. He ruined his chance of a normal friendship with someone. How he dreamed to have a friend...

Tears... Something that usually and always streamed down his face, now rimmed his eyes.

Natsu smiled.

For once since Lisanna perished, Natsu smiled.

And Gray felt this new found emotion...

Love, was it?

As we continue our story about these two fellow Keepers of Time, I ponder and question how bonds could be ebbed away at. How promises kept by owners could wane slowly... Ever so slowly... Nothing lasts forever, for time destroys is all.
