- It's so kind of you to adopt one of the Peculiars! These poor kids had experienced unbearable pain, it will be a relief that they'll get the second chance - houseparent said to Kevin and Robin.

- As soon as we heard that there is such opportunity, we had no doubts it's the right thing to do - smaller man with wild dark hair and chocolate eyes replied.

- Yep! Since we can't adopt other kids, we thought of giving a home for a Peculiar, since we too are often called freaks - guy with blonde curls and light green eyes added.

- Alright! Here is our flock! - houseparent said and opened double door leading to a large playroom.

There were many kids playing there, looking very unusual. There was a boy with large bat-like wings, girl with vines instead of hair, kids with telekinesis power and much more. Nevertheless, they all were adorable.

Children were curious about the couple and asked them multiple questions. They also invited grown-ups to play with them and men had the opportunity to get to know them better.

- Aww! If I could, I would take all of them to our house! I can't decide! - Robin whined to his husband.

- You know, we don't have to decide right now. We can come here in our free time and then find the one - Kevin replied, letting one little girl play with his hair.

- I think it's a good idea - man replied and stood up - Now excuse me, I need to go to the toilet - he added and left the playroom. Kevin's gaze followed his lover and he slightly shook his head - that loveable dork...

Robin left the toilet and was about to go back to his husband and kids, when he noticed that the corridor on the left was slightly worrying. It was barely lit and it seemed like the further away, the bigger it was getting.

Intrigued man followed the corridor to the end, where to his eyes appeared gigantic metal door with smaller one placed next to them. On the bigger door there was a plate with blurry word starting with "B". Normal door was half-open.

Robin's curiosity has been piqued and he entered the room. It looked dingy, the wallpaper was falling off, there was a mold on the ceiling, the air was filled with unpleasant odour.

He suddenly hit in something. He gasped, seeing it was human-shaped.

- I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you like that! - he apologized. But when he didn't get any answer, he looked at the "human" and saw that it was in fact an incredibly realistic sculpture. It was a magician pulling a bunny out of a hat. Everything was precisely detailed, Robin could count every single strand in sculpture's hair, and its clothes? It looked like it was turned into stone, every ripple was so realistic, it was hard to believe it was just a sculpture.

But there was more sculptures. Almost every was circus themed - there were sculptures of clowns, acrobats, magicians, ring masters and of course, animals. There weren't only made of stone, few of them were wooden and painted.

Robin was strolling among them, praising their beauty and mimesis, until he heard repetitive hammering. He followed the sound and saw the author of sculptures, but he was shocked as he had imagined him differently.

Because in front of the man, a real, 45 foot tall giant was sitting, sculpting a block of stone with hammer and chisel. Giant was definitely a male, he had two long tusks sticking out of his mandible, had jet black, long hair tied up with a piece of rope. He was wearing clothes which looked like from medieval times. It was hard to tell how old he was, since his tusks were aging him, but he had to be a minor, since he was living in this orphanage.

Giant felt man's presence and having raised his head from the block, he gazed into stranger's eyes. Robin became charmed by these two beautiful, chartreuse eyes penetrating his soul.

Giant tilted his head, stared at Robin for a while and then went back to his work.

Boris rarely had any visitors. First, he was always locked in his room, not being released even for a playtime with other kids, second, everyone, even houseparents were afraid of him, for obvious reasons.

So he knew how it plays out: as soon as human overcomes shock, he'll scream at the top of his lungs and run like hell. Not wanting to be bothered by that, he went back to sculpting.

But when his predictions hadn't checked out, he raised his head again and saw that human was still standing there, fearless.

It was strange. Boris took a sniff and was surprised to find out that man didn't smell like fear nor like disgust. He smelled similar to kids who were giving him small gifts to his cage, back in the times when he was a main attraction of a freakshow.

Giant's surprise grew, when human gave him a sincere smile and having waved his hand, said:

- Hi there! My God, you're so adorable!

Boris became dumbfounded. He heard many comments about his appearance: that he was ugly, monstrous, horrendous and more, but never before had he heard that he's adorable. Giant blushed and hung his head.

- No need to be shy, it's true! - human said and came closer to the giant.

- I'm Robin and it's nice to meet you! - he introduced himself. Boris didn't say a word, he was looking at human awkwardly.

- Did you make all these beautiful pieces of art? - Robin asked, stretching his arms wide. Giant nodded.

- They're wonderful! You're the second Michaelangelo! I feel like I was on a professional exhibition! Well, maybe they're placed a little chaotically... But you get the point, don't you? - human asked. Boris nodded in agreement, though he didn't know what an exhibition is, nor what Michaelangelo means.

- Do you have a favorite sculpture? - Robin was curious. Giant nodded again.

- Can you show me? - human pleaded. Boris frowned - he didn't want to show Robin his favorite piece of art. But on the second thought, Robin was the first grown-up who treated him like a person, so he thought he can make an exception.

He stood up and walked away a little. Robin then noticed a chain cuffed to giant's ankle, the other end was attached to the wall, letting colossus to move around only on small distances.

Man was startled by a sculpture being put down out of sudden. Giant sent an apologetic look.

The sculpture was made out of marble, it was an opened cage, out of which a bird was flying. Robin knew well that symbol, it was a trademark of foundation which helped all freaks - any humanoid, intelligent beings different from normal humans, now called politely Peculiars - to get their rights and be on par with humankind. They freed Peculiars from zoos, freakshows, county fairs, parks of amusement etc. Adults were sent to hostels and kids were sent to orphanages, where they got chance to be adopted.

This sculpture was probably an expression of gratitude towards the people who freed giant from being a plaything. Little did they know that he was being chained in the orphanage, with no chance of getting adopted.

- It's amazing... - Robin said, but didn't sound so happy now - But... Why are you alone here? Shouldn't you be playing with other kids out there? - he asked.

Giant turned his gaze away in response and shed a single tear. It was a meaningful gesture, suggesting: "Why would anybody want to play with me?".

Robin walked up to giant's hand and gave it a tender hug.

- If you want, I can play with you! - he exclaimed and pulled travel checkers out of back pocket.

Kevin got seriously worried when his husband hadn't come after all this time. He excused children, saying he'll be back in a minute and went off to find his lover.

- Robin? Robin where are you? - he asked, while looking into various rooms. He suddenly heard a well-known laughing and encouragement coming from the end of an enormous corridor.

He followed the sound and it led him to gigantic door. Next to it, small door was opened and Robin's voice could be heard. Kevin entered the room without thinking and went to see his husband. But seeing what he was doing, it made his blood boil.

- Yeah! Good job! - Robin praised the giant who had captured another checker of man's. Boris was beaming with joy, he hadn't had so much fun in a long time! It was great that Robin turned out to be different from all humans giant met in his life. He was polite, supportive and genuinely fascinated with Boris.

- What do you think you're doing?!! - another human came out of nowhere and protectively brought Robin close to him. Boris's nose wrinkled, that man had a pungent smell of fear, anger and disgust.

- Kevin! I'm glad you came! This is-!

- A gigantic monster! - man interrupted and hid his husband behind his body. He glared at the giant with fury.

- Leave my husband alone you thing! - he snarled. Boris took few steps back, he hated to be yelled at.

- Kevin, what came over you?! You're scaring him! - Robin scolded his husband.

- And that's good! - he turned his attention back to giant - If I ever see you around my hubby, I'll make sure you'll regret it! - he threatened and dragged his lover by his sleeve.

- What are you doing?! "B" is kind and talented, you're-!

- "B"? - Kevin asked.

- That's what a plate on his room's door says - Robin replied.

- I can bet it stands for "Beast" - man grumbled and left giant's room along with his husband. Boris could hear how they were quarreling, until they were too far.

Embittered giant went back to sculpting and swallowing tears, mumbled:

- "B" stands for "Boris", not "Beast".
