Chapter 1

Author's POV

"I can't do this," You said sternly, as you slammed your fist on the dining table making the cutlery move against the timber.

It made your mom look at you with a troubled expression. She knew this was all you could do against your dad's stubborn decision. Your dad remained calm, didn't even bother to glance over to see your expression.

As if your words did leave your tongue but never made it to their ears.

"You have no other option," your dad said, his voice lacking emotions.

"How can you trade your daughter for money!?" you yelled, losing your temper.

You were The Min Yoona, the only precious girl child of The Mins. You never thought you would be shoved into a stupid arranged marriage. So, money was the only possible reason you could think of.

"I'm not selling you off, Jimin is kind and soft-hearted, he would make a perfect husband," he said in a calm and convincing tone while putting down his fork and wiping his mouth in the usual sophisticated manner. "Think about it well, I left his picture at your desk, check it out," he said and left the table to go sleep.

"Dad, just because he is husband material, I can't marry him!" You wailed as he ignored you and kept on walking towards his room.

"Honey, at least meet him once. If you don't like him, we definitely won't compel you" your mother said.

"Why is Dad so obsessed with this Jimin guy? If he likes that guy so much why doesn't he marry him" you said, throwing a fit like an annoying teenager.

You loved your family, they supported you and your dreams, but this whole sudden arranged marriage was not acceptable. You are the one who has to live with the guy, you should be the one choosing him.

You entered your room and threw yourself on your bed. You looked up to see an envelope resting on your bedside table.

You contemplated if you should open it or not. You were about to pick the envelope when you saw a file, it said,

"future husbandé"

And you just knew it, it would be this Jimin guy's bio prepared by your dad. He and his not-at-all funny dad jokes.

You opened it up to see.

--

You had made up an image of him already, a hot intimidating rich CEO who is always dressed in black for no specific reason. Surrounded by beautiful ladies and alcohol 24/7.

Or one of those already balding CEOs with a beer belly and a weird awkward smile. The ones who get extra possessive with their food.

Or The innocent-looking ones who probably have 3 mistresses.

You flipped the page to see a list of his favourites. From food to movies to birth flowers, it had it all.

Just a glance of the list was enough for you to fling the piece of paper across the room. You glanced once again at the cardboard, the photo of your dad's Mr Perfect, that was still resting inside that pretty envelope.

You contemplated for about a minute or so and then just decided to go to sleep. You pulled the blanket over your head and tried to get some sleep. Your head ached as a dilemma filled you to the brim. So, at most a minute later, your hands picked up the envelope.

You lay on your bed with your abdomen pressed against the mattress, your legs swaying in the air as anticipation fills you up.

You slowly removed the photo from the envelope and flipped it. It revealed a young handsome man who didn't fit into your chiché assumptions.

His eyes brightly lit as he passed a beautiful smile to the lucky cameraman, your lips automatically curve up. There was just something so rejuvenating about the vibe this one photo carried, something so refreshing.

He was handsome and all, but you know this feeling when a random kid in the crowd smiles at you, the happiness surrounding that moment is what you felt when you looked at the picture.

Something so trivial, so unexpected yet such a. serotonin boost.

His pitch-black hair complimented his milky skin, his crooked teeth peeking out from his smile, your smile widened without your permission. The sudden urge to meet him and get to know him...

~The next day~

"Mam, please get up" Butler Kim softly said as she stood there smiling.

"I don't want to..." You said with a lot of frustration in your voice. Burying your head deeper into your pillow.

"I'm so sorry to disturb you ma'am but you will be meeting the Parks in 2 hours and your mother has asked me to doll you up," she said in a calm tone with a smile.

You spring back up, your hair was messed up and was sticking out in all directions. No one told you you were meeting the Parks today. You were eager to meet this guy but not this eager. This simply added up to the anger you felt towards your parents.

First, they sent you to the US without your permission, then commanded you to come back even when you didn't want to, and now this stupid marriage. Saying that you were angry at your parents was an understatement.

~2 hours later~

You sat in your dining hall with your family waiting for the Parks.

After a few minutes, A couple in their mid-50s entered the room. You bowed to them politely and invited them with a smile. Mr Park shook hands with your dad and Mrs Park hugged your mom.

"Where is Jimin?" Mr Park asked Mrs Park and your eyes unknowingly gleam upon hearing that one name.

"On his way, I gues-oh there he is," she said and all the eyes averted to this tall, handsome guy who just entered the room.

Your parents greeted him, he bowed with a smile. The exact same smile from that photo and almost instantly you wanted him to smile at you.

"So, this is my daughter Yoona," your dad said while looking at you. You looked over at your dad then back at this new heavenly stranger.

Your eyes met his and suddenly you couldn't speak or process anything and when you finally opened your mouth nothing came out. The parents made their way to the table, leaving you both alone.

You were just standing there trying to decipher words, trying to pick words, "Should I greet him in English or Korean?" You asked yourself. After a few moments of struggling you mustered up enough courage to greet this young handsome man and said,

"Konnichiwa," and you were suddenly speaking Japanese, you seriously wanted to bury yourself in a huge pit and never come out.

"I mean hi" you added with an awkward smile.

He chuckled a bit and said "I expected you to be nervous, even I was, but not this much" while smiling. You hung your head out of embarrassment

"You're cute" he complimented as he ruffled my hair, making you blush.

"Oh, nice, thank you," you said, getting nervous again just to instantly feel more embarrassed.

Everyone seated themselves. And the families started to talk about your marriage.
You hated it, they decided everything and you felt helpless you can't stop it anymore...You found the guy interesting and nice, but you had dreams, dreams of marrying the love of your life. You didn't believe in love after marriage.

"Why don't you guys take a stroll around the mansion," my dad said with a smile.

"Sure," Jimin said and looked at me.

I stood up and took the lead without saying a thing.

"So, Yoona tell me about yourself in a language that I would understand," he said as he looked at you as if he was your grade school teacher who is expecting to hear a good old 'myself'

"I'm 24, a med school student and I don't want to marry you"

"Why?" He said with an interested tone.

"I don't even know you! Why are you even agreeing?!"

"I don't have a problem with you and I don't think you should have any too because the marriage is happening no matter what, let's not complicate this anymore"

"Maybe we can plan something and get ourselves out of this marriage?" You suggested in an excited tone.

"Ms Yoona we aren't living inside a movie and I know you enough to tell you will never do that"

He was sadly, right.

"You know me enough? We just met." You mocked.

"Let's be friends for now at least it would be easier for us to go through the whole process," he added in a friendly tone.

"Let's do that," You said while extending your hand for a handshake, a friendship with someone you are supposed to marry won't hurt.

You both talked for a bit and you found out you were born in the same town and you both attended the same school. How come you never really saw him before?

He seemed to be a nice guy, he was thoughtful, kind and soo your type. And visually speaking, he was such a dessert to sore eyes.

His black hair fell on his forehead partially covering it. His almond-shaped eyes would disappear when he would smile. Those round cheeks, pink plump lips, and just everything about him was so damn beautiful. Why do men even try when a Park Jimin exists? But despite his 10 on 10 features, the thing that was really making you fall is that dreamy aura that he radiates.

You don't believe in love at first sight but you were attracted to this guy in front of you, you wouldn't mind going out on a date or two with him...that's how normal relationships work...right?

"Yoona are you listening?"He said with his honey-like voice.

The same innocent doe eyes, the usual spacing out, the trademarked awkwardness...there she was, my first love.

Min Yoona.

"Um yeah...Should we just go back?" You said as you tried to dodge his question.

"Sure," He said, confusion inscribed on his face.

You went back to the dining hall and the vibe was already weird, Mrs. Park and your mother looked unusually happy. You freaked out.

"The kids are back!" Mrs Park exclaimed.

"Come sit we have something important to tell you guys" she added. Sounded like a sign, the calm before the storm maybe.

You took your respective seats anyway.

"Your wedding will be held in a month from today, we know you don't know each other well so we decided it would be nice if Yoona moved into Jimin's house so that you adjust to each other's habits," your mom said in a calm tone, as the hurricane flooded the coasts of your sanity.

"Say what mother?"  your mind screamed, caged inside your skull.

You were shocked and were about to yell when you got a kick from under the table, silencing you; it was Jimin.

"We don't have a problem with that...do we Yoona?" Jimin said while smiling.

All eyes averted to you, this sudden attention, every gaze almost forcing you to say no.

"N-no?" you said instantly regretting.

"Then leave right now, the sooner the better right?" Your dad said with a cheeky smile.

Woah Woah Woah too quick people!

"But my things?" You asked to delay the whole moving in thing.

"Butler Kim is taking care of it," your mom said.

"Should we leave?" Jimin asked.

"Yeah sure...why not" you said with an unsure smile.

Jimin's POV

There she was, Min Yoona...right in front of my eyes, again.

You'll be mine Yoona, I'll make you fall for me.

The beauty of love is that you never know when it starts, you can never really remember the moment when the feeling sprouted. Love in its purest form, without any ego or jealousy, is beautiful.

But as said, "you always fall in love, there is no rising in love" the journey of falling in love is not as simple as it sounds, and in this little story of Yoona and Jimin, one of them is already filled with scars of regret and the other isn't even aware of being hurt.
