Chapter 6

NINE MONTHS LATER

Emma

"Auch!!", she screamed. She was laying in a hospital bed. On her right was Killy, holding her hand and looking at her worried. On her left was Regina, also holding her hand. David stood next to Killy, just like Mary Margaret. Emma was in labour. And it hurt. Not only physically, but also mentally, because she knew she wasn't going to raise this child. Regina and Killy were.

In the past nine months she had grown to love this little boy inside her. She had talked a lot to Regina and Killy, and they had decided that she would be a big part of the baby's life, but just as his aunt. They would eventually tell him that Emma was his birthmother, but only if they were sure he was ready for it.

"Okay Emma, one last push", the docter said. Emma pushed once more, squeezing Killy's and Regina's hands. Suddenly they heard the sound of a baby crying. But Emma couldn't hear anything. She didn't want to hear anything. When the doctor wanted to hand her the boy, she shook her head. She wasn't ready for this. How could she? This was her child, and she wasn't even going to raise it. She looked at Regina holding her child. Regina looked so happy. Emma knew she did good. She could hear again. She wanted to hear again.

"So, what are you going to name him?", Emma asked half an hour later, still exhausted from giving birth. "Henry Neal Jones", Regina said, looking at Killian with a smile and then at Emma. Emma smiled back. "Thank you", she whispered. "I think we should be the ones thanking you Emma," Killy said and he kissed her cheek, "Thank you so, so much".

That night Emma was home again. When she lay in bed she started thinking. She had finished high school last year, during the first few weeks of her pregnancy. She had taken a year off in between high school and college. She would turn 18 in about a month, on the 14th of April. After that she would leave to college. But not here in America. No, she needed to be far away from Henry, Regina and Killy. It would hurt to much. She would go overseas, to a university in the Netherlands. She would go and study Economics and Business at the UvA, the University of Amsterdam. She had even found an apartment in Amsterdam, which would cost her less than a hundred bucks per month. Yeah, she had her whole future planned out.

14th OF MAY, EMMA'S DEPARTURE

Regina and Killian

Everybody was at David's and Mary Margaret's house, looking at Emma as she packed her last couple of things. Regina decided to not bring Henry with them, because she knew how much it hurt Emma to see him, especially because Henry looked a lot like Neal. She hugged Emma one last time, since she and Mary Margaret wouldn't go with them to the airport. Emma and Regina had become very close in the last few months, mainly because of the pregnancy, so she was really going to miss her. Regina watched Mary Margaret as she hugged Emma too, making her promise to call as soon as she had landed.

Killian and David drove Emma to the Charlotte Douglas international airport. They both had brought a present for her. First it was David's turn to say goodbye. He hugged her and then gave her a cheque,"to buy alcohol", he said, referring to the fact that you are allowed to buy and drink alcohol from the age of 18 in the Netherlands. Emma laughed and hugged him. After David it was Killian's turn to say goodbye. He hugged her real tight and gave her a T-shirt with a picture of a young Killian, David and Emma on it.

He wanted to give her something special, and then this idea popped into his mind. It clearly was a good idea, because Emma laughed at him and hugged him again. "I'll miss you you little unicorn", Killian finally said with tears in his eyes. He was really going to miss her, even though he hadn't seen her that much over the past few years. "I'll miss you too Killy", Emma said, "and you too David". She pulled the three of them in a grouphug before walking away towards security. Emma turned around once more, waving at them before dissappearing in the crowd.

A/N so apperantely I messed up the American school system. I always thought that highschool was the school you go to from the age of 12 till 16/17, but it turns out that it's something else. I'm really confused right now. Anyways, the highschool in this story is the school you go to at the age of 12 and finish/graduate when you're 16, 17 or 18 and after that you go to college. Just so you know. If anyone wants to explain the American school system to me; feel free to do so!
By the way if anyone wonders, yes the age to legally drink and buy alcohol in the Netherlands is 18. It used to be 16 but a couple of years ago they decided to set it on 18, making a lot of 16 and 17 year-olds pretty angry.
