Something was . .off.

The night sky was covered up in million of stars , the owls hooting in the dead of the night.

He was standing in front of her house.

There was just—this indestructible feeling that. . something was wrong. It was in the air.  He couldn't describe the restlessness inside. The slight agitation that was building up in him.

Maybe it was some  adverse effect of love . .yeah may be.

He didn't stop when she ask him to because he had to catch on his sleep—and now he wished he had stopped. . .

Shaking his head, he moved towards the door and knocked.

Damien was waiting patiently even though he was certainly not a patient man. He could just use his powers and unlock the door but it seemed inappropriate when she was inside and besides he loved it when she opened up the door for him.

Smiling, blushing. .

Yes, he could wait for a century to witness that sight.

Ten minutes since he knocked and nothing happened.

He didn't hear the sound of her soft footsteps approaching. Didn't hear her heart beating wildly like flapping wings. Didn't hear her timid voice. .

He knocked again.

And waited again.

His dark brows knitted together, he couldn't seem to shake off the dread that was making its home in him.

But God forbid,  if something had happened, he would have felt a spark of something. Anything. Not just . ...silence.

Chaotic silence from her.

As if someone had cut the wire between them which was ridiculous to even think about—

This time he didn't wait.

Calling on his powers, he whispered to them , assigning them what he wanted. Quick as his breath, they moved stealthy under the door. .the black smoke disappearing inside . . slithering upwards on the door like a snake. .they unlatched the door once again . .

The door creaked in the night.

Opening up.

Damien didn't waste any time and hastily stepped in—he was greeted by complete darkness.

The feeling in his heart intensified.

Now his heart thudded wildly in his chest as if sensing something ominous that he couldn't see. .

Usually Sarah would sit on the couch or she would be in the kitchen. Bedroom was her last resort.

Her house was always lit whether she was awake or asleep. .

And now. . .

He moved in. . flipping the lights on.

Damien's eyes flickered over everything. Everything was on it's place and yet. . it felt like nothing was.

On it's place.

He tried to reach in her room, wanting to hear her heart but. . .his powers confirmed there so no one in the house.

No living person.

Like a crazed lion, he blurred in her bedroom. .the door slamming violently against the wall. .his eyes searching the neatly made bed desperately. .

Not here.

She was not here.

Nowhere!

He blinked and his eyes bleed to blood red. Indicating he was over the edge. Just a slight push and he would drown.

Himself.

Everyone.

"Sarah Sarah. .where are you damnit!"

Shutting his eyes close, he tried to reach her heart tried his best to reach her.  .but he couldn't feel a thing. As if—as if she never existed.

His mind exploded with every possible scenario but nothing made sense. Why—why would she leave? Without any trace? Without telling him anything?

Did he do something wrong?

Did he not love her enough?

Did he—

Damien touched his throbbing temples, pressing his fingers on his temples. . trying to stay calm. The animal in him was clawing at his insides — demanding her— wanting her— it bared it's canines at him — it paced in him — ripping at him.

He had never felt such an overwhelming feeling . Such a tornado of everything mixed in. The creature in him was howling! The torment too much!

His legs couldn't hold him much. .the fear the dread the darkness in him forced him on his knees. .he was standing on his knees on the wooden floor.

Clutching at his head. His hands shaking. Tremors moving in his body. Eyes bloodshot with desperation. Agony trickling in every artery every vein of his body.

All he could say was. . .

"Sarah Sarah Sarah. .  .  "

"You shouldn't have done that."

Darsana pursed her pretty lips in a tight line.

"Why? Why shouldn't I have done that Elliot? Give me one good reason." She said while taking a look at the documents on her table.

Elliot kept looking at the woman he loved more than his life . And it wasn't the first time he felt that he was slowly . . .losing her. She wasn't the same woman he fell for.

The carefree Darsana transformed into a calculating woman .

Calculating every relationship in her life.

Even now as he faced her , a huge mahogany table between them—he felt like her employee more than her fiance.

"Well?" She glanced at him.

Elliot shifted in his chair.

"It's obvious isn't it? He loves her. Your brother loves that human—"

"You're forgetting, my love .My brother loves anyone with legs. " She said with a slight chuckle.

Moving the papers in front of her.

Elliot leaned forward.

"This is different, Darsana. You should see Damien . See how he isn't the same." Elliot watched her signing a paper.

"He will always be the same , Elliot and for debate's sake , even if I let him take a human bride.  What then? He won't be in the line to the throne. And as far as I know my brother, he would give up  thousand humans for the sake of the golden chair."

"Did you ask him? Ask his choice?" Elliot asked slowly.

Darsana shook her head.

"What's there to ask? This idiotic and rational less relationship had to end Elliot. There was just not other way—"

"Did you explore any other way?"

Darsana gave him a disbelieving look.

"Are you listening to yourself? Advocating for a human? Listen. .my brother will mellow for a few days and then he'll be back to another bimbo."

Elliot sighed.

"She wasn't a bimbo as far as I know. "

"Granted she wasn't. But you have to accept I did that girl a favor. She had to know sooner or later that she didn't belong with Damien. She is not fit to be a royalty. Not fit to be his bride. She cannot bear him children. Damien will be fine. It's a matter of few days."
