~19~ Hopelessly devoted

The next morning you woke up feeling like you don't really want to do anything anyway. You didn't open your eyes. Just took a deep breath, stretched your arms and laid there. Then you reached to your side to see if Loki was there. You smiled when you felt his skin on you.

"Good morning Darling." he whispered. You turned to your side and snuggled up next to him.

"Does it have to be morning?" you asked languidly.

"It can be whatever you want, but to be honest, today is a big day. Or so your phone says." he said. You looked up at his face, and he waved your phone in front of you.

"Why? What does it say?" you asked curiously.

"Natasha sent you a message. She seems like she really cares about you. She warned you they go back today."

"So even they don't know what to expect..."

Heavy silence weighed down the room as you watched his chest rise and fall slowly. You felt his heartbeat, and closed down your eyes so the only thing you feel was him breathing.

"Sorry." he said after a while. You looked cak at him.

"For what?"you asked.

"That I checked your phone. I know it's not something that I should have done, but the message arrived, I read the first few words and then I was curious about the rest." he started, but stopped as he saw your soft look.

"You don't have to say sorry. I wasn't angry. Though I definetely prefer to check my own messages." you said, and gave a little peck on his cheeks. You felt his morning beard brushing against your lips, but it only filled you with more and more love towards this man.

"And what should we do now?" you asked.

"Well, I have a couple ideas, but first, we should definetly get out from the bed. Maybe get breakfast.

"I wasn't talking about that. What should we do now, that they went back. Soon, everyone will either lose or win. Our reality might change." you said.

He only shook his head.

"Nothing will change. Not between us. Not now, not every. You don't have to worry. But I do hope that they will succeed. That might mean that the whole snap thing didn't happen. And that might mean that you get everything back." he sad, genty rubbing your back.

You sat up in the bes, and jumped out of it. You fixed a bit your oversized T-shirt, which acted as your pajama for the night, then walked out from the room.

You heard that Loki was following you, and that made you smile.

"We should dress up..." you started talking as you walked towrds a pile of suitcases in the middle of his- no... In the midde of your apartment.

"Yes..." he said, but somehow in a questioning voice, that indicated that he wanted you to continue.

"Then we should get breakfast, and then..." you continued as you searched through your big suitcase for something comfy. You decided by a black skinny jean, and a black satin blouse. You fished out some back underwear to mach them, and a pair of black socks.

"Whatever you wand darling." Loki smiled, and seemed to be more and more impatient about what will happen at the end of your sentence.

"And then we should go to the Avengers base to see if they need any help from us." you finished your sentence.

"I'm not sure if they want to see me there. I mean not without chains.

"I assure you, that they won't have a bad word against you once they listened you out. I will be there, and your brother. We will make sure, that all of them will listen to you." You said, as you held all of the chosen chlothes against your stomach.

"Then I shall also get dressed." he said, and turned around, and walked away from you slowly.

You smiled and walked into the bathroom. You put everything you had in your hands to somewhere dry, and then washed your face a bit. It freshened you up, but you realised that you had nausea only after looking into the bis mirror, and saw your own worried eyes. You didn't know if bringing everyone back was even a good thing. And you felt awful for even questioning it.

You splashed some more water in your face, then you made the back of your neck also wet. The cool feeling that ran down your spine was awfully good feeling. You dressed up, and brushed out your hair a bit. You decided againt tieing it together, and just let it fall down to your shoulders. Also, you decided against putting up any mascara. It would help you look more confident, but what was the point in looking more confident than you actually were.

You walked out from the bathroom, and saw that Loki was waiting for you in the living room. He was sitting on the couch, with his back facing you, and resting his head inhis hands that were relying on his knees by his elbows.

"Are you worried?" you asked, but as soon as you started to speak, he jumped a bit so you knew the answer.

"No. Not at all. I was just... Just deep in thought." he lied. Of course he did. He was the god of lies.

"What were you thinking about?" you asked.

"Ohh~ Nothing important. Are you ready?" he tried to change the subject. You decided that you just let him do that. He will tell you if he wants to. It's like with cats. If you triy to pick them up, and sit them down to your lap, the will fights against you. But if you sit down, and wait, they will surely come and snuggle up next to you, or even lay on your lap.

"Yeah. Let's go there." you said, and

"Can we walk there? It's really not that far away if you know the way. And I know it." he asked as he let you grab your arm, and stand next to him.

"Sure."

As the two of you walked out from the flat, you started talking, so he might feel a bit better. You talked about everything. Disney, songs you love to listen to, the new and the first broadway musical since the snap... It took time for people to want to sing again, but everything healed. Now, the songs can be heard again. You especially were curious about how Lin will reappear on the stage. Lin Manuel Miranda. One of the biggest talents that the world held on it's back. Musician, composer, singer, and the genius behind Hamilton the musical. Favourite of many.

You just chatted about everything, how soon, the fashion starts to be important again, and how it all becomes better and better. It all will be normal again. Just like after the world wars. It took time, but everything is in motion, and it takes more than killing half of all living things, to bring the human race down.

As the two of you walked across a field, with a tiny path, towards the back entrance of the facility, you could feel eyes watching the two of you. You looked at the building, ans as you quinted you could see the siluette of a familiar man standing in one of the windows. The man stood there with his hands in his pokets, and watched you walk closer motionless.

But soon you arrived to the entrance of the builindg and you liberated yourself to walk in without knocking.

"Hello?" you said, but you felt like you wasn't loud enough and your shout needed more cocoa. "HELOOO!" you shouted, and by that you knew that someone must have heard you enter.

Soon you saw the messy brown hair, of someone you didn't know, and the messy blonde hair of someone you did know. Clint and a stranger walked towards you.

"Hi, (Y/N)." Clint said.

"Hello. We came here to help, if you need any. Nat sent me a message, and I just thought, we could help out with something."

Clint's eyes started to get wet, and clenched his fists. He turned his backn you without a word and walked away.

For a few moments the three of you stood there in silence.

"Hi. I'm Paul Rudd. Ant-man if it says anything to you. He's... He is having a really rough day." he said. you smiled at him, not knowing what he was talking about. As far as you knew Clint he was always having a bad day.

"My name is (Y/N) (Y/FN). And he is..."

"He doesn't need an introduction." Paul interrupted you.

"Alright then. I came here, because Nat told me, that this will be the day, when the three of you go back, and... Well, I was kinda hoping that we could help you somehow." you smiled, and grabbed Loki's hand, that was next to yours. You felt him tighten his grasps around your hand, and your smile grew wider.

"We... We already went back." Paul said.

"Really? And where are the others? Did you guys make it?" you asked.

"Most of us did." someone answered from behind Paul. It was Steve. He stood on the stairs and looked incredibly worn out. His eyes were red and puffy, and under them were dark circled. His nose was red, and somehow pain radiated from his face.

"What do you mean most of you?" Loki asked, as he stepped in front of you.

"What do you care? If I tell you, are you just gonna cast some illusion on us, and use it against us? Or try to 'help' and make us forget?" Steve laughed at his own sour cynicism.

"I wouldn't do anything that would hurt (Y/N)'s feelings." he answered like he didn't realise the mean tone in Steve's voice.

"Who is it?" you asked paralysed. Someone didn't make it. You made these new friends, in this new world, and somehow, you were to lose one again.

"Natasha."

Her name just cut trough the silence in the air. You feli like you heard wrong, and as if nobody said anything, but you looked once more at Steve and it all became real again.

It was the day, when heaven took the soul of someone, who was important, not just for one person. It was the day, when heaven took, the heart of the avengers, the nominated sister of Steve, the only thing the Hulk could ever love, Clint's last string of hope, and the only person here at the aveners, who actually wanted to get to know you before having an opinion - good or bad - on you. She was the only one, who could make peace amongst these heroes. She was the only one, you called a friend, since Peter disappeared.

You felt tears gather in your eyes, and started to feel like the world was spinning with you. You felt crushed. You would have fallen to the floor as you started crying, if Loki didn't catch you.

You have lost someone yet again, even though, you decided, you wouldn't let yourself get hurt like this once again. You forgot the promise you made for yourself on that day. That you will never let anyone close to you ever again, because if you would, you weren't sure that wou would survive that. Well, here's your answer. And the worst part is that you survived, but she didn't.

"(Y/N), are you alright?" you heard Loki whisper into your ears, as he held you in his arms, so you wouldn't fall to the floor. Just like earlier in the morning. When you still didn't know what would happen that day.

"No."

*Author's note*

Hi! I don't have any excuse on why I didn't updated, exept that I had some thing in my life. Mostly good, so I won't start to cry about anything today. This was a hard chapter to write, since I knew how it would end, and I really didn't want to write it.
Anyways, some update on my life, that I'm yet to share, and maybe I'll get a pass ffor my late update.
1) My crush is now my boyfriend, though I prefer to call him my partner. I love him so much.
2) My first smester in the Uni is almost over, and I did not do well, but I did not do awful either so that's a plus.
3) Soon it's Christmas, and my soul just glows in happy red and green lights. One of  my favourite times in the year.
So all of that happened. I know this chaper ended sadly, and I won't ask to comment if you liked it. I'm just sad about it now, so I'll go and mourn in one corner of my room. I also have feelings, even though...

I... am... the writer. *Snaps fingers*
