Personality: Mathias is honest. He's straightforward and blunt and holds nothing back. He will tell you how it is and there's nothing else to it. He's a trustworthy and responsible person too. However, he does know when enough is enough. Sometimes, despite his urge for honesty, he will refrain from speaking. However, he's incredibly brave and bold too, a remanent of his divergence and his birth faction. He's clever and witty and can be a pretty comical person when he wants. He's subtly charming and always tries to get a smile out of someone. Despite his bluntness, he's not heartless. He cares a lot and this shows in the way he treats people with respect and kindness. He's not one to like violence but he will start a fight if he believes his opinion or his side is right. He's a defender of justice and usually a fair person. He does have a bit of a temper though so I wouldn't push it.

Backstory: Mathias grew up in Dauntless, the home of the brave. As far as he knew, his father was anyone he could imagine that was old enough to have knocked up his mother. His mother, Elaine, kept everything hush and told him nothing. It was always just him and her and Mias held his own amongst his peers. He just always felt like something was missing. His natural thirst for the truth and his general bluntness rubbed people the wrong way and he was teased for being so forthright and honest all the time. After all, he was supposed to be brave and fearless. He was supposed to be Dauntless. Eventually, as he got older, he wanted the truth about his father. So, he confronted his mother about it, only to find out that his father wasn't a member of Dauntless. His father was a member of Candor, and hence why his mother never spoke of him. His name is Peter, and Mias was determined to find him one day. Several years later, the aptitude test came along and his results were 'inconclusive'. Despite his tendency to tell the truth, this was a secret he had to keep. He tested for Candor, Dauntless, and Amity. When it came time to choose, he left Dauntless ad went to Candor because he felt he would fit in better. Besides, maybe he could find the Peter his mother had fallen in love with. Mias did find Peter, but he didn't mention anything. Never tried to press it. He kept that secret too. Still, life at Candor has been great for him, and he doesn't regret a thing, though he does sometimes wonder how his mother is doing.
