Her Boys

"What are your likes and dislikes?" Suna asked her youngest. Papyrus laughed with a cheerful 'Nyeh heh heh!' "I LIKE PUZZLES AND MAKING FRIENDS AND COOKING WITH UNDYNE!"
"I HATE SANS' AWEFUL PUNS!" She snickered. "Puns?"
"YES. THEY ARE TERRIBLE, YET.. he hasn't made one since you got back. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.."
"A good thing I'd hope, but I'll ask if you'd like?" She offered. "OH WOULD YOU?"
"Of course, Papyrus. What do you like to do on your spare time?"
"TRAIN AND COOK!!" She laughed. "Your very enthusiastic. That's very good to know." He beamed. "I TRY! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ME AND SANS AND.. Well.. life wasn't easy for him. I know he's hiding things from me and I just want to help."
"What kinds of things?" She asked, worried. "I.. don't know. He won't tell me."
"Perhaps he'll tell me. How old are you now, Papyrus?"
"28, almost 29." She nodded. "My boys are so grown up.." She murmured. "MOTHER.. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE AS A SKELETON?" Hm. She might as well try. "One moment please." She focused her magic on changing into her skeleton. "W-WOWIE! IS THAT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO CHANGE FORM?" Papyrus went to his skeleton form as well. "Apparently."

The spaghetti was good. Papyrus was a good cook. Sans had come in only to do a double take and walk out. "Comic? Comic what's wrong?" She went after the eldest. He was on the couch, face buried in his hands. "Comic? Did I do something wrong?" He shook his head, grinning wider then she'd ever seen in a long time. "i'm just.. really happy. i'm happy to have ya back. i missed the hell out of you. seeing you in your original form, cracks or no, brought back an unbelievable amount nostalgia." Papyrus had come in, wanting to help. "Nostalgia huh? Yeah.. I missed you too, Comic. I'm trying to make up for lost time." She gestured for Papyrus to come over. He did, sitting beside his mother and brother. "Tell me about your lives here?" Sans and Papyrus looked at one another. "well.. it was a hard transition for me. the undergound doesn't have all the things the surface had. no sun, no stars, no rain, no food.. dad changed that though, when he built the c.o.r.e. apparatus. it's a machine in the center of hotland that magically powers the undergound. with the c.o.r.e. we could make food, plants, snow.. but because he was so busy.. he really wasn't raising me anymore. grillby was. and when papyrus came.. it's like dad forgot all about you. we couldn't visit you anymore. then dad had an accident, and i took over raising papyrus."
"SANS ALWAYS MADE SURE I HAD AN EDUCATION AND FOOD AND A ROOF UNDER MY HEAD. WHEN I MET UNDYNE, HE EVEN HELPED MY TO BECOME PART OF THE ROYAL GUARD AS A SENTRY! HE'S ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME! I WISH HE'D LET ME DO THE SAME.."
"ya do more for me than you realize, bro."
"STILL, IF YOU'D TELL ME WHAT THE NIGHTMARES ARE ABOUT.."
"it's stupid, really. just war stuff." Suna could understand that. Since she woke up, she'd been having nightmares about the war. "I wouldn't be surprised if you had PTSD from the war."
"can we drop the subject? please?" There was a knock on the door. "I'LL GET IT!"

The door opened and a human stepped inside. "GREETINGS HUMAN FRISK, READY FOR OUR DATE-"
"wait mom-" The human slammed into the wall as Suna pinned them there with blue soul magic. It was an instinct now, to protect her boys from this possible threat. They looked utterly bewildered. "State your business here, human." She warned lowly, summoning a bone. She surged forward, only to be held back. She glowered. "What is the meaning of this."
"frisk isn't a threat right now, trust me." Sans eased. "you're not in the war anymore mom, you can let them go."
"FRISK AND I WERE GOING TO GO ON A DATE!"
"A date?" That in itself was a threat. "it's harmless. nothing ever happens I swear." Sans promised. That was.. a strange sentence. "I'll.. take your word." She hesitantly lowered the human to the ground and released her magic. "Apologies human, you can take a monster from the war, but you can't take the war from the monster."
"this is suna, our mother."
"SHE WAS HURT IN THE WAR AND JUST WOKE UP!"
"mom, this is frisk, who.. i'll tell you about later." Frisk looked utterly shocked. "You have a mother?!"
"I KNOW RIGHT! AMAZING!" Papyrus went to lead the human around. "What did that mean.. 'nothing ever happens.'?"
"it's.. a bit of a story. sit down and i'll tell you." Sans was completely honest with her about the resets and the things that had happened. He told her about the thing that takes over Frisk and about how Toriel had a child who died, only to be reborn as a flower. He told her about Chara, and how they've been to the surface dozens of times, but only he remembered. She listened to it all. She listened.. and she believed. Sans had a logical mind. He was never one to make up stories. "And.. this is what you've been hiding from your brother?" He nodded. "yeah.. do you believe me?"
"I do. You've never lied to me before and you've never been one to make something like this up." He sighed with relief. "i don't think grillby believes me, but he listens."
"You told Grillby?"
"when i was drunk, yes. i never intended to tell anyone, especially not pap. i couldn't do that to him. the kid is one of his closest friends."
"He wants to help, Comic. He should know." He sighed. "i'll.. think about it. what about you? do you remember dad?" No.. "No I don't."
