Chapter 28: Relationship Goals

Levi's POV

I dropped Hanji at her house before returning to the apartment, still finding Erwin there. Carefully, I put my car keys back on their hook before hanging my coat on a hanger. "What are you still doing here? Aren't you going to your friend's?"

"I thought you were staying with Hanji for the rest of the day. I guess our thoughts aren't what we wanted, Levi," Erwin smirks as he turns off the TV. "I'm about to leave. How was it? Considering she stayed over in your room, and I assume your bed-."

"Nothing happened. Just... cuddled."

"I doubt it."

"I'm not stupid to do anything like that. Get your damn head out of the gutter. Relationships are more than that, Erwin. I guess that explains why you don't have girlfriends right now and pushing your ideas on me. Go get your own."

Erwin smirked with that glint in his eyes. "Who says I don't have one? I'm just as good at hiding my relationship as you. Keep it up and you'll be as good as me."

"Who are you dating?"

"Abigail."

"Abi- the counselor? You've been dating her? How long?"

"Couple of years. Fell in love with her when I was attending camp." He winks at me with that twinkle in his eyes. "You see, we're not that different, Levi. Although, I am good at keeping it private. Compared to you, you're a bit loud."

I want to kill him.

Erwin clears his throat, "But anyways, I'll see you later." He was leaving the apartment before he turned back. "Levi, just as a piece of free advice, you guys should do something more-."

"The hell do you mean by that?"

"Take her out on more dates or something. Whenever I'm near you guys, all I overhear is that you guys talk about college or books like nerds. I get Hanji fits the range of being a nerd, a cute one, but not you. You don't look like the type to read books."

"Looks don't mean anything."

Erwin sighs, shaking his head. "Maybe take her out on a date that's not a library or university campus. Take her to the amusement park or a nice restaurant. I don't know. Not out in the forests- I'm still looking forward to you being a counselor at camp."

You want me to go back to camp?

Words of hatred flowed into my head and urged me to say them out loud. On the other hand, if Hanji signs up to be a counselor since she's eligible, we can spend our summer together. Sure, I need to supervise kids from time to time, but I'll always be with her. Then again, I have this idiot and the other counselors to deal with that will always dig their claws into our relationship.

A summer filled with being next to Hanji and dealing with people almost daily? Is it worth it? It is...

"I can't do anything too much because she's still in high school and she doesn't want her parents to find out about me until after she goes to college. That limits my options, Erwin. The only time I do have with her is when she's on break and when she can go to the mall to where I work or something."

"Take her to a park on the weekend or something. Do something fun with her that will make her day. You don't need to focus on her future. Think of something fun. I know you're not the type of guy to go to an amusement park. Hell, I don't think you'll ride a Ferris Wheel for the fun of it. But do it for her. Have her smile. If you like hearing her laugh, take her to a fun place. Then take her out to a nice restaurant afterward or some other day. It works."

"You're telling me I should empty my bank account for this?"

"I rather you keep this relationship than you be rich. Which is it? Hanji or your bank account? The way I like to think about it is this way: if Hanji leaves, can you get her back? If you don't have money, can you work for more? Think about it, Levi. Do it for Hanji."

Erwin leaves without another word, leaving me alone in this empty apartment. I do want to spend more time with her... but an amusement park? I guess I'll spoil her...
