Chapter 21: Lunch Break

Hanji's POV

We were allowed to go off on our own as long as I stayed with Levi. I wouldn't think of wandering away from him because the woods is a dangerous place. As we were departing from the group, I couldn't help but feel the blonde guy staring at us. I asked Levi what was up with him, and all he said was that he was jealous and a bastard. For some reason, I feel like they have a relationship that he's hiding from me.

Levi took me up on a beaten path, smiling softly as he took me deeper into the forest. It took a few minutes, but eventually, we entered a small clearing with posts for the horses.

"We're here," Levi says, getting off the horse and leading it to one of the wooden posts. "We can have lunch here. How do you feel about egg sandwiches and some ice cream sandwiches after?"

"You have ice cream sandwiches?" I chuckle, getting off my horse and following Levi's lead. "I'm impressed. How many did you get?"

"Just two. There's no need to grab more than necessary, Hanji."

"What if I wanted more than one?" I pout softly. I didn't mean those words that I was saying. I wanted to tease him, nothing more than that. But sometimes, I don't know if Levi knows when I'm joking and when I'm serious. Since he's my boyfriend, I have to educate him on that. That... that I don't mind. "I like my sweets."

"Then you can have mine. I don't mind having no ice cream sandwiches."

I sigh, shaking my head. "Come on, Levi... have a bit of humor. Fight back. Not physically. Mind games. Make me quiver in my boots. I like to get my brain juice pumping."

"Is that a requirement?"

"No, but it helps keep me entertained." I don't want to lose you, Levi... I've been waiting for so long to be with you... I don't want this summer to be the last time I am with you. "Keep me entertained. It doesn't have to be every hour. Just once in a while, do something that'll keep me entertained. Do that for me, and I'll do anything for you. A compromise."

Levi nods his head, setting up a blanket for us to sit on. "Okay. I don't know how things work in a relationship... so you might need to teach me."

"Levi, instead of spending time here with each other, I'm going to teach you how to be in a relationship. You, my guy, need some help. You need help on that side of the world. And don't worry, I'm a good teacher."

"How many relationships have you been in, Hanji?"

"Just this one..."

"What makes you an expert in this subject?"

Ugh... this man... how can I save this man from tragedy?
