03. You Decided I Was Worth Saving

Aria was in the back of the Gilbert's car, she coughed and slowly opened her eyes, looking to her side she saw an unconscious Elena, and at the front Miranda was also unconscious but Grayson was awake and was trying to get the car to open.

"Dad?" a scared Aria called out, as water filled the car.

"We're gonna be okay, I promise" Grayson told Aria.

"Dad!" Aria yelled, suddenly gasping for her as water filled their whole car.

Grayson grabbed Aria's hand trying to assure her that they were going to be fine, but Aria's hand slipped from his hold as she fell unconscious and this time no Damon came to save her.

On top of Wickery Bridge, Damon stood to the side with Sybil watching the scene infront of him unfold.

"The car went off the bridge" an officer said into his radio.

"Sheriff, we found the fourth victim".

"Was it an accident?".

"That doesn't look good" Damon commented, for some reason feeling extremely horrible seeing the scene infront of him.

"We're going to need to drag the river".

"Four bodies recovered".

Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes spoke into her radio, "Confirm four fatalities, Grayson, Miranda, Elena and--", the next name was hard for Liz to say, because the next name was of the girl who she raised as her own, who was the last reminder of her best friend, "And Aria Connor" she cried, with tears slipping down her face.

"Yeah, it's the Gilberts and Aria Connor".

"That's so sad" Sybil said, "Did you know Aria?".

"No, I never met her" Damon stated.

Sybil smirked, "Guess now you never will".

Sybil tried entering Enzo's head but failed miserably.

"Just turn it off" Sybil snapped, getting extremely angry at Enzo, "It's a little bitty humanity switch right at the back of your noggin, I've got big plans for you and it'll streamline the whole process if your emotions aren't riding shotgun, come on Enzo, room service is getting cold".

"Well, if you're feeling peckish, don't let me stop you" Enzo said.

Sybil once again tried to get Enzo to turn his humanity off but once again she failed.

"Look at Damon over there, he's got the right idea, he's happy" Sybil said, pointing to Damon who was busy reading Fifty Shades of Grey.

"Bored, actually" Damon corrected, "Just kill him".

"In three millennia, I have a pretty unblemished record when it comes to controlling men" Sybil informed, "50,000 to zero--give or take a few Peloponnesians--and I'm not about to add one to the loss column just because he doesn't feel like submitting".

"Well, he's a tough nut to crack" Damon informed, "Seventy years in a cage will do that to you and you're just building up his tolerance for torture".

Sybil let out a frustrated sigh, "Well I've got a pretty full itinerary, so I guess we're just gonna have to move on to plan B, as in Aria Connor".

Enzo looked at Sybil in confusion, "Aria Connor isn't my humanity".

"Oh I know" Sybil said, "But she is someone else's and last time we met I saw a determination in her eyes that I didn't like, if I can't get you to shut your humanity then I have to make sure Damon never turns his on, and how ironic would it be that guy who Aria would die for kills him herself, huh?", Sybil turned to Damon who wasn't listening to a word that came out of her mouth, "Damon, would you do me a favor and kill Aria Connor?".

"Sure" Damon simply said, making Enzo extremely worried, not knowing how to warn Aria of this upcoming danger on her.

Aria had decided to take the triplets out shopping, they were missing Damon too much and Kol suggested to take their mind off of him and take them shopping while Kol talked to Alaric about a possible weapon he found related to the sirens.

"Mom, stop" Alec complained.

"Would you stand still" Aria said, putting a shirt infront of Alec, "No too emo".

"But I like it, I want the black shirt" Alec stated.

"You wear black, Asher wears black, Damon wears black, what is it with you boys and black?" Aria asked.

"Dad once told us that black makes us Salvatore boys look very handsome" Asher remembered, picking out all the black shirts from the rack.

Aria face palmed, "You three were supposed to go after me, not be a mixture of him and Kol" she complained.

"Well, Mia is after you" Alec reminded.

"Speaking of Mia, where is she?" Aria wondered, looking around and trying to find her daughter.

"Mom!" Mia yelled, running over to her mom and hugging her legs, a huge smile on her face, "He's here mom, he's finally here".

"Who's here bunny?" a confused Aria asked.

"Dad" Mia informed, "Dad is here!".

"Why the hell is that calling me dad?".

A shocked Aria looked infront of her, only to see Damon standing infront of her, looking at his family as if they were complete strangers.

"Okay guys, remember that game we were playing with Seline, the one in which you three hide and don't come out till mommy comes and gets you?" Aria asked, quickly standing infront of her kids, who nodded their head, "Well, we're going to play that game now, hold each other's hands and no matter what don't let go, now run and hide somewhere far away, mommy will come find you".

"But I want to spend some time with dad" Mia complained.

"And you will" Aria promised, "But right now your father is sick, I'm going to get his head straight and then you can spend all the time in this world with him, but right now you guys need to go".

"Come on Mia" Alec said, grabbing one of Mia's hand while Asher grabbed the other and the triplets ran to hide.

After the triplets were gone, Aria turned to Damon, "I don't suppose you're here to reconcile are you?".

"Why will I reconcile with you?" a confused Damon asked, "I don't even know you".

"Okay, now we both know that's a lie" Aria said, "But anyways, if you're not here to reconcile, why are you here?".

Damon smirked, "To kill you?" he replied, ripping a piece of wood from one of the racks and charging towards Aria who put her hands infront of her and let out a loud banshee scream, causing Damon to fall to the ground in pain.

"So turns out, after I stopped being a huntress, my banshee side came back" Aria informed, grabbing the wooden plank Damon dropped, "Now I'm just waiting for my magic", Aria looked at Damon who had now stood up, "I'm sorry Damon, I would love to stay and chat but right now our kids are here and I can't risk their lives".

Before Damon could stop her Aria had shoved the wooden plank into his stomach and stuck him to a wall.

"I know if you had your memories this is what you would have wanted as well" Aria whispered, giving Damon one last smile before rushing to find her kids and to get them the hell out of this place.

After dropping the triplets off at the Mikaelson's, Aria entered the boarding house while on the phone with Kol.

"Kol, if Damon is mind controlled to kill me, then we both know he's not going to stop until I'm dead" Aria reminded.

"But why the hell is coming after you?" a confused Kol asked.

"Maybe because I challenged that siren that I will defeat her" a sheepish Aria replied.

"Ri" Kol said.

"Don't give me the disappointed dad tone, I already have a dad who gives me that tone every single time I mess up" Aria snapped.

"That's true" Aria heard Ric say.

"Okay, I'm going to track Damon, and hope that he leads me to his queen" Kol said.

"What the hell are you going to do when you find her?" a confused Aria asked.

"Don't know yet, Ric is till working on that part" Kol said, "Hey Ric, your deadline came earlier then anticipated, now you don't have days but have hours to figure out how to kill a siren".

"Got everything?" Caroline asked, as her, Aria and Rebekah walked down the stairs.

After finding out that Damon had attacked Aria, both Caroline and Rebekah rushed to their best friend and both of them decided it was in Aria and the triplets best interest to live in the Mikaelson's mansion with them and the other originals, who will die themselves before letting anything happen to Aria.

"I still don't think this is necessary" Aria said, grabbing her duffel bag.

"Well luckily no one asked you" Caroline said, as the three best friends walked down the remaining stairs.

"Rude" Aria commented, suddenly stopping in her step when she saw Sybil sitting in the living room.

"Hi Aria, remember me?" Sybil asked, "I'm Sybil, so glad to meet you again".

"What the hell do you want?" Aria asked.

"Simple" Sybil replied, "I want to know what makes you so special, what is it about you that despite having no memories of you, Damon can't get himself to kill you, how do you inspire so much devotion in a man that is supposed to be completely devoted to me, so why don't you sit down and we'll have a little heart-to-heart? I can make you, but it's excruciatingly painful".

Aria stepped infront of her sister and friend, and glared at Sybil, "You think I'm scared of you?" she asked, "I'm the most powerful being Sybil, you should be scared of me, so start talking about whatever it is you want to talk about or get the hell out of my house!".

"So Aria, what's your secret?" Sybil finally asked, when she realised Aria wasn't going to sit down, "What did Damon see in you?" she asked, but Aria stayed quiet.

"You know, whatever you're trying to do here, it's not going to work" Caroline said, "You're not going to get what you want, something you should know about Aria is that she is fiercely loyal and she would do anything for the people she loves".

Sybil looked at Aria, "Really?" she asked, "Now that is something we can work with, so you would do anything for Damon? Like anything, anything? I mean, how far would you really go? How about Enzo, the father of your best friend's child? What if you had to choose between them?" Sybil chuckled while Aria and Rebekah exchanged a worried look between them, "Here's the thing ladies, I need two loyal soldiers and these two can't seem to cut loose from their ties to the past, it's working my last nerve, so I realised, I really only need one of them, the other will die and live an eternity of darkness and pain, so Rebekah and Aria you two get to choose".

"You're crazy" Caroline snapped.

"No, I'm just very old" Sybil retorted, "Very set in my ways and very annoyed, choose".

"Ah, I see what's happening here, you're jealous" Aria taunted, "When people love you, it's because you have forced them but when Enzo and Damon fell in love with Rebekah and me, it was their own choice, you couldn't tolerate that, because it made you realise because of your ugly personality no one will ever love you the way we are loved, which is why you are a jealous old hag, playing a sadistic game with us".

"You can forget it" Rebekah snapped, glaring at Sybil, "We're not playing".

"You're not fun" Sybil said, Aria's words actually have gotten to her causing her immense anger, "You know what was fun? Ancient Rome, the colosseum, gladiators, sweaty, oiled-up man hurling themselves at each other, so hot, you'll know what I mean soon enough, in exactly twelve minutes, Damon and Enzo will fight to the death, they don't have a choice, I've willed it so, one of them will lose, so if neither one of you is going to choose, then I guess we'll just let the boys settle it amongst themselves".

Aria, Rebekah, Caroline and Sybil sat in Rebekah's car, with Rebekah driving, Aria in the passenger seat and Caroline in the back with Sybil, which happened after a thumb war between Aria and Caroline that Caroline lost.

"Why does the car keep making that infernal noise?" Sybil complained.

"It's telling you to put your seatbelt on idiot" Aria snapped, really having enough of Sybil.

"Well, you can tell it that I'm immortal" Sybil snapped back.

"And this is how you choose to spend that gift" Caroline said, "You just escaped over two hundred years of captivity, why aren't you on a beach in Saint-Tropez? Sirenining Channing Tatum to give you foot massages?".

Rebekah looked at Aria only to see her stealthily texting Kol.

"Distract her" Aria mouthed to Rebekah, who nodded her head.

"Take full offense to this, whatever you're doing right now, it's seems a little small for the mythological creature you are supposed to be" Rebekah said.

"That's only cause you don't know what awesomeness awaits you" Sybil said, "Now step on it, we don't want to miss round one".

"Five minutes" an excited Sybil informed, the girls still stuck in the car with her, "This is so exciting", none of the girls said anything, they were too worried for Damon and Enzo, "Oh, come on, what happened to all that sassy backtalk?", Sybil looked at Aria, "Oh right, it's probably easier to talk tough when you had your magic to back it up", Aria rolled her eyes in return, "What's wrong? Is somebody feeling powerless right now? But here's the ray of sunshine, you actually have all the power, just say Damon's name and Damon will live and Enzo will get to spend the rest of eternity in never-ending emotional torment".

"What the bloody hell are you about?" a confused Rebekah asked.

"Oh you guys know about that right?" Sybil asked, "They're homicidal monsters, they have done the worst things imaginable, where do you think they're gonna end up? Some cloud-filled afterlife?", Sybil chuckled, "No, they're going to the other place, where all they will know is loneliness and despair forever and ever and ever".

"Damon isn't going to hell Sybil" Aria snapped, finally having enough of Sybil's nonsense, "Damon is immortal, he isn't going to die and if he does, then I will bring him, I will destroy hell just for him, and then you will know how powerful I truly am, Beks, press harder on that damn accelerator otherwise I'm going to commit a murder".

"You can't kill me" Sybil retorted.

"I can render you unconscious, then lock you in a coffin and throw you in the the damn ocean where no one will find you" Aria threatened, making both Caroline and Rebekah chuckle.

"You doing that won't bring Damon back to you, he will still be devoted to me" Sybil taunted.

Aria chuckled, "Trust me Sybil, Damon might be in your control right now but soon he will come back to me, he always does and together we are going to get rid of you and honestly I can not wait to dance your grave".

"We will see" Sybil said, glaring at Aria.

"Oh, we will" Aria said, giving Sybil a mock smile.

"What about you, Caroline" Sybil asked curiously, "What do you think Aria and Rebekah should do?", Sybil suddenly placed her hands on either side of Caroline's head and started going through her head while Caroline yelled in pain.

"Sybil, let go of my sister!" Aria yelled.

Sybil ignored Aria but nonetheless separated from Caroline and started laughing, "Oh, you think Aria is going to figure a way in which neither her or Rebekah will have to make an untenable choice", Sybil chuckled, "That's putting a lot of faith in a witch who has no magic".

"You have no idea what my sister can do!" Caroline snapped, glaring at Sybil, "You're going to watch as without her magic, Aria is going to save both Damon and Enzo".

Aria gave her sister a small smile through the mirror, she appreciated the faith she had in her but this time Aria wasn't confident that she had this, that she could save both Damon and Enzo, something told her either she was going to lose Damon or Rebekah was going to lose Enzo today.

"When Damon and Enzo start tearing each other apart, do you really think Aria is gonna let Enzo kill her soulmate, the father of her children?" Sybil asked Rebekah, trying to pit the two best friends against each other, "No, she's gonna choose Damon".

Aria and Rebekah looked at each other, they were both conflicted, one hand was the person they loved, on the other hand was the person their best friend loved, either way one of them was going to get hurt today and neither one of them knew who it was going to be.

"Aw, poor Enzo" Sybil taunted, "Nobody's choosing him, you're not even choosing him Rebekah, are you just gonna sit there and allow Enzo to die?".

"No" Rebekah whispered, making both Caroline and Aria look at her.

Suddenly Rebekah pressed hard on the breaks causing Sybil, who wasn't wearing her seatbelt to fly through the windshield and on to the road, and the other three girls to lunge forward but luckily their seatbelt stopped them from flying out the car.

"You two okay?" Caroline asked Aria and Rebekah.

"Peachy" Aria replied.

"Fine" Rebekah assured.

Aria looked at Sybil, who was still laying on the road but was moving slightly, "The bitch isn't dead".

"I didn't do this to kill her, I did this so she has to walk there now" Rebekah stated, making both her best friends laugh.

"We'll make it in time" Caroline assured her worried sister and best friend.

Rebekah looked at Aria, "Sybil's right, isn't she?" she asked, "You're going to protect Damon no matter what".

Aria looked at Rebekah, "Don't pretend like you wouldn't risk it all for Enzo, but Sybil is right about another thing, I have no magic Rebekah, I don't know how to help Damon, but you know how to help Enzo, you're an original, you can take both of them on, I might want to help, but right now I'm powerless, while you're powerful".

"Don't say that Aria" Caroline said, placing her hand on her sister's shoulder.

"It's the truth Care" Aria whispered, "I can pretend all I want of being a badass, but the truth is, without my magic, I'm not the first tribrid, I'm not strong enough to help my soulmate".

Caroline, Rebekah and Aria entered the high school gym just in time to see Damon stick his hand through Enzo's chest.

"Damon, stop!" Aria yelled, letting her presence known to the oldest Salvatore, "Damon, please, you are stronger then this, you can fight through this, I know you can, please just believe in yourself, fight Damon, please for me, for us, fight her mind control, Enzo is your friend, you don't want his blood on your hands, please stop".

"Stop, Damon!" Rebekah yelled.

"He can't" Sybil informed, appearing behind the three girls, "The only one that can stop him is one of you, whoever says a name first wins, so choose".

Aria looked at her soulmate, "Damon please, fight damn it!" she yelled, but Damon ignored her and stuck his hand further into Enzo's chest causing Enzo to cry in pain.

"Enzo!" Rebekah suddenly yelling, making Aria look at her in shock, "Save Enzo".

"Rebekah!" a shocked Caroline yelled

"Damon, kindly remove your hand without the gentleman's heart in it" Sybil instructed a shocked Damon.

"No" Damon whispered, stepping back from Enzo, "No".

"Damon" Aria called out, rushing over to her boyfriend, she cupped her face in his hands, "It's going to be okay Damon, I'm not going to let anything happen to you, Damon you are one stubborn person, you will never let this bitch strip you of all of your humanity, I know that the man I love is still in there, which is why I won't let you die", Aria looked at Rebekah, a betrayed expression on her face, "No matter who I have to stand against".

"You were going to choose Damon" Rebekah defended.

"No, I wasn't Rebekah!" Aria yelled, "Because I would never do that to my best friend, I would never be the reason as to why my best friend loses the man she loves!".

"Oof, I'm getting all weepy" Sybil said, stopping Aria and Rebekah's argument, "Who would ever thought that Rebekah would choose her love over her friendship? Certainly not me".

"I know where I'm going when I die" Damon said, walking over to Sybil, "You can't send me there, I'll fight every one of you!".

"Hmm" Sybil said, as Rebekah walked over to Enzo, who quickly placed her behind him, "So Rebekah can't live without Enzo, and clearly, Aria can't live without Damon, but nobody's bothered to ask me what I want, you're the only one that's truly committed around here Damon, well when it's not about Aria, you're an asset, Enzo's nothing but a burden, so I guess my only real problem is with you Aria, you didn't choose the right answer on time, which is why I'm gonna have Enzo kill you".

"What?" a shocked Enzo asked.

Sybil giggled, "If you want to live, then you have to kill Aria, and if you do that I'll kill Damon and then we can all get on with our lives, unless you give me what I want, turn off your humanity, pledge your loyalty to me, and then we can all go home happy", Sybil held her pinky up, "Pinkie swear".

"Don't trust her" Rebekah warned Enzo.

"Sorry, luv" Enzo apologised, "I don't see many other options".

"Enzo" Rebekah said, "Don't!".

"If he doesn't then Aria and Damon die Rebekah!" Caroline snapped, shocked with Rebekah's actions and words, "The triplets will be left without their parents, you can turn Enzo's humanity back on, but if Damon and Aria die, then there's no bringing them back, what part of that do you not get?!".

"Care stop" Aria said, tears in her eyes, "Whatever happens, it's Enzo and Rebekah's choice, just, promise, if we die today, you will take care of our kids".

"Stop!" Caroline snapped, "You're not dying, I won't let you".

"Come on, this is mercy" Sybil told Enzo, "You've seen what happens when you die, what if Damon and Aria, the two people who accepted you into their little family of misfits first, are due the same fate? Save yourself, save your friend and his one true love, save those tiny little kids from becoming orphans, do it".

For a moment, Enzo glared at Sybil, he then turned around and cupped Rebekah's face in his hand, "Rebekah, Rebekah".

"What the hell are you doing?" a confused Rebekah asked.

"If anyone can pull me back from precipice, it's you" Enzo informed, "I know you can".

"No" Rebekah whispered, realising what Enzo was about to do, "No".

Enzo placed his lips on to Rebekah's, after pulling away, he closed his eyes.

"Enzo please stop" Rebekah pleaded, but Enzo didn't stop.

The next time Enzo opened his eyes, there was no emotions in them, they were empty, he had turned his humanity off.

"Finally" Sybil giggled, as Enzo went and stood next to an emotionless Damon, "Now, was that so hard? Oh, one last thing, would you mind if I took back my promise to spare Aria's life?".

"No objections here" Enzo replied.

"Damon?" Sybil asked.

Damon looked at Aria, for some reason he couldn't bring himself to agree for Aria's death.

"See, that's the reason" Sybil said, seeing Damon's hesitation, "Despite everything I did, this girl just won't leave your system, so she has to die", Sybil looked at Aria, "Aria, I'm gonna count down from ten and then I'm gonna let Enzo kill you, ten, nine, eight, seven, Damon won't be able to help you even if he tried, six, I mean Caroline and Rebekah can try to help but something tells me you don't want Rebekah's help, five, Aria you really should be running now, four".

Seeing Aria just standing there and looking at Damon, caused Caroline to grab her wrist and speed her out of the gym, leaving behind a smirking Sybil.

Aria and Caroline speeded out of the school, when suddenly Enzo appeared infront of them, he threw Caroline on to the ground and grabbed Aria and pinned her between him and a car, but before he could rip her heart out, Aria head butted him causing him to stagger back while holding his nose, Aria then kicked Enzo on his chest causing him to fall backwards on to the middle of the road just as Kol hit him with his car.

"Ri, you okay?" Kol asked, coming out of the car and rushing over to Aria.

Aria breathed heavily, "I think so" she whispered.

Sybil walked over to the group with Damon right behind him, "How dare you come between me and my plans?!" an enraged Sybil asked Kol.

Kol ignored Sybil and instead pulled out a tuning fork  from his jacket, a tuning fork that Alaric found in the vault, he gave it to Kol having a suspicion that it could be used against Sybil, Kol banged the tuning fork on his car, immediately causing Sybil to start yelling and fall to the ground in pain.

After recovering from the car, Enzo got up and once again tried to charge at Aria but Caroline speeded behind him and snapped his neck, while Aria speeded over to where Sybil laid, she kicked her on her face, rendering her unconscious.

Aria looked at Damon, a smile on her face, "Damon" she whispered, taking a step towards the oldest Salvatore, who immediately took a step back from her, confusing Aria.

"It's not over" Damon whispered.

"What are you on about?" a confused Kol asked, "We have Sybil, you're free now".

"My work with her is just getting started" Damon informed.

"What exactly does she want you to do?" Aria asked curiously.

"Applesauce penguin, Aria" Damon replied, before getting into his car and driving away from the group, while a worried Aria looked on, she didn't try to stop him, she knew Sybil's mind control wouldn't let Damon stay with her even if he wanted to, so she had no choice but to watch him drive away.

Aria stood outside the armory's holding cell, watching Sybil through the glass window, when Rebekah walked over to her.

"Can we talk?" Rebekah asked.

"My head is hot right now Rebekah" Aria warned, "I don't think talking right now is a good idea".

"Enzo was the one fighting Sybil's mind control" Rebekah reminded, "He was the one who was risking his life to help us fight Sybil, to help us figure out what Sybil is, while Damon has done nothing Aria, except give up".

Aria glared at Rebekah, "Let me ask you something Rebekah, if at that gym, I had taken Damon's name, while letting Sybil kill Enzo, how would you have felt?" she asked, "And then instead of apologising to you, my best friend in the whole entire world, I start talking shit about Enzo? How would you feel if I ignore the fact that my best friend is clearly going through a tough time but despite that I start talk negatively about the father of your child?!

"Aria--".

"Stop Rebekah!" Aria snapped, "I get why you said Enzo's name, you love him and you were scared that you were going to lose him tonight, but what I don't get is that who gave you the right to say shit about Damon? Are you in his mind? How do you know he gave up Rebekah? Let me tell you something, you don't know Damon, not like I do, if Damon had truly given himself over to Sybil, then he wouldn't have hesitated when Sybil asked his opinion about Enzo killing me, so do me a favor Rebekah, and keep your false opinion about Damon to yourself, because I won't hear it, now I believe there's an unconscious Enzo in your trunk, go home and work on turning his humanity back on, leave me alone".

After snapping at Rebekah, Aria once again turned and stared at Sybil, a guilty Rebekah stared at Aria for a moment, before finally walking away from her.

Aria walked over to the couch in which Kol was sitting on at the armory, she sat down and put her legs on Kol's lap, making him laugh.

"Rough day?" Kol asked.

"The roughest" Aria said, rubbing her forehead, "Turns out, us thinking capturing Sybil was going to break her mind control on Damon was completely and utterly wrong, and now me and Rebekah are also on bad terms".

"You and Rebekah aren't on bad terms" Kol assured, "You two are just two girls who are in love and each of you want to save their significant other".

"I just didn't think me trying to save Damon would cost me Rebekah" Aria whispered.

Kol sighed, "Rebekah wanted to protect Enzo and in doing so she hurt you, but we both know she didn't mean to hurt you, eventually time will pass and the hurt will reduce and things will go back to normal".

"You sure?" Aria asked.

Kol grabbed Aria's hand in his, "I'm sure".

"Aria!" Caroline yelled, running over to where Kol and Aria were sitting.

"Care, what's wrong?" Aria asked, confused seeing Caroline's panicked expression.

"Damon killed Tyler" Caroline informed, shocking both Kol and Aria.
