「TWENTY ONE」

Lucas sat next to Dejun, hesitated for a while, and pulled out the recorder, setting it down on Dejun's bedside table, and locked the room door.

He started the recording, and smiled slightly as he heard Hendery's voice come out.

"Hey, Xuxi, Dejun, I know the both of you can hear me. The security camera in here doesn't pick up sound, and I had Mark check the room for any devices to listen in. He disabled them for a while, so I can talk. Anyways, I know both of you are anxious on how I'm going to get us out of this, trust me, I found a way yesterday, it's basically an easy spell that I can get done, I'm going to do it after this recording, so don't worry! If I can win the fight Johnny hyung set up for me, then he says I'll be ready, you'll be surprised how much stronger I got."

There was a small pause, like a grunt of pain and Hendery continued. "Don't worry, that's just me cleaning the bruise I got today, it's not a big deal. Anyways, Dejunnie, I know you can hear me. Wake up, please. Wake up for me, and for Xuxi. We need you to come back so we know you're okay, I remember everything, pet, please, wake up..."

Lucas could feel the hopelessness well up in himself as Xiaojun lay there, still the same as before. He couldn't stop the tears flowing out as Dejun lay there, as still as a corpse, the only thing showing that he was still alive was the rise and fall of his chest, and the heartbeat rate machine next to him.

The recorder was still playing, but there was no sound, until Lucas heard something like a choked sob. The machine suddenly beeped and flashed green, and Xuxi stared as Dejun's heartbeat started speeding up, and he swore he saw Xiaojun's thumb tap once.

"DEJUN!" he yelled, then covered his mouth, realizing he was still in a hospital. "Pet- please.. Come back, I need to know you're okay, Lucas and I have been worried to death and I swear I'll make everything better, I remember. I remember how we met, I remember how flustered I could make you, I remember how much you would blush whenever I made a stupid joke, and I remember you ripping off Lucas's scarf at the basketball game, revealing the bite wounds.. I remember you telling me what you liked drinking at our first Starbucks date, i remember how we kissed in the rain that day after school, I remember so please... Dejunnie... please come back to me.. Come back to us... I swear I'll protect you, I'm your lighthouse, remember?"

Dejun's hand moved slightly at that sentence, and Lucas had to cover his mouth to stop himself from screaming out loud in happiness. Hendery, however, who was watching this from the security cameras started screaming as soon as he saw Dejun move, unable to stop the tears from flowing down his face.

The deep voice inside his head chuckled. "Never have I ever seen a vampire cry, you just get more and more intriguing by the minute."

"You could say these two changed me." Hendery replied, and went back to staring intensely at the screen. "And don't develop a crush on me, I'm taken." the prince grinned as he heard the booming laugh in his head. "You flatter yourself, I would not fall for a vampire." Hendery shrugged, and stared at Dejun through the screen.

"And I once thought I'd never even date a human, much less date two. Anything is possible." he could imagine the devil in his head snorting, and returned his focus to Dejun.

Lucas grabbed Xiaojun's hand, silently begging for him to wake up. "Come on, dino, wake up. I love you, wake up..." He muttered, nuzzling Dejun's hand gently and kissed it. "Come on, I know you can do it."

Xiaojun's eyelashes fluttered, and he opened his eyes, making Lucas stand up abruptly and start screaming. "OH MY GOD- DOCTOR!" Xuxi yelled, nearly fainting with all the excitement, and Hendery screamed out loud again, falling down from his chair and onto the floor, but he was laughing and whooping with joy as he lay there.

"I thought vampires were supposed to be graceful as well." "SHUT UP YOU'RE RUINING THE MOOD AND DEJUN WOKE UP @#($*$$$*&(*@)#!"

"I understand 5000 out of the 7000 languages in the world and I did not understand that." "GET A SENSE OF HUMOR OLD MAN!" Hendery jumped up, and cheered as he saw the doctors rushing into the room to check Xiaojun's health.

"And you should get a sense of respect for your elders." "Would you rather to have me speak to you like a tuned robot instead of the nice and charming vampire I am now?" There was a pause, and for a second the vampire thought he could see the devil thinking. "No. I like you very much the way you are." Hendery nearly choked, and then got back up, grabbing his backpack as he headed towards the fighting gym.

"Yeah yeah, thanks. Got a fight later, so I guess I can quench your bloodthirst." "Finally, a chance to play, I've missed fighting in a human form." not like Hendery would admit it, but he agreed with the Devil. He honestly missed the feeling of fighting and adrenaline racing up in his veins, getting punched all day and releasing all of his anger on a punching bag wasn't fun.

"So you're alike to me in some way, you're just as bloodthirsty. You're trying to change for those humans, aren't you?" The Devil stated, reading the prince's thoughts.

Hendery gave no response, filling his water bottle.

"Just remember, princeling. No one can change their nature."

"You were born a monster, and you'll die a monster.
