Chapter 61: Breathe In, Breathe Out

It was a large room, open space that, for the most part, was brightly lit up in the centre. It was completely empty, and, similarly to the last warehouse you had searched, had a singular, metal chair in the centre.

Like your Red Room.

But instead of a traitor, a criminal...

Yoongi was on that chair.

And you could barely recognise him.

His head hung low, black hair laced with sweat as it dangled in front of his face, obscuring your view.

You were too far away to determine if there was blood in the mix.

But you didn't need to see his face to tell that he was, in fact, closer to death than you had expected. You could clearly see it.

Because they'd taken his shirt.

His skin looked as if it has been shredded by a whip, cuts (some old, some new) covering the wide expanse of his chest, abdomen and shoulders, even rising cruelly up his neck. You assumed his back had suffered the same fate, if not worse. The remainder of what would have been his usually milky white skin was battered with purple, green and black bruises.

By the shape and size of them, you knew they would have come from a bat of some sort.

And not only had he been harshly beaten, but he'd been starved.

His skin was bound tightly around his ribs, the bones almost looking as if they could pierce through at any moment.

His legs looked stick thin, and down the side of his left calf, you spotted long gash, about 20cm long.

None of his wounds had been given the slightest attention, and he hadn't been fed much, if not at all.

His body didn't show any signs of life, other than the slow, painful rising of his chest.

He really was close to death.

After you had overcome the shock of seeing one of your brothers in such a condition because of you, your despair turned to fury.

You clenched your fists and loaded your gun before angrily making your way out into the open, briefly scanning the room for OSH.

But after only a few steps, a hand grabbed your wrist and pulled yousideways and to the ground, next to a cold, concrete wall.

You turned, only to find Jisoo's hand covering your mouth, her eyes wide.

She couldn't believe you were just going to walk out into the open, possibly getting yourself killed.

"We can't go yet! Backup's not here," she whispered harshly, trying to be as quiet as possible.

You blinked an angry tear, frustration and helplessness seeping into your veins once more. "Have you seen the condition he's in?! We can't wait!"

She glanced at Yoongi briefly, then looked back at you with a helpless expression. "I know, but he's got men situated around the room in the dark, see?" See gestured to the corners of the room, and you glanced around, immediately spotting the dark figures. "Even if he wants you alone, you had to wait until we've got them covered, so we can get out safely. Otherwise he's going to have a little chat and kill you, which means you won't save Oppa."

You quickly wiped the tears, knowing the truth in what she was saying. "How... how far is backup?" you breathed.

She shrugged. "Ten minutes, maybe? I'm not too sure..."

You didn't reply, turning back to look at Yoongi.

You wanted to help him, but you weren't able to do anything. You'd have to wait.

But you weren't prepared for what you were about to witness, that's for sure.

Out of nowhere, a girl walked in, long black hair falling gracefully down her back. She was not tied, was not bruised, was not beaten. In her hand, she carried a black belt, which was worn, torn, and battered from the beatings you presumed it had already carried out.

It only took a few seconds for you to figure out who it was.

"Dahyun." You swore under your breath, and behind, you heard a soft gasp from Jisoo.

So OSH had Dahyun, but she wasn't captive.

She was beating Yoongi.

You couldn't believe it. You didn't want to believe it.

Because that would mean you'd have to kill Dahyun.

She was like your sister. You didn't think you could do it.

Yet, you watched in horror as she approached Yoongi, step by step.

You couldn't see her hands shaking. You couldn't see the tears streaming down her face.

You saw the back of her head, the confident stride of someone with no remorse, no regrets for what they were about to do.

You saw red.

She raised the belt.

You raised your gun.

She brought it down on Yoongi's shoulder.

And just as you were about to shoot, Jisoo snatched the gun from your hand.

But your eyes didn't leave Yoongi.

He had woken up from whatever state he was in, head sharply arcing back, eyes wide open, a silent cry leaving his mouth.

Blood began to flow steadily from the now re-opened cuts on the shoulder that had just been struck, and tears  began to flow from your eyes.

Yoongi's face was scrunched in pain, and you couldn't stand it.

You squinted your eyes shut, but the beating didn't stop. You could only hear the sound of his disgruntled, strangled cries.

He was past the point of screaming.

Jisoo's arms slowly enveloped your figure, and you started to sob.

"They're nearly here," she whispered, in a futile effort to comfort you.

This was far worse than being beaten.

This was the only torture you couldn't bare, and you knew OSH meant it to be that way.

OSH knew your weak spot, and had wrung you dry.

The seconds Yoongi's beating turned into minutes, and so did the fiery hatred that was beginning to grow in you for Dahyun.

You couldn't believe that she would do such a thing.

And as timed ticked on, as the belt came down again and again, Yoongi's cries hushed.

No.

That was the worst thing that could happen. If he wasn't making noise...

You wiped your tears quickly, looking up, fearing the worst.

Your breath was caught in your throat, your eyes wide with hope that it wasn't what you were thinking.

Dahyun stopped too, and it seemed as if she were unsure of what to do next. She looked uncertainly over her shoulder, her hair obscuring her face from your vision.

Yoongi's head was hanging low once more, and he wasn't moving.

Your heart almost stopped, but then you heard a low groan.

He's still alive.

Closing your eyes, you finally let out a heavy breath.

The groan came once more, this time louder.

You slowly opened your eyes, watching Yoongi carefully.

Suddenly, he lurched forward in his chair, the blood-soaked ropes binding him cutting further into his flesh.

Dahyun turned back around slowly, facing him.

Then, Yoongi coughed.

He continued coughing, more violently with each lurch in the chair.

It only took a few coughs for Dahyun to scream, jumping back suddenly.

He was coughing blood.
