ALLERGIC TO FRIENDS

CATHEDRAL'S POV

I sat in the conference on the VC project. I took note of everything that was being said and suggested.

The slides were shuffled and I found myself drifting into the events that took place in the previous week.

Samantha has been staying with us for a couple of weeks now, everything was running smoothly. We had to put her into a daycare much to my hate, But with the project into its vital and final stage, I could not spare time to look after her.

She had been doing good at art and last sunday, we made cupcakes together. Jason and I were so attached to her already, it would tear our souls to let her go.

I and Jason were spending a lot time with her, keeping her happy was wordlessly his and mine priority.

We had visited the zoo, the mall , park and many other places in these two weeks. She was such an angel, I loved her so much, like she was my own blood.

My heart often took a route back to the question that stands before us, What about the future?

Whenever this question raised in me, my mind told my heart to shut the fudge up!

Will Jason want kids? Maybe in the future.

I was that race of people who adored kids and loved them. Whenever I saw a pregnant woman, I often thought, how lucky she must be to have been blessed with the grace of your own blood, something through you, someone so dear, no matter what, you will always protect and love.

" Miss Cathedral, What do you say then?" Cooper Flegman asked me.

" I am sorry I did not quite catch that, could you repeat Mr Flegman?"

" The fundraiser for architectural companies like ours, We have decided along with the CEO, some employees needed to be there, since you are the one handling Mr Knight's project, you should go." He repeated and I noted not to zoom out ever again like this.

" Sure sir, when is-"

" You will get all the details through an email." He cut me off and dismissed everyone.

I went back to my office and checked the progress on the VC project, the construction had begun already.

" Cathedral this side." I picked the telephone.

" It's me, your ol'chap. I hope you do recognise me right?" No, it was Alex again.

" Why are calling me?" I asked as tears were already surfacing to my eyes.

" We need to meet-"

" So you can kill me like last time? No I will not meet you and you better stop with your threats." I shouted and cut the call.

The door opened and both Jason and Xavier rushed in,

"Are you okay?" They both said in a unison and looked at each other.

" Good afternoon gentlemen, how may I help you?" I faked my innocence.

" What is up with you love?" Jason asked me and Xavier was perplexed.

" Love?" Xavier asked and looked in between me and Jason.

" Cathedral is my girlfriend, have a problem with that?." Jason growled at him.

" Sir if you-" I wanted to kick them out for creating nuisance in my cabin.

" You are with Jason Blake?" Xavier turned towards me.

" Sir, not to sound rude but my personal affairs are none of your concerns." I said formally.

" To what do I owe this pleasure for both of your sudden arrivals?" I continued sarcastically.

" Cathedral, we are hosting a dinner party to discuss the new project with your company and we wanted to invite you, it's more like an informal dinner." Xavier explained.

An idea popped into my head!

" If it's going to be an informal dinner, I would love to host it at our place, Jason?" I looked at him for approval.

" Brilliant, yeah sure!" He said.

" Okay then, I will email you our address Xavier. Will that be all?" I asked giving the the cue to get the fudge out of my cabin. How silly of me to kick out both my boss' boss' boss and my dear client!

" That will be all" Jason said and gestured Xavier to follow him out.

I could hear them whisper but could not make out the words properly. Nevertheless I continued with my work and finished it by four and drove home so I could see to the preparations for tonight.

The bell rang and Juliana opened the door.

" Aunty Cathy, I want fooodie" I heard Samantha shouting from the door .

" Wash your hands and change your clothes first." I replied and turned on the gas to prepare milk for Samantha.

I felt hand tugging at my waist and breathe fanning on my neck. He inhaled intensely.

" What are you doing Sama-"

" Shh..." His grip tightened.

" Aunty Cathy I washed my hands!" Samantha exclaimed and I pushed Jason back.

" Good flower, eat your sandwich while I give you your milk." Samantha was really addicted to the milk I prepared. I poured and passed the glass. She ate her sandwich and drank the milk while complaining to me about her day, some guy named Tim, always took the toy she wanted to play with first.

Both Jason and I chuckled at her narrative.

" Flower bedtime at sharp eight, we will have some guests over." Jason said and kissed her head before fading away into our bedroom.

" But Aunty Cathy, I want to meet the gests" She whined.

" You will get bored Sam, we will talk about business stuff which I tell you, is really boring."

" So you all will not play Cinderella?" She asked.

" No sweety" I replied

" Nor will you paint?"

"No, just some talk that will bore you to sleep, even without listening to a story." My reply had caused her expressions to change from normal to the ones of horror.

" I will weep aunty Cathy." She said and ran into the living room to watch cartoon.

Everything was perfectly taken care of, the dinner was ready and the table was set. I straightened my peach semi-formal dress I wore for the dinner and combed my hair while Jason was staring at me, scratch that- gawking at me.

" It is extremely rude to stare." I broke the silence.

" I was gazing at the beauty in front of me." He replied and came near.

" Can you help me with this?" I asked and held the red rose necklace he had given to me.

" Sure" He took the necklace and I stood up looking at him or in his eyes from the mirror.

His hands burnt on my skin as he sided my hairs and kissed on my neck before clasping the necklace.

" I love you Cathedral" He whispered in my ears and I closed my eyes by the effect he was having on me.

" I love you Jason." I said it back and kissed him lightly.

" Let's go" He said and took my hand before the bell rang.

Xavier had kept up with his puntual attitude and made it on time, he had brought red wine as a formality, which now I took a sip of while taking a bite of steak.

" Estimated time for this project to be over is minimum six months and maximum a year." Jason said and Xavier nodded.

" Has anyone thought of the theme or what type of designs are we going to put in?" I asked clearing my throat.

" We will have the meetings and discussions after the deal is-" Xavier was cut off by the sound of bell ringing. Juliana was putting Samantha to sleep so I decided to see it,

" I will get it," I said and got up. I opened the door to find no one but a lonely bouquet of flowers which was wrapped in crepe paper. I could not see the flowers so I picked the bouquet and took off the paper veiling the flowers.

Blood orchids,.

Only thing in the world I was allergic to. I breathed and gasped for air as the itching and dizziness took over me. I reached towards the table next to me for support knocking off vase in the process.

" Cathedral is everything fine?" I registered Jason's voice as I lost the control over my feet and fell to the floor.

" Wes, keep your eyes open......" Jason's face was the last thing I remember before I slipped into a deep slumber.
