Chapter 24 : Counter-attack

"I can't shake him off King. Even though I have managed to do so early on." I said.

"I'm now on a speedboat, are you on the bridge?" he asked.

"I'm right on it." I replied.

"I'm close to your location Isabella." he said. "When you saw the boat, jump." but before I can end the call I heard screams. A white lorry has crashed through the crowd, heading towards my direction.

"I have to now." I told Uncle Roland and pocketed my phone. Jumping onto the railing I outstretched my arms and as truck came closer I jumped into the swirling water of the Thames. Free flow sang in my blood as I made my dive into the cold, icy waters. Bobbing my head out of the water I breathed in a huge amount of fresh air as a speedboat approached my location beneath the bridge. Standing on the deck Uncle Roland reached his hand to me and pulled me onboard. Grabbing a towel in the cabin he wrapped it around my freezing body before pulling the lever to increase the speed of the boat. The boat sped off and I looked back at the bridge. The truck crashed into the river soon after, prompting Uncle Roland to reduce speed and look back.

"What?" he asked in disbelief.

"The truck was crashing into people." I said with a shaky voice due to the cold. "I have to make this early jump."

"More of a terror attack." he said. Without adding on anything he continued the journey. The boat docked into a underwater platform beneath the building. "Mind your foot my dear." he said before getting off. Getting off the boat we took the elevator upwards. "I hope that you have brought some dry clothes."

"I have, but I need to change." I said. "Lucky that my backpack's waterproof."

"My office is at the floor overlooking the Thames." he said. Reaching the ladies room I shivered in coldness as I peeled off the wet clothes and stuffing them into a waterproof plastic bag after folding. I traded my earlier clothes with a simple sweater and a pair of jeans. Several officers looked at me when I entered the office, due to the ID tag I wore on my neck. Instead of a fake MI6 tag I wore my FBI ID tag while keeping my badge and gun inside the backpack. Entering the office I met with my uncle, as the new chief of MI6. Andy is already inside, smiling confidently at me as he folded his arms. We shook hands with the chief and sat at the chairs opposite the table. "We have decoded the computer he had with him at the day of the explosion," he said, folding his fingers on the table. "and downloaded them into this hard drive." he added, sliding a black device towards us. "Simon Harris has been detained under Her Majesty's behalf."

"Has he spoken anything?" I asked.

"No Black Bird. Unfortunately no." he replied. "But we have the evidence we need."

"We can leave now." I then said. "Our work here is done."

"The MI6 can't thank you enough for helping to solve this cold case." he then said, standing up. "I do hope for a future partnership if the opportunity arises."

"If so." I smiled, shaking his hand. After shaking hands we left the building, walking towards the nearby train station entrance.

"Hey, mind if I ask you a question?" Andy asked in a casual manner.

"Sure, what is it?"

"But don't be angry with me." he then added.

"Why?" I asked. "Wait, scrub that. I already know."

"Yeah, I'm just curious. What is going on between you and your ex?" he asked. "You seemed pretty pissed off." I looked around.

"How about dinner?" I offered. "We can talk it through." he agreed and we stopped by at a local restaurant with an outdoor patio. We ordered our food and begun the conversation as soon as the waiter is outside our range of vision. "He wasn't my ex-boyfriend." I explained, after a heavy sigh. "You see, he was my childhood friend."

"Seriously, what?" he asked, showing his hands. "You rarely talked about your private life, no wonder Ryan called you as an enigmatic woman."

"It's what I do." I smiled.

"Gosh, I'm jealous." he said, pressing a hand against his chest.

"Do you?" I asked. "Too bad that you don't grow up with an uncle in the Unicorn and Lion."

"Eh... what?" he asked.

"You went for a crash course. What does these animals represent?" I asked. "Come on, leaked out of your brain already?"

"Right, right, unicorn and lion." he retorted. "Why did you address him as King?"

"Seriously you have no idea?" I asked, waving a hand in front of him. "New chief of Unicorn and Lion."

"Oh, bloody hell." he cursed. My phone buzzed in my pocket as the waiter came with the dishes.

"It's me." I said into the phone.

"Are you still in England Black Bird?" my uncle asked.

"We haven't leave yet. Is something wrong?"

"It's about the 'accident' on the bridge." he said. "Try to leave as early as possible. I fear that they won't stop until the both of you are dead."

"What? Who?" I asked, looking up at Andy.

"It's the Venezuelans Isa. They found out that we're onto the president, that bastard has already predicted this." I then looked up and threw an uneasy glance at Andy, prompting him to realize that this call isn't a simple one. "I have informed your superior about this. You have to take your target in now." then he ended the call.

"So much for a simple dinner." Andy said, waving for the bill after we both finished our dinner. We departed and once again headed to the tube station for a train back to Westminster. "What is with this dude?" he asked me in a whisper. "I saw him again, tailing us."

"Must be my phone." I said. Turning off the phone I turned to see the same baseball cap and is now looking at his phone, with his gaze still focused on me occasionally. "Turn away." I told him. Lucky that not much traffic is present and not much tube users I took out a grenade from my backpack. Pulling the pin and dropping it to the ground the grenade emitted a blinding light I know that would temporary blind anyone within the range and we ran down the stairs as fast as can to take the tube back to Westminster.
