Two on Two

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

While the fight between the cousins carried on, Lucian noticed that they were slowing going farther and farther from the barrier. He wanted to get back there, but every time he tried, Rezin pushed him back more. There was no doubt that this was intentional on Rezin's part and Lucian worried about your safety. Either Rezin placed a spell trap for you, or someone else was waiting for when you would exit the barrier. Both options were dreadful to think about, but at this rate he might not get back there in time. In frustration, he released twenty ice spears at once in Rezin's direction, who summoned a rock shield to deflect. Each of their attacks was getting them nowhere and both were getting exhausted. With another attempt, Lucian ran forward, as Rezin threw lightning from his hands. Managing to dodge-roll the first few strikes and then blocking the next ones with an air shield, Lucian almost made it past Rezin until he felt a blast of air throw him to the side. Grunting in slight pain from impacting a tree, Lucian quickly pulled himself up and glared at his cousin.

"Why so eager to get away from me, do you miss the hybrid so much that you're willing to forgo an opportunity to kill me?"

"Tch, why would I want to stay around here with you? You reek of a sewer animal, which only comes out when being offered food by a superior."

Rezin's right eyebrow twitched slightly, but he remained grinning.

"Tell me how such a pathetic being as yourself managed to follow us here."

"Such cruel words cousin, but I guess that I can oblige you since it would seem that we're taking a break in our fighting."

Keeping his smirk to himself, Lucian merely nodded in response, but he was taking no break. He simply wanted information as well as a distraction while he planned his next move. Rezin's arrogant grin would soon be his downfall. "I arrived only a few moments after the two of you arrived."

"How exactly did you know that we would be coming today?"

"My dear cousin, it would seem that you overlooked a small detail on your hybrid. At the back of her neck I placed a tracker on her, since I couldn't enter her dreams or kidnap her from your mansion; it was one of my few options left. Sadly, the tracker is only a one-time use, so it's not there anymore. It's a pity that I can't develop a more advanced tracker, but then again I've never been good at making trackers since my skill lies in invading someone's dream.

"However, I'm starting to go on a tangent. Thus once I came here, I decided to take a short cut and go right up the stairs. I mean why on earth would I travel through those silly puzzles?"

"Going up the stairs is impossible; they're filled with traps."

"That's why I brought others with me. I wouldn't think that all twenty of the individuals that I brought would die, what a pity."

"How did you convince that many to come with you here?"

"Quite simple, have you forgotten that I can enter dreams? They were my puppets and willingly sacrificed themselves for me. I daresay though that the mess they left was quite disgusting. They almost splattered blood across my new coat," he said, shaking his head in a disapproving manner.

"You're disgusting."

"Please Lucian, stop acting like you wouldn't do the same. You care nothing for anyone, except for that hybrid of yours. If she weren't around, you would kill dozens of people to achieve your goal."

"Don't compare me to you, I wouldn't kill innocents. My eyes are only set on killing those who toyed with my life in a way I deem unforgivable. And you're right, I do only care for her and I would kill those who stood in my way, though if they were to fight me then they wouldn't be viewed as innocents in my eyes."

Having enough of this conversation, Lucian snapped his right middle finger and thumb together, revealing his attack. A spiked vine shot from the ground below and went to wrap around Rezin. Seeing this just in time, Rezin dodged to the best of his ability, but the vine still secured itself around his right arm. The spikes plunged into his skin, causing him to emit a rather loud scream. Lucian summoned a spear of ice to his hands, ready to plunge it through Rezin's chest.

Your eyes viewed none of this, as you washed up onto the shore of the grassy plains. Opening your (e/c) eyes, you were glad to see that you were back where you started, though only this time you had the mask piece in your hands. Standing up, you held onto the mask piece in your left hand and proceeded to go onto the other side of the barrier, leaving the cold waters behind you. Passing through the barrier, you stopped almost abruptly. You were expecting to see Lucian and the tumbleroll, but instead you saw neither. Before your eyes was the aftermath of a battle. Large holes were in the ground, some plants seemed to almost be frozen while there were places of charred earth. Jutted rocks were here and there, making you quite confused. Moreover, the tumbleroll was nowhere in sight. Listening closely, you could still hear the sounds of fighting in the distance. What was going on? Was Lucian in trouble?

You were about to run off and make sure that he was okay, but you felt yourself being thrown to the side. Colliding with the grass covered ground, you groaned in pain, as you looked up to see who had thrown you. Your eyes widened before they narrowed, when you saw Rayna smirking down at you. Immediately, you stood up and winced slightly at the pain forming in your body. The mask piece remained in your hand and you gripped it tightly, not wanting to let go of it.

"You know I can just knock you down again hybrid, though if you hand over the mask piece I'll make your death quick."

"Like I would ever let you lay your dirt covered hands on this. Besides you have no intention of making my death slow. I can see the blood lust in your eyes, but then again whose says I'm going to let you kill me," you stated confidently, even though you really had no chance in fighting her.

"Is that so? Well I suppose you're right. I really want to savor killing you. Taking Lucian from me was a mistake, but I guess it helped me to realize that Rezin is better."

Her voice was sickly sweet and you wanted to cover your ears just listening to her. Personally, you had heard enough from her and while she continued to go on a tangent about how great Rezin was, you made it for the trees and bushes, seeking some cover. She noticed this just as you made it to a tree. Hiding behind it just in time, you heard her laugh in a mocking manner before something zoomed towards the tree. Within seconds, you felt a strong gust of wind go past you. Seeing multiple trees bend back against the blast while bushes were almost ripped from the ground, you backed away from the tree in front of you, which was now shattered to pieces. You were surprised to find that none of the bark had implanted itself into your skin. A ball of fluff jumped up and down in front of you while its bright eyes seemed to smile up at you. An expression of gratefulness spread across your features, as you realized that the tumbleroll just saved your life by forming a brief barrier around you. Rayna let out a frustrated groan, as she prepared another blast. Not waiting around for it, you darted further into the forest with the tumbleroll at your side.

As you ran through the trees, hearing her right behind you, you looked up to see a multitude of greenish-yellow eyes staring down at you. All the tumblerolls seemed to smile at you before turning their gaze on the woman behind you. Rayna noticed them as well and stopped in her tracks, pausing to take in the new situation. This pause granted you the time you needed to search for a means of self-defense. Noticing your searching gaze, the tumbleroll beside you butted its head into the back of your knees, making you almost fall over. Turning towards it, you saw it leaning its head in the direction of a cave. The yelling from Rayna behind you made you almost not notice the soft snoring sound coming from the cave. Taking a quick glance over your right shoulder, you saw Rayna throwing wind attacks left and right at the tumblerolls, who deflected all of her attacks. Outwardly, you smirked at seeing her struggle. Focusing your attention back on the cave, you followed the tumbleroll towards the cave.

Once the two of you reached the cave, the tumbleroll's eyes seemed to illuminate the rocky inside of the cave. A faint light from the moon seeped through the trees and poured into the cave opening, allowing you to see natural steps formed out of stone as well as a dirt floor. Moreover, the rocks had some cracks in them, but remained sturdy while the coloration of the rocks was of a greyish-green tint. Peering inside further, you saw a giant skinned rabbit snoring softly. Its visible muscles seemed to flex in areas, as it inhaled and exhaled. Your feet seemed to be glued to the ground, as you looked upon the slightly disturbing beast. Even though the rabbit, which was eight feet tall and eight feet wide, was asleep, its grey eyes were wide open due to it lacking eyelids. There was no hiding that you were slightly terrified of this thing and so you glanced down at the tumbleroll with a gaze that screamed, 'Do I have to do this?'. It only nodded and encouraged you forward. Hesitantly, you walked into the cave, stepping ever more closely to the animal.

Cautiously, you reached out your left hand and tapped on the things back right leg. Upon your touch, the thing instantly woke up and stared at you with its wide eyes that were as big as your head. Gulping, you stared back at it, but soon it cast its gaze to the sound of Rayna's cursing outside. Upon seeing her attacking its territory, the rabbit rose from its sleeping position and began to the exit the cave. A breath of relief escaped your lips, as the rabbit seemed disinterested in you, though you were surprised by the rabbit's good distance vision. While the rabbit left for Rayna, the tumbleroll jumped over to you and started pushing you out of the cave. Not a moment later, you heard Rayna let out a scream of terror, as the tumbleroll guided you in another direction. When you found yourself at good distance from Rayna and the rabbit, you saw the tumbleroll lean in the direction in front of you, signaling for you to go forward. It soon jumped up into one of the trees while you went in the designated direction, hoping that you would soon find Lucian.
