Chapter 23

"Boom!"

Even without the reminder from the headmaster, the people in the office noticed the unusual sight outside the window.

A private airship was approaching the academy. The airship was pure black, with sleek and beautiful lines. As it flew by, it stirred up a terrifying hurricane.

In the empire, those who could own such a private airship were few and far between. The headmaster, being well-informed, immediately guessed who the person was.

In a fluster, he said, "Quickly, let's go down!"

Captain Fang was also astonished. Although he was considered part of the military, he was just a junior officer, a world apart from the higher-ranking generals.

Even he was witnessing such a scene for the first time. Could it be that someone from the military... had come for this child?

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but steal a glance at Bai Yue.

The expression on the other side didn't show much change. Because the window was open, the wind blew into the room, lifting the boy's light gray bangs, revealing a smooth forehead.

Perhaps sensing the gaze, the other party looked back and smiled slightly.

"Hmm!"

Captain Fang finally understood why his son always talked about Bai Yue. Indeed, Bai Yue was handsome, but that smile was truly annoying.

By now, the headmaster had rushed out in a panic, and the homeroom teacher was about to follow. However, he remembered that Fang Zhenren's parents were still present and turned back, saying, "Both of you, higher-ups from the military are coming. Let's discuss Fang Zhenren's matter later."

At this point, Fang's parents' faces no longer showed their previous arrogance. They nodded obediently, "Of course, you go ahead and deal with your matters first."

The homeroom teacher then turned to Bai Yue, "You go back to the classroom first, we'll call you if needed."

The sudden arrival of military personnel was unexpected, and it was unclear what the reason might be. If Bai Yue himself was indeed an S+ level Alpha, it was very likely that they had come for him.

But it was still uncertain. If the military were to come up later, it wouldn't be appropriate for the students to stay here.

Bai Yue nodded and walked out of the office.

The homeroom teacher then left as well. Fang's parents exchanged a glance and followed suit.

For the students of Luo Hua Academy, this day would probably be unforgettable for the rest of their lives.

After the end of the awakening period, there were hardly any other major events for the third year students. They only focused on revising day after day, preparing for the upcoming college entrance examination.

But all of this seemed to have little relevance to the underachiever Li Ren.

He still did as he always did, placing a book on his desk to shield his view and burying his head to sneakily play with his phone.

However, he seemed somewhat absent-minded. After Bai Yue was called away by the homeroom teacher, he didn't return until class was over, and Li Ren had no idea what had happened.

He sighed heavily, put away his phone, and turned to look out the window.

The sky was a clear blue, sunlight streaming through the window, casting a warm and cozy atmosphere, making one feel drowsy. The teacher's voice from the podium sounded like a hypnotic melody.

Just like every other summer day.

As Li Ren's gaze shifted downward and he saw the scenery inside the academy, he couldn't help but rub his eyes.

He rubbed his eyes again.

After confirming that he wasn't seeing things, he suddenly stood up. The chair behind him fell with a loud crash, but he didn't even bother to acknowledge it, pressing himself against the window.

The teacher frowned, "Li Ren, what are you doing? It's class time, sit down."

But Li Ren remained motionless. He still maintained his original posture, absent-mindedly gripping the window with both hands.

This action drew the attention of the other students. Everyone looked out the window, and with just one glance, they all froze in shock.

"What the heck, what's going on!?"

"The legendary private airship? This is my first time seeing it!"

"The military personnel? Why would they come to our school?!"

They rushed towards the window side. For a moment, the entire classroom emptied out, with everyone crowding around the windows.

"So impressive. My face feels like it's going to be blown crooked!"

It wasn't just Class 3, but the entire third year, even the whole Luo Hua Academy, that noticed. Everyone squeezed at the window, exclaiming and shouting as they watched the scene before them.

Students from the first floor even felt it wasn't enough; one after another, they jumped out of the window. Although the teachers had the intention to maintain order, they couldn't help but be drawn to the scene outside.

What on earth... was going on?

The private airship hovered in mid-air, stirring up an immensely large wave of wind that caused ripples in the vegetation below. Even the air visibly trembled.

No wonder the students were surprised; private airships were extremely rare and expensive, something ordinary people might never see in their lifetime.

Because, an "airship" was a transcendent vehicle capable of jumping between galaxies. Although the empire had public airships, a single ticket cost thousands. Not to mention these private vehicles, which required tens of millions to billions to obtain.

But money alone wasn't enough. Only officers above the rank of colonel were eligible to own this dream vehicle; otherwise, it was illegal.

So, the person sitting on this vehicle must hold a rank of at least a brigadier general.

The students crowded the window, eager to see who the people inside might be.

The open space of Luo Hua Academy was flat and spacious. Soon, the private airship, which could accommodate dozens of people, found its position and began to descend slowly.

After the door opened, everyone couldn't help but swallow saliva uncontrollably. The first thing that caught their eyes was a majestic military officer, with a burly figure that hinted at formidable strength.

However, after he descended, he didn't move forward but stood to the side. With his hands behind his back, he waited for the next military officer.

Until more than a dozen military personnel came down, each standing on both sides like the first one, forming a wide path.

Some sharp-eyed students noticed, "Look at their military badges, these are all school officials!"

To rise to the rank of major or above, the genetic grade must be at least A.

In the eyes of ordinary people, genetic grades, which were extremely rare, were relatively common within the military.

—Until the last person descended.

When everyone saw the face of that person, they all froze. Even the students who had been screaming with excitement were now holding their breath, unable to utter a word.

"...Isn't that person a general?"

In the empire, soldiers were highly respected. Compared to the president, the public paid more attention to the actions of the marshal. With just a word from the marshal, they could almost overturn the entire empire.

A "general" was only one rank below "marshal" and was also the most likely candidate to become the next marshal.

Such a figure, who could only be admired from afar, actually appeared at their little rundown school. Was this a dream?

Some students were so excited that they even fainted. After a brief silence in the classroom, there was an even more intense outcry, almost turning into chaos.

After the general got off the airship, the soldiers on both sides raised their right hands and pounded their chests with a bang—this was the salute ceremony of imperial soldiers when facing superiors.

The general's hands hung at his sides, his back straight, as he walked through the corridor of soldiers who were welcoming him.

And those soldiers, following the lead of the general, also turned sideways and followed behind him. Their momentum and aura were extremely daunting. The leading general, compared to the soldiers behind him, looked very young. Because the higher the level of genes, the slower the aging process. Although the other party looked young, their actual age should be much older. Li Ren, who usually enjoyed gossip and often watched TV, finally got a clear look at the general's appearance and couldn't help but be surprised: "Isn't this person... General Lu?"

Until now, the third-year students of Class 3 were only shocked by the appearance of the general. Now, after hearing Li Ren's words, they suddenly understood why he appeared in this small run-down academy. General Lu was indeed too famous. Not only as a general of the military, but also as the principal of the "Imperial Comprehensive Military Academy". The Imperial Comprehensive Military Academy was the empire's top-ranked military academy, and its graduates were almost considered reserves of the military. The speed of promotion after entering the military was as fast as riding a rocket.

Despite this, no one would be jealous. Because the admission criteria for the Imperial Comprehensive Military Academy were very strict, and compared to ordinary people, its graduates had this kind of capital. Others were not qualified to be jealous. So now, why would the principal of the Imperial Comprehensive Military Academy appear here?

At that moment, everyone's gaze turned to the class monitor. Now, in their Luohua Academy, there was only one A-level Alpha, and only this A-level Alpha was qualified to receive the principal's personal welcome. Du Qin's friends seemed more excited than he was, nudging him with their elbows, "They must be here for you. Such a grand reception, it's quite an honor!"

Du Qin smiled but remained silent. In truth, he found it strange. After all, last year, Shang Yufei from the previous class also tested as an A-level genetic rank. Although someone from the Imperial Military Academy came to greet him at that time, it was just one of the deans from a department. Why was the principal coming over this year?

But he also felt that, apart from himself, there seemed to be no one else in the academy qualified to receive this honor. So, he didn't say anything, tacitly agreeing with his friend's statement.

Congratulations rang out one after another. "Congratulations!"
"So prestigious. The principal personally coming by airship to welcome, who else can boast such grandeur?"
"Come to think of it, that Shang Yufei guy isn't that impressive after all. Even if he's also A-level, the class monitor's talent must be much better than his!"

Du Qin was very modest: "It's all thanks to our parents, I can't claim any credit."

His friend pulled Du Qin: "Since they've come to pick you up personally, let's hurry down. Don't keep them waiting."

At those words, Du Qin looked at the teacher. The teacher, seeing that the students were no longer focused on the lesson, nodded.

The students of Class 3 felt honored and walked out, surrounding their class monitor.

Hearing the commotion outside, students from other classes also peered out. Class 3 students shouted:

"Let's go together. Today's visit is from General Lu, the principal of the Imperial Comprehensive Military Academy. He must be here for the enrollment matters."

With that said, everyone understood. Due to Du Qin's identity as an A-level Alpha, coupled with three consecutive years of being the top student in the entire school, Du Qin's reputation had long spread throughout the third grade.

Although they were not from Class 3, they all considered themselves part of Luohua Academy, so they all crowded around, eager to join in the excitement.

As a result, with each passing layer, the crowd grew stronger. By the time they exited the teaching building, it was already a massive crowd.

And as they walked downstairs, they finally got a clear view of the general's appearance. Whether it was from watching TV before or just now on the upper floor, it felt like there was a distance. But now that the person was within arm's reach, the students of Luohua Academy, for the first time in their lives, personally experienced the aura unique to a general.

With deep features, a high-bridged nose, light-colored eyes, and temples tinged with white, every movement he made exuded an incredibly daunting presence.

Even just meeting his gaze, they dared not to do so. The students who were just joking and laughing moments ago fell silent. Despite the hundreds of people present, the only sound that could almost be heard was their breathing.

General Lu also noticed the group of students. He approached and stood in front of the leading student.

"Hello."

Du Qin has always been calm and composed. But now, being approached by the man he had long admired, he felt a bit awkward. He pushed his glasses up and tried to suppress the excitement in his heart as he replied, "Hello."

Even though he tried his best, his voice was still barely audible, trembling slightly.

General Lu noticed this but didn't point it out. He smiled faintly and said, "I have a question for you."

Du Qin's friend became even more excited. Since General Lu initiated the conversation, it meant their earlier speculation must be correct. General Lu had come specifically to invite Du Qin to enroll!

Unable to contain his joy, he tightly grabbed his friend's shoulder.

General Lu seemed accustomed to the reactions of these young people and didn't pay much attention, proceeding to ask his question.

"Does your school have a student named Bai Yue?"
