Justin's POV:

As I woke up this morning, I could feel the pain just coursing through my veins, getting to places I never knew could hurt. That battle was the most intense thing I had ever been apart of. No wonder we always seek the peaceful route first. We lost a couple of our men but we still had the upper hand on Greenwood. All these thoughts pained me more than my battle scars.

I groaned in pain as I rolled out of bed to get a cup of coffee. The whole house was quiet. Oh wait, I just remembered Alaska was at Tristan's. I laughed to myself as I zombied myself downstairs. At the kitchen stove was my father, the Alpha, making his mate breakfast.

"Morning son," he grinned. "Don't laugh at me, someday you will be doing the exact same thing."

I smiled a weak smile and just laughed along. Never once have I ever told anyone my fear. I'm just afraid that I won't find my mate and I'd become a rogue. Tristan found his mate -even if it is my sister. Who knows where she is. If you know, please tell her to come home.

"Hello? Earth to Justin?" My mom laughed as she made her way into the kitchen. As she eyed the breakfast set before her, she finally spoke. "Do you think this will make me forgive you?"

"Well I was at least hoping it would help," my dad confessed as he put her plate in front of her. "Justin and I have the whole day with Greenwood's leftovers."

"Malcolm," my mother scorned. "They are people just as we are. They will not be considered 'leftovers' in MY house."

"Yes dear," my father smirked. He kissed her cheek then grabbed his jacket. "Well son, we don't have all day. Grab breakfast and get dressed. We have trials all day."

"Yay," I sighed as I grabbed some breakfast. "What exactly is trial? I've never heard of it and we've never done one before."

"That's because we never had to before," he sighed. "Peace between Greenwood and our pack had been around for generations. I will never know why he ever wanted to turn against us."

"Ok," I pushed on as he paused for a long period of time.

"Oh yes," he chuckled as he leaned against the breakfast bar. "So a trial is set for members of a pack who had been defeated in battle and survived. They will be judged accordingly and if they are considered dangerous to our community, they become rogues."

Wow. Who knew being trained to become Alpha would be so hard?

"And you will be handling the verdicts yourself," he smiled proudly though I'm sure I physically looked like I was to faint. "With my help of course."

Great Dad.

Alpha Malcolm's POV:

When Justin was ready, we headed over to the pack court. Tristan came running up to us as he was finishing tying his tie. As much as I loved this kid, I hated how Alaska's scent was always trailing on him. I had to realize though, she is his mate.

"Sorry I'm late sir," he smiled, weakly though. The battle, which had taken his father, had left him torn. "Alaska had made sure I got fed before coming over."

Justin slightly growled at the mention of his sister and it took all my strength to just smile. We all walked in the room as the guards each had their own roles in this case. The children were put in our adoption center and have been put on hold until we can clarify the rules here for them.

"Alpha," they all bowed respectfully as we sat down in the respectable places. Justin sat by me as Tristan sat by Justin. He was now Beta which meant Justin -whether he finds his mate now or not -will have to soon be anointed.

"Proceed," I slightly nodded.

"The first on trial is Elizabeth Parker." Guard Paul exclaimed. "The trial has now begun."

"Elizabeth Parker," Justin began. "Today we are discussing your fate. How do you plead?"

I held back a laugh as he said that. This isn't like the court trials you see on TV. Liz looked a little confused and so did some other members but nevertheless, she answered.

"I guess I plead not guilty?" She smiled. "I plead my case this way. I was the one who told you of Parkers plan. If it weren't for me, there would have been the casualties of many of your pack members... More than you lost. I'm sorry Tristan."

Tristan sat as still as stone but I knew that hit a sensitive nerve. He closed his eyes and slowly took deep breaths. When he was certain he was fine we continued.

"So I saved your city. In return, you saved my mate. I will subject to your laws and be a functioning member of your pack if I am allowed. With my mate of course."

What do you think dad? Justin asked. I could feel the stress and tension coming off Justin.

I believe she has earned our trust son.

Beta? Justin asked looking at Tristan.

I think she earned it. Even though she did try to worm her way between Alaska and I, it was just to save her mate.

"Liz Parker," Justin spoke as he nodded his head. "We have come to the decision that you and your mate, Omega Tom, can become park of the Riverwalk Pack."

Liz smiled as she and Tom were walked towards the benches and sat down. One down; More to go.

"Next on trial, Leo Baker, former Beta of Greenwood Pack."

"Yes sir," he lowered his head in respect. "And I am humbly asking to join your pack. The only reason I never left Parkers pack is because he had my father. He wouldn't let me forget how he had my father chained up."

"What have you done to prove your loyalty to our pack?" I asked. I then chuckled and looked at Justin. "Sorry, force of habit."

"Its fine father," he smiled back. "But you heard the Alpha. What proof do you have of showing loyalties to our pack?"

"Well one) I saved Beta Tristan and his mate from Chris as well as Liz. Two) as soon as I knew that you were here to help us out of Parkers hold, I had managed to get my father away from Parker's witch. And finally, I had tried to save your Beta's father. I caused as much damage as I could to save him but I was just too late. I wish I could have been there a bit earlier."

Tristan's jaw flexed as he was not enjoying this part if the trial. We all wish we could have been there in time to save him but he was just too outnumbered. I looked to Tristan to see what his judgment would be on this account. He just turned our way and gave a slight nod.

"Leo Baker, we have come to the decision that you may join our pack. Because of your loyalty that has been proven, you will remain in Beta position but always second in command to Tristan." Justin said with authority as he nodded to the guard holding on him.

"Thank you Alpha," he said, bowing his head in respect.

"Next on trial, Andre Parker. He is also on trial for the murder of Beta Trell."

        🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺

Tristan's POV:

The world started to spin as I saw that smug little mutt walk in. I'll have to thank Leo for all the damage done to him. His left eye had a swollen scar that looked extremely gruesome, he probably won't ever be able to see out of it again. He also had a noticeable limp and his arm in a sling.

"Andre will you plead guilty to the murder of Beta Trell?" Justin asked, anger in his voice.

"Well I did it if that's what you mean," he smiled smugly. "I messed up though."

"What does that mean," I growled leaning forward.

"I wasn't able to kill you all," he chuckled.

"Get this mutt out of our pack!" Some members began to shout.

"Quiet!" Justin shouted as he stood cowering over the court. "Alpha what is your ruling?"

In response, all Alpha did was nod. I had never seen this happen before. In addition to the anger I had felt towards this scumbag, I was also feeling terrified at the thought of seeing this. But as the saying goes, its like a train wreck; you can't look away.

"Andre Parker," Justin began. I noticed my hands begin to shake. This was actually happening. "I, Justin Riverwalk, Alpha of Riverwalk Pack, reject you as ever becoming a member of this pack and label you as Rogue."

The screaming was the first that began, which quickly became hysterical laughing. They had always said when they became rogue they lost all humanness about them, becoming a crazed wolf more than human. The change in him was instant and he was escorted out of the courtroom.

"That was intense," Justin whispered as he sat down. I just nodded in agreement. The rest of the trials were pretty easy, most becoming part of our pack. Then we came down to the final one, one I have been dreading making the decision of.

"The last to be tried today is Nani Young, witch of Greenwood." Guard Paul had brought her to the front and she was just as Alaska had always told me about. Almond shaped eyes and a heart shaped face, which was accentuated by her short black hair, making her look angelic. Something about her, however, struck me as odd, even recognizable. I just couldn't put my finger on it.

"I am here to humbly ask to be apart of your pack to be close with Alaska." She smiled. That smile left me a little uneasy but also with comfort, a mothers smile.

"Why should we allow that?" Justin scoffed. I shared that notion. She has no business being near my Alaska. Then her eyes flickered up in a smile of amusement.

"Because I am Inara Parker. Former wife and widow of Richard Parker. Mother of Elizabeth, Andre and Alaska Parker." She exclaimed as she moved forward.

"Guards!" Justin yelled. "Apprehend her!"

Then a bright light engulfed the room and I saw a vision of a wolf, the same as Alaska's as she ran straight to me, a smile on her face. She ran towards me and I felt as though she would jump on me but right when she was to jump on me, the flash was gone.

And so was Nani.
