10.The Begining of War

Alaska's POV:

The sickening feeling in my gut wrecked havoc on my body as I sat up in Tristan's bed. The war sound had sounded throughout our peaceful little hometown. Tristan stirred in bed and I held on to him. His body tensed as he realized what was happening.

"Alaska," he began. I just shook my head against his back.

"No," I sobbed. "No. Don't ruin this. Please."

"I need to protect you," he sighed as he turned around. He gently kissed my forehead as he lifted my head up. "I'm doing this for us."

"Please," I cried. He is my everything. "I love you."

"I love you," he sighed as he kissed me. This time, the passion was unbridled. He kissed me long, deep and lovingly. When we broke the kiss we were both breathless. "I will come back, I promise."

"Dad always told me don't make promises you can't keep," I cried hugging him. "Just..."

"I will try my best to return to you." He smiled, weaker than his usual confident smile. He was scared. "I have to go now."

"Run away with me," I attempted one last time. He froze, sitting in the bed. "Please. We could start our own pack. We can."

"We can't just leave your father and brother to battle without me and your support," he stood up. He walked around the room finding clothes he didn't mind shifting in. I walked up to him and hugged him, feeling his, tattooing his whole being in my mind and heart. "What are you doing hun?"

"Memorizing," I murmured my face in his back. "Committing your feel in my mind. Remembering how we are just standing naked in your room."

"Yes and how you are trying your hardest to keep me here," he sighed. "Alaska I am needed."

"I know," I sighed. "I'll be here for when you come back."

"That's my girl," he smiled, caressing the side of my face.

Oh how I love him.

Justin's POV:

The way all of my friends stood awaiting orders made this too real. I knew some would not be returning home. The feeling of their lives resting in my hands made bile rise up my throat. I felt uneasy and dizzy.

"Alpha?" My father asked, placing his hand on my shoulder. Even though I wasn't Alpha yet my father still gave me the title. "You okay son?"

"I-" I began. Yet I looked over to my men and realized I needed to appear calm in order they believe in me. Father, I am terrified. What do I do?

I'm sorry son, he shook his head. I had hoped you would never go through this. Yet we are the Alphas and we will do anything and everything to protect those we love.

I need your guidance, I had almost broke down. The stress is too much. Please help me.

Of course. He smiled.

"Alpha," Tristan had said making his presence known to us. I knew that Alaska was his mate but I just hated smelling her scent on him. "Where am I needed today?"

"Well Beta Thomas and you can help direct the third quadrant on the strategy we will follow." Tristan did a single nod. "Good."

"Father are we almost ready to attack?" My stomach was in knots. I had never actually battled anyone before.

"Almost but we are missing a couple of important pieces in our plan," he confessed his head shaking. "We know that they have a witch on their side. Whoever it is, we know the power they hold."

"Ok, so what do we do about that?" I asked, my nerves jumbled. I was already nervous about fighting another pack but they had a witch on their side.

"We have to infiltrate the place they have the witch settled," he said thinking out loud. "If we take her down, we'll be even."

"But how?" I asked. "They will know that we are from the opposing pack."

"I can help," I heard and my neck stood on end. "Please trust me."

"How can we Liz?" My fathered sneered. "How can we expect you're on our side?"

"Would you kill my mate?" She asked looking down. "If not, my loyalties are with you."

"You sure are a great actress, as you have proved," I snapped making her shrink back. "How do I know that there really is this mate?"

"Would I have told you if I didn't believe you?"

"I'll keep an eye on her," I heard another voice say. My heart almost stopped. "I'll follow her into Greenwood and we'll infiltrate the pack. You trust me right big brother?"

Alaska's POV:

I saw the terror in my father, brother and mates face. They all thought I was insane. Maybe I was. But I couldn't just sit at home and wait. Three of my most favorite guys are putting their life on the line for our packs safety -my safety. I couldn't just sit around and do nothing.

"No! Absolutely not!" Tristan yelled barreling towards us. Justin was quick to agree.

"You can't go out there!" He yelled, concern written all over his face. "You'll be killed!"

"You could be too but you're still goin!" I yelled back, not standing down. "I am also apart of the Alphas and will not back down from duties in this household!"

"Dad talk to her! She's crazy!!" He yelled walking agitatedly away from me. "Maybe you can talk some sense into her!"

"Dad I know I can do this," I begged. "Show me you trust me."

"Its not you I don't trust," he sneered looking past my shoulder. I heard Liz audibly sigh, defeat in her tone, but I was not easily shattered.

"You always called me your princess," I started. "Let me be the hero and save my own Kingdom. Show me you have enough faith in me to keep Greenwood thinking we are naïve to his plan. Please let me show you the warrior I can be."

My father stood still, his face unreadable. His eyes were the only window giving me a slight view of his thoughts. He was contemplating my plea. Justin noticed it too.

"Dad you're not considering it are you?" Justin was terrified of his answer and I was too but I knew I had to stand strong.

"If one thing goes wrong, you run," he sighed, his head lowering in defeat. "Leave that girl behind and get out of there."

"Of course," I said lowering my head in respect, "Alphas Riverwalk."

Then I began to walk off with Liz. Then I felt a hand grab my arm then j was spun around to face Tristan. The pain was evident in his eyes as his emotions were everywhere.

"Why? Why would you do that?"

"Same reason you did," I smiled a little hoping he would have been proud more than scared. "This is my pack. I am the daughter of the Alpha. And I need to go into battle alongside my pack."

"No you don't!" He cried as the tears fell. "I will never forgive myself if you get hurt or worse. Why couldn't you just stay home?"

"And be worried that you wouldn't come home? I couldn't leave you to battle and not go along."

"But-"

"What's with all the 'but'? Its done and I will come home," I smiled wiping his tears.

"Someone once told me don't make promises you can't keep," he said softly. I held his head enough to look in his eyes.

"I will be coming home and that's a promise I can keep. You just to do the same," I smiled. I kissed him on the lips softly and then smiled again memorizing his every feature. "See you later Tristan."

"See you later Alaska," he said hugging me tightly.

I never thought that I would be so scared and yet so strong willed. So Liz and I started our walk to Greenwood pack. About 15 minutes into the walk, Liz began to talk to me.

"Why?" She began.

"What's up with people always asking that after long pauses between them? Seriously, like, I have no idea what you were thinking so please -please -be more specific when asking questions," I smiled.

"Oh," she smiled nervously back. "Ok, then why did you step up for me?"

"I didn't," I said, not stopping or looking back when she stopped. "I'm doing this for my pack."

"Oh," she said upset.

"Oh you can't be upset at me for not jumping to be your best friend, because I already have an amazing best friend," I looked at her sideways. "And you did come to break my mate and I up after all."

"I know and I am sorry," she apologized. Again. "But wouldn't you do the same if you're mates life were in danger?"

I didn't say anything but she knew I would. Even if Tristan wasn't my mate, I would have done anything to make him mine. And Liz knew that too. For about 10 more minutes. Liz started up again.

"Alaska what are we going to do?" She was trying to be strong, I guess trying to prove herself to me, but her voice betrayed her. Then she just full on admitted it. "I'm scared."

"Does your father know we know?" I asked thinking of a plan.

"I think he might. He has been acting on edge lately," she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Since I couldn't stop Tristan from claiming you he hasn't wanted to see me."

I slowed my walking just a bit to see the rejection on her face. It pained me, even though I didn't want to seem like she was getting to me. She wiped the tears that escaped and walked a little closer to me.

"Ok here's the plan," I started. "If he doesn't know about our attack then we'll pretend to be best friends who are picking out your wedding dress and if he does know, you brought me to be given to your brother without me knowing."

Her mind seemed to wrap slowly around the plan until she finally nodded her head. We went over possible roadblocks and escape routes, if need be, along the way and we became solid in our plan. We kept trying to think of the worst possible scenarios and working our way out of them. We finally came to the Greenwood Pack entry.

Tristan, if you can hear me, were here at Greenwood. I love you and will do everything to protect you and to get home to you safely. I love you. Then Liz knocked on the door.
