Chapter Twenty Seven - One Last Ride

"Bri, please pick up, please pick up" The youngest O'conner begged into the phone with tears streaming down her mascara ruined face and her hands trembled as she held the phone to her ear "God damn it, just answer your pho-Brian?"

Sapphire had never been so happy to hear her brothers voice "Bri, I did something really bad but I didn't mean to, it was self defence. He was going to kill me" She rambled on.

"Hey, it's alright Saph. I'm just glad your okay. Now I need you to calm down for me and tell me where you are. Can you do that for me?" Brian asked as Sapphire nodded even though he couldn't see her.

"In our old house. Brian he's dead, I-i shot him. Please come get me" Her voice shook as she wiped her tears.

Previously on Sapphire O'conner. . .

Sapphire had managed to pick the lock on the door after Luke had locked it on his way out as she ran through the house she used to call home.

She didn't get very far when she heard footsteps behind her as she quickly turned around "No!" Sapphire cried "I'm done with you and your bullshit. Okay, I'm not going to Rome with you Luke"

"I know" Luke whispered as he shook his head "At first I didn't want to believe it but now I understand what you were trying to say. Your an adult now, you don't need me. But now I've got a problem because it's like, what do I do with you now?"

Sapphire bit her lip as tears welled up in her eyes "You let me go" It was almost like a whisper when she spoke.

Luke scoffed "Let you go? What just so you can call the police and get me arrested?" He walked towards her as his hands cupped her cheeks "I know what your like and now I don't know what to do with you sweetheart, what do I do?" He asked her as his hands went tightly around her neck, choking her. She couldn't breathe.

Her vision was starting to go while her hand starting feeling around for anything she could grab and that's when her hand hit a vase. Sapphire wasted no time in picking it up and smashing it over Luke's head.

She fell to the floor coughing, her hand going straight to her neck as she rubbed were his hands were. Looking at her father as he laid still on the floor, blood trickling down his head Sapphire leaned over to check his pulse and that's when she felt a hand grab her wrist.

Sapphire was now running though the house once more with Luke not far behind as he kept calling out her name. She got to the kitchen where she started rummaging through draws and cupboards, she needed something to protect herself and that's when she came across her gun.

The same gun she had brought with her to the warehouse to meet Deckard. Turning around to face her father just as she clicked the safety off of the gun "I will shoot you!" She threatened, her finger lingering on the trigger "Get back!"

"Your gonna kill me?" He let out a laugh "Like hell you would. It was always Brian that had to protect you when you were little because you couldn't even stand up to your own father" Luke taunted, taking a few more steps closer to the blonde "So what makes you think you can stand there, look me in the eye and pull that trigger"

BANG

The sound of a gunshot pierced through the room. Sapphire stared down at her father as tears ran down her already wet cheeks.

Her hands shaking as she put the gun back in the waistband of her pants before bending down to her fathers dead body "I'm done being scared of you"

Luke O'conner was dead and it was all down to his daughter, Sapphire O'conner.

"I'm all for winging it, but this is crazy man" Roman complained as the team, minus Brian and Sapphire, looked out at the city of Los Angeles.

"We got mercenaries with some real heat on us. I mean, I ain't scared or nothing, but. . .man, I don't even have a gun!"

"Gun?" Dom asked as he looked at Roman "We got a whole city"

"And we may have more than that. If they use God's Eye, it'll tap the cameras around the town to find our location. Which means we could plant a virus" Tej added.

Ramsey nodded "And then break in when they access it. So you're talking about hacking my hacking device. It's brilliant"

"Yeah, but there's one problem" Tej sighed "The signal strength. We can't start a hack on them until they're within a two mile range"

Letty frowned "That's really close"

"Close?" Roman repeated "These guys are military. If they're within two miles of us, we're already dead. I don't know about y'all, but I didn't really plan on dying today. And what about Saph, any news on her?"

Tej shook his head, looking down at his phone "Brian hasn't called yet and Rome, there's only one way to stay alive. And that's if we play keep away with Ramsey"

Ramsey turned her head to Tej "What?"

"They can't hit us if we keep moving" Tej added as Dom then stepped forward.

"And I'll take Shaw" He walked away from them and Letty followed him.

Tej nodded "So basically we're just gearing up for a big game of hot potato, huh?"

"And which car is the potato?" Ramsey asked.

"Girl, you are the potato" A hoarse voice said and everyone turned around to be greeted by Sapphire.

"Hi" She whispered into Tej's shoulder as he pulled her in for a bone crushing hug "Don't you ever do that to me again, you had me-you had us all worried"

She pulled away from the hug and gave him a weak but small smile "I know and I'm sorry. I just thought I could stop this you know? Guess I was wrong"

"Hey, you tried. That's all that matters" Brian said and everyone then hugged Sapphire. Brian hadn't mentioned what happened with her and Luke and she couldn't be more grateful for that.

"Thank you" She mouthed to her brother as she was pulled into a hug by Letty.

Brian sent her small nod knowing exactly what she thanking him for. Let's just say, no one will ever find out what really happened to Luke O'conner. It's like he just disappeared "So Tej, you got a citywide on that scanner?" Brian asked.

"Brian, let me tell you something. Don't ever doubt your boy. This is me you're talking to" Tej tried to lighten the mood and it made Sapphire realise, she was so lucky to have these people in her life.

As everyone then got ready to finish the job, Tej pulled Sapphire aside "You know you had me worried when I woke up and you weren't there" Tej said causing Sapphire to look up at him "Thought I'd lost you again"

"Well I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere" Sapphire told with a small smile "Ride or die right?"

Tej let out a small chuckle and nodded "I love you Sapphire"

She frowned "No, don't say that"

"What?"

"It's like your saying goodbye. Say something else"

Tej put his hands on her waist as he gently pulled her closer to him "Let's go on vacation when all this is over. We can go anywhere you want and we'll open a garage by the sea were people can come and not get completely ripped off"

Sapphire smiled and nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck "Can we get a dog? Let's get a dog"

Tej smiled before pulling her in for a kiss and she complied, pulling him closer "I missed that" He whispered as Sapphire pulled back slowly, her lips inches away from his "Me too" She whispered back before kissing him again.
