iii. . . " math class"

CHAPTER THREE !
"math class"

๐ŸŽธ .ย  .ย  . Christian Foster / Harding High

CHRISTIAN was mesmerised. He didnt even know why he found that girl so alluring but he did.

He was so glad that Emmy left by herself cause if she hadnt he would probably still be staring at her.

"How do you know her, Ry?" Chris asked his best friend.

Ryan scratches his neck. "she used to be my best friend. Alongside Dante."

The news hit him like a shocker.

"But enough about that." Ryan says. opening the common room door. "We have to win."

Chris nodded but he was still unsure why Ryan was so cold about the topic. But he let it slide.

He enters his dorm and plops onto the bed. "This will be a long year" he says sighing as a piece of paper slides under his door. It was the timetable with the lessons.

It had been altered to his preference. At least this school was considerate enough to listen to them.

He grabs his bag and books and leaves his room where everyone else from his school were discussing their classes.

"I have English first period." Sera says and takes out tbe English book. "Anyone else have English."

"Oh damn. I actually do." Travis says re reading his timetable for the fifth time still very confused.

"Here let me see." Sera says by Travis' side as his cheeks turn a shade of red.

"Ugh i have physics first lesson." Josie says dragging her voice.

Ryan smiles."Coincidence. So do I" Josie rolls her eyes as Ryan follows her.

"Great! No one has math first period." Chris says to no one in particular as he leaves the now empty common room.

He tries following the instructions Dante gave them but he ended up in the same place three times. "Ugh, i give up."

A teacher found him luckily and lucky for him it was the math teacher Mr. locke. He leads the way as the bell rings.

He was the last to enter as everyone else's eyes were on him except one girls'. And coincidentally the only place left was the one behind her.

As Christian settled into his seat behind the mysterious girl, he couldn't shake the feeling of curiosity that had gripped him since he first laid eyes on her. He glanced around the classroom, noting the familiar faces of his classmates, but his attention kept drifting back to her.

Emmy.

He didn't know much about her, only that she seemed to exude a certain confidence and allure that drew him in despite himself. But he couldn't let himself get distracted, not when there was a competition to win and a reputation to uphold.

The teacher, Mr. Locke, began the lesson, his voice droning on about algebraic equations and polynomial functions. Christian tried to focus, but his no luck.

Emmy,ย  seemed to be effortlessly grasping every concept Mr. Locke threw their way.

"Alright, class, let's solve this equation together," Mr. Locke said, scribbling a problem on the board.

Emmy's hand shot up almost immediately. "I think I know the answer, sir," she said confidently.

Christian couldn't help but be impressed. He leaned back in his chair, watching as Emmy confidently walked the class through the solution, her voice clear and concise as she explained each step.

As the lesson continued, Christian found himself stealing glances at Emmy whenever he thought she wasn't looking. There was something about her that intrigued him, something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

"Class please bring your rulers out." Mr.Locke said as he cleaned the board. "skip to page 21."

"shit, i didnt bring my ruler." Chris mutters under his breath.

Almost immediately Emmy brought her hand backwards holding a ruler to him but didnt say anything to him.

He couldnt help but smile.

After class, as the students began to filter out of the room, Christian hesitated for a moment before gathering his things and making his way towards Emmy's desk.

"Hey," he said, trying to sound casual as he approached her. "That was impressive back there. You really know your stuff."

Emmy glanced up at him, her eyes meeting his for the first time since he had entered the classroom. "Thanks," she said with a small smile. "I've always had a knack for math."

Christian nodded, feeling a strange sense of connection with her. "Yeah, me too. Well, sort of."

Emmy raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "What do you mean?"

Christian hesitated, unsure of how much he should reveal. "I mean, I've always been decent at math, but I've never been as... enthusiastic about it as you seem to be."

Emmy's smile widened, and Christian felt a flutter of something in his chest at the sight of it.

Christian couldn't help but grin.
Maybe this year at Alderidge wouldn't be so bad after all.

And if nothing else, he had a feeling that getting to know Emmy better would make it all worthwhile.

Even if they were supposed to be enemies. . .
