So here's a quick bio for my good friend, Chase Katsuya(not his real last name).

Zackary POV

Me, Yuya, Yuzu, Sora, Zander, Allie, and Tate were standing infront of Shūzo, ready to go to the Arc League Championship.

Shūzo: I knew you kids were talented, but who'd have guessed you'd all qualify for the ARC League Championship!?

Shūzo starts to tear up.

Shūzo: It's the proudest moment of my dueling career!  Let's bring it in, everybody!

Shūzo tries to go in for a hug but we all move out of the way, but, we all quickly move out of the way so he falls onto the ground.  Then someone runs him over with a bicycle.

Shūzo: Let's pretend that didnt happen.

Yuzu: Okay, I don't have a problem with that.

Allie: Shouldn't we be making a beeline for the arena?

Shūzo quickly gets back onto his feet.

Shūzo: Right you are, Allie.  But first let's have a quick refresher.  As you may remember, this championship will be sectioned off into three age brackets, beginning with the Youth Division.  That's where Tate and Allie are competing.  While Zackary, Yuya, Yuzu, Sora, and Zander are competing in the Junior Division.  Unless you've been asleep for the last decade, you know that these League Championships are a titanic deal!  Of course, all the top duel schools will be represented by their best and brightest, including the Leo Institute.  But there will also be incredible duelists from across the globe!  So this our is chance to show the world that You Show's duel training style of combat is the best.  You've all been terrific teamates to each other, but starting now it's gut-check time, and I want you to think of eachother as potential rivals.  Torch all your competitors!  Burn up the field!  Feed the flames!  Keep turning up the heat on your rivals till you reach victory in a blaze of glory!

We were starting to walk to the car but he just continued his spiel.  Once inside we buckled up and we were ready to roll.

Shūzo: Time for the You Show Express to get underway.  Onward to Victoryville.  There's no stopping us no.

Yuzu: Ahh!

Shūzo: What's wrong, Yuzu?

Yuzu: Sorry, dad, but we're one passenger short.

Shūzo: Who's missing?

We look over to where Yuya was supposed to be, but, he's not there.

Everyone: Where's Yuya?

Shūzo: Yuya!

We couldn't just wait around for him to show up, so, we decided to head to the Arc League Championship to see if would show up there.

*Timeskip*

Once we got there, we decided to search for Yuya.  We eventually ran into Aura and she used her fortune teller skills and told us that he was over on a bridge.  Yuya finally showed up after a few minutes.  Then a familiar voice called over to me.

???: Yo, Zackary!

I turn around to see Chase.

Zackary: Chase!?

Yuya: Who's this guy Zackary.

Zackary: This is my friend from back home, Chase Katsuya!

Chase: Yup!

Zackary: What are you doing here?

Chase: The Leo Institute flew me out to duel for them!

Zackary: But, that means we have a chance of dueling eachother. 

I smile.

Zackary: Wouldn't have it anyother way!

We put our hands together.

We let go of the other's hand and we hear the announcer.

Announcer: The opening ceremonies will kick off shortly!  All duelists, please take your places behind your team banners!

Zackary: Welp, I'll be seeing you later.

Chase: Right back at you.

*Timeskip*

We were just about to be introduced to the crowd.

Joy Jeever: Walking into the spotlight now are students from that small training facility for Dueltainers, the You Show School.

The crowd starts cheering.

Joy Jeever: This crowd has its radar screens tuned to You Show's Zackary Muto and Yuya Sakaki.  Their Pendulum Summoning has become the talk of the dueling world.  I expect we'll see them unleash it early on in this tournament.

3rd POV

All of the duelists were lined up.

Tournament Chairman: Greetings, Duelists.  You have battled hard to be here.  The fact that you stand before me now is proof that you are truly among the elite.  I know that in the coming days you will face the challenges ahead with distinction and dignity.

*Timeskip*

After the speeches, everyone found out who they were facing and weither they were dueling today or tomorrow.  The students of You Show dueling today, in order, are Allie, Tate, Yuzu, and Zander.  The students dueling tomorrow, in order, are Yuya, Zackary, and Sora.  But before Yuya is Gong.

First, Allie was facing off against a kid named Riley.  Even though Allie had an amazing start, she couldn't bring in the win.  Next was Tate, who managed take a good victory during his match.

Then, was Yuzu, who won by out smarting Julia and proving herself as a strong Fusion Summoner.  Then Zander, who battled against a guy he met apparently.  His name was like Johnny or something like that, but Zander took him out with ease.

*The Next Day*

For Gong's duel, Yuya wasn't there for most of it.  Gong was on the chopping block when Yuya came back with his sash.  And Gong made an amazing comeback against this Grizzlepick guy.

Next up was Yuya facing off against Sylvio, the latter of which revealed his newfound ability of Pendulum Summoning.  While this threw Yuya off for a bit, he was still able to take the win.

Next up was the battle between best friends, Zackary vs Chase.

Zackary POV

I went to go prepare for my duel with Chase.  I was looking through my old deck and put my Pendulum Cards into my new one.

I put on the jacket Zander gave me and started to head to the battle field.

3rd POV

Nico: Now introducing, a surprise guest brought in by the Leo Institute, Chase Katsuya.

Chase runs onto the field waving his hands on the air.

Nico: And the You Show School's master of Pendulum, Fusion, and Ritual Summoning, Zackary Mutou.

Zackary walks onto the field with a smile on his face.

Nico: The Action Field that will be accompanying this duel is the Action Field, Duelist Kingdom.  Of course a reference of where they last dueled on record.

Zackary: You guys ready for the biggest show of your lives.

Chase: Where two competitors face off in a heated battle of wits.

Zackary/Chase: But this battle will be extra heated.  Because when best friends face off there's no holding back!  Let's Duel!

Zackary LP: 4000
Chase LP: 4000
Turn 1: Zackary

Zackary: I'll start this off by summoning Alpha the Electromagnetic Warrior!

Alpha the Electromagnetic Warrior: ATK/1700 DEF/1100 Lvl:3

*On the Side*

Yuzu: He's never played that card before.

Yuya: I guess that's one of his new cards.

*Back to the Duel*

Zackary: I set one card and end my turn, your move.

Turn 2: Chase

Chase: Draw!  I send my Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my hand to the graveyard so I can Special Summon, Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon!

Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon: ATK/2400 DEF/2000 Lvl:7

*On the Side*

Sora: A level 7 monster on the first turn.  It seems that this guy is better than I thought.

Yuya: Yeah, and he didn't even have to use a spell or Pendulum Summon to do it.

*Back to the Duel*

Chase: I'll set a monster facedown and attack your Alpha!

Zackary, instead of trying to go for an Action Card allows his monster to be destroyed.

Zackary LP: 4000 --> 3300

Chase: I end my turn by setting a card.

LP Check: Zackary: 3300, Chase: 4000
Turn 3: Zackary

Zackary: Draw!  Yes, since I drew Palladium Oracle Mahad, I can reveal it and Special Summon it to the field.  Which is what I'll do!

Palladium Oracle Mahad: ATK/2500 DEF/2100 Lvl:7

Zackary: Now I summon Obnoxious Celtic Guard!

Obnoxious Celtic Guard: ATK/1400 DEF/1200

Zackary: Mahad, destroy his Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon!  And since your Red-Eyes is a Dark monster Mahad's ATK doubles during the damage step!

Chase: I activate my trap card, Red-Eyes Spirit!  Which allows me to bring one Red-Eyes monster back from my graveyard!  Welcome, my dragon with fierce eyes, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!

Red-Eyes Black Dragon: ATK/2400 DEF/2000

Chase: But it doesn't say that it negates your attack or anything.

Palladium Oracle Mahad: ATK/2500 --> 5000

Chase LP: 4000 --> 1400

Zackary: Obnoxious Celtic Guard, attack Chase's facedown.

Chase: That was Red-Eyes Baby Dragon.  And when it's sent to the graveyard by battle I can Special Summon 1 level 7 or lower Red-Eyes monster.  I choose Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon!

Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon: ATK/2400 DEF/2000 Lvl:7

Chase: And since I did that I can equip Red-Eyes Baby Dragon from the graveyard to the monster I chose, then that monster gains 300 ATK.

Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon: ATK/2400 --> 2700

Yuya: Anything Zackary does, Chase just counters with ease!  So cool!

Sora: I thought you were rooting for Zackary.  Anyway, even with Chase countering, can't get past Mahad's effect.

*Back to the Duel*

Zackary: I end my turn.  It's your time in the spotlight now!

Chase: Draw!  Perfect!  I activate Red-Eyes Fusion!  Using the Red-Eyes Black Dragon on my field and the Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning in my deck, I Fusion Summon, Archfiend Black Skull Dragon!

Archfiend Black Skull Dragon: ATK/3200 DEF/2500 Lvl:9

Chase: Now, my Archfiend Black Skull Dragon will destroy your Mahad!  And the best part is thanks to its effect Mahad's ability can't be used until the end of the damage step.

Archfiend Black Skull Dragon burned Mahad to ash.

Zackary LP: 3300 --> 2600

Chase: And Black Flare Dragon will get rid of your Celtic Guard!

Zackary LP: 2600 --> 1300

Zackary: It's getting pretty close.

Chase: Yes, it is.  I end my turn.

LP Check: Zackary: 1300, Chase: 1400
Turn 4: Zackary

Zackary closes his eyes and breathes in and out.

Zackary: Draw!  I activate Monster Reborn!

*On the Side*

Sora: I wonder what his plan is here.

Yuya: Yeah.  Even if he brings Mahad back it wouldn't be useful because of Archfiend Black Skull Dragon's effect.

Gong: So what your saying is, there's no way Zackary can win.

Yuzu: We can't lose hope for him yet guys, we still have to cheer him on 'til the very end!

*Back to the Duel*

Zackary: Well, Yuya, I wasn't planning to bring back Mahad!  Monster Reborn also allows me to bring back a monster from Chase's graveyard.  Now the crowd might be thinking, "Nothing in Chase's graveyard would be useful to me either", well that's where you'd be wrong!  'Cause the monster I'm choosing is Red-Eyes Black Dragon!  With Red-Eyes, I can activate the spell card Polymerization!  Fusing together Chase's Red-Eyes Black Dragon and my Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning in my hand!

Everyone in the audience gasp.

Chase: Your planning on summoning the same monster I have.

Zackary: Yup!  I Fusion Summon, my very own Archfiend Black Skull Dragon!

Chase: But why?  Even if you destroy mine, Black Flare Dragon will take you out.

Zackary: Oh but I'm not done.  I activate Pot of Greed!  Which means I can draw 2 cards.  Now I activate Dark Magic Curtain!  By paying half my life points I can get out my ever faithful companion, the Dark Pendulum Magician!

Zackary LP: 1300 --> 650

Dark Pendulum Magician: ATK/2500 DEF/2100 Lvl:7

Zackary: Still not even close to done with my turn!  I activate The Eye of Timaeus, which let's me target one Dark Magician monster I control and Fusion Summon a monster that lists the targeted Dark Magician monster and use Eye of Timaeus as one of the Fusion Material!  I Fusion Summon, Dark Paladin!

Dark Paladin: ATK/2900 DEF/2400 Lvl:8

Zackary: Dark Paladin's effect activates!  For every Dragon monster on the field or in the graveyard Dark Paladin gains 500 ATK.  Now theres one Dragon on my field.  And there's two Dragon's on your field and three in your graveyard.  That's 6 x 500, which is 3000.

Dark Paladin: ATK/2900 -- 5900

Zackary: Now, Archfiend Black Skull Dragon, destroy Black Flare Dragon!

Chase LP: 1400 --> 900

Zackary: Dark Paladin, attack his Archfiend Black Skull Dragon, and end this duel!

Dark Paladin slices Chase's Archfiend Black Skull Dragon in a million pieces.

Chase LP: 900 --> 0

Nico: And with that, Zackary Mutou is the winner!

Zackary walks up to Chase and helps him up.

Zackary: That was a great duel.

Chase: Yeah.  But our time in spotlight is over, it's now time for your teammate Sora to wow the crowd.

Zackary: Right.

Little did they know, in that duel they would learn something they never could have expected.
