Kanzaki Aoi x Male Reader Angst

Requested by: idrinkmilkshakes

Summary: Aoi had loved you from the moment she'd met you.  However, from anyone who'd met you, it was clear you'd never felt the same.  Anyone who'd met you would easily be able to tell you were in love with Kanao.

Kanzaki Aoi sighed in annoyance when her eyes met the pair of demon slayers giggling and laughing a out some joke one of them had told.

She made it seem as if her annoyance stemmed from Y/N having to do training, and sent him back the direction he should have been.

Making her own way back to the kitchens, Aoi was painfully aware of the sad gaze of her adoptive sister boring into her back.

Good.  Let her feel sad.

Kanao already had enough: she was Kanae's favorite, she was currently Shinobu's favorite, and she was on her way to becoming a Hashira.  She didn't need anything else in life.

Aoi deserved something.  She hadn't been blessed with talent like the Slayers, but at some point she has to get something from the God's to make up for her inadequacy.

Y/N would end up with Aoi.  She would make sure of that.

She almost succeeded in getting what she wanted too.  Had the very boy she'd been trying to get to love her not walked in at the wrong time, she would have.

She had fed Kanao a sleeping agent with her dinner, and when she inevitably had to go to bed, Aoi followed close behind.  As Kanao slipped into unconsciousness, Aoi pushed the pillow into her face.

With the drug coursing through her veins, there was no resistance from Kanao as her air supply was cut off.  Aoi remembered the lessons she'd been taught by Shinobu, and counted out the minutes.  At most she only had ten minutes until Kanao kicked the bucket.

She had gotten to four minutes, only about one more until irreversible brain damage occurred, when the love of her life walked in on her.

As one would expect from a demon slayer, he recovered quickly, and tackled Aoi to the ground.  Though it was unintentional, he ended up smacking her head off the floor so hard she passed out.

When she came to, her fate had been decided.

Execution.

She was beheaded, as was custom of the demon slayers, and her eyes sought out Y/N as she died, his hatred clear to her even from a distance.

Even as the sword swung down, she never looked away.  Only when her head hit the ground did Y/N get peace, no longer having to bear the weight of her unrequited love.
