the rain began to pour down when we entered the taxi. beck and i waved goodbye to lucas and connor as the cab pulled away. i could hear the thunder in the distance, followed by a strike of lightning. i took a deep breath in and out, reassuring myself that there was nothing to be afraid of.

before i knew it, the taxi arrived at beck's apartment. another streak of lightning shot down from the sky, lighting up the entire interior of my cab. "night love!" beck yelled, rushing into her apartment.

my nerves spiked as another crash of thunder filled the dark city. but my thoughts were interrupted by chris's name coming up on my phone screen. i rushed to answer the call, sighing a heavy sigh of relief.

"hello?" i answered, exhaling.

"hey! you alright?" he asked, concerned.

"oh yeah um-" another clap of thunder cut me off, causing me to jump. "just on my way home."

he spoke, "are you in a storm?"

"well..it is raining a little bit. okay, it's raining a lot." i giggled nervously.

"jae, are you scared?" chris asked.

"psht.. me? scared? yeah right." i spoke confidently. as soon as i said those words, a clash of lightning and thunder came from the sky causing me to sink down into the seat of the cab. i ran my hands through my hair, exhaling lightly.

i could feel his pout through the screen, "you don't have to act so brave all the time. you know that, right? you can open up to me."

"ah i don't know what you're talking about, chris." i sighed, but lightning struck again. "ugh." i murmured lightly.

"jae.." the dark haired boy whispered. "talk to me, please?"

my cheeks flushed, he sounded so perfect. "ahhh fine, yes i'm afraid of storms."

"i knew it. now, babygirl." he began.

"fuck."

i could hear him giggle with pride, "mm you like that?"

"shh let's keep it pg, what were
you saying?" i sighed, giggling back at him.

"hm fine, now what was i saying..?"
