"Again, this is ridiculous!" Maddie huffs out as Kelly continues to grip his hand in hers as they walk towards the firehouse. It would've been easy if Maddie didn't keep on digging her heels into the concrete.

"Quite being stubnorn, Maddie." Kelly tells her, his eyes forward.

Maddie rolls her eyes. "Detective Voight said 'be extra cautious'. He didn't say imprison your wife inside a firehouse."

"This is being cautious."

Maddie groans in frustration. Ever since last night where she had revealed to Kelly that she had encountered Adrian Gish on more than one occasion, he became more than extra cautious. That night when they were getting ready for bed, Kelly had checked the locks on the door more than once.

They enter the firehouse and make their way to Kelly's office. The couple remained silent though they still held hands. It was as if Kelly needed to in order to remind himself that she was still there.

"Matt!" Maddie calls out as she sees Matthew Casey walks out from his office, casually sipping his cup of coffee. The blonde firefighter turns his head to the sound and sees the Severides stop in front of him. "Help! I'm being kidnapped!"

Matt looks between the two spouses and raises his eyebrows. "You're being kidnapped. . .by your loving husband?"

"Yes!" Maddie exclaims as she wriggles out of Severide's grasp. "Tell him he's being unreasonable."

Matt looks to his best friend for an explanation. "The police think Adrian Gish is after her so I brought her to the firehouse just in case."

"Ah. . ." Matt says and slowly walks away, "Sorry, Maddie, but you're on your own for this one!"

As Matt disappears and Kelly walks into his small office, Maddie grumbles and crosses her arms over her chest. "Kelly Benjamin Severide, I can't stay cooped up in this firehouse all day! I have paintings to finish and people to talk to."

In response to this, Kelly merely shakes his head. A hand runs over his clenched jaw and he meets her furious eyes. He couldn't help but still see Shay in his Maddie. Shay and Maddie were both so different from the way they talked to the demons living in their heads. However, one thing remained common: his protectiveness over the two girls.

He couldn't protect Shay; this was why Kelly needed to make sure nothing happened to Maddie. He didn't want to lose another important person.

"No." Kelly decides and turns his back.

"No?!" Even if he wasn't facing her, he could just imagine Maddie's foot stomping and her eyes narrowed as she stared daggers into the back of his head. "What the hell, Kelly? Don't be that kind of husband!"

This makes Kelly stand up straighter and face her. He too had anger in his eyes and a clenched jaw with the water bottle in his hand making noises as he gripped it tighter and tighter. "You mean the kind of husband that wants to keep you safe and alive?!"

"No! The kind of husband that thinks he can just keep his wife inside a firehouse like some animal. God forbid your wife doesn't cower behind you!" Maddie retaliates as she walks closer to him.

"You should stay behind me when a freaking arsonist has a target on your back, Madeline!"

Maddie groans in frustration and runs her angry hands through her hair. "For the last time, I'll be fine—"

Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3, vehicular accident.

"Stay here." Kelly begs and adds, "Please."

"Fine." Maddie agrees, defeated.

As he walks away, Maddie follows him. She hurriedly takes a hold of his wrist just as Kelly was walking out the door where his fellow firefighters were suiting up for the call.

It had occurred to Maddie that her husband was yet again going out and risking his life for other people-a thought that was always in the back of her mind that terrified her (yet it was one of the many traits that attracted her to Kelly).

"Come back in one piece, okay?" Maddie pleads, her eyes void of anger and full of worry. "We're not done yet."

"Of course." Kelly assures her with a strong nod and careful kiss on her cheek. He was just glad his wife hadn't flinched away.

Maddie feels the quick presence of warm and familiar lips until what's left of it were just tingles. He's out and suiting up and inside his truck and ready to save the day with his Lois Lane watching in worry as they drive away.

Maddie couldn't help but feel bored inside the firehouse.

While Firehouse 51 were still out, Maddie had cleaned Kelly's office, cooked lunch enough for a whole country, and even fed Pouch. They were gone a whole forty-five minutes so you couldn't blame her if she was little bit productive.

Sensing her phone vibrating with a message, she pulls it out from the pocket of her jeans and almost jumps with joy at the message.

FROM: UNKNOWN NUMBER
Good day, Miss Cojuangco! This is the Public Relations Officer for the Art In Every Day event. We would like for you to come over the gallery since there is an extra space for two more of your paintings. Please reply within an hour. Thank you!

Of course, she agreed and replied.

How couldn't she? More space for her paintings meant more gigs and she needed those in order to keep the money coming in.

"Connie?" Maddie calls out to the firehouse's secretary, "I'm heading out for an errand. Tell Kelly I'll be back in an hour."

Connie could only hum a reply as the young painter dashed out of the firehouse, excitement bouncing off of her.
