The Attack

Marcus's POV

I woke up with Niomi in my arms. She nuzzled her head into my bare chest. She looked exhausted. As lovely as it was living here, we all missed the comfort of home. I slowly got up, not to wake her and took a shower.

I grabbed some Greek yoghurt and muesli from the huge fridge and ate every last grain. Zoe came in and made us both a cup of tea.

"How's Niomi coping," Zoe asked me,

"She's a bit confused as to what's happening. But I think that's just the shock.." Zoe nodded at what I said, we drank up. Alfie came in a few minutes later and made himself a smoothie.

"This place is gorgeous," he said looking up to the ceiling and around the room. Me and Zoe nodded.

"I just want to go home, it doesn't feel right knowing your getting this luxury because someone's out to kill you..." Said Caspar as he walked in.

There was a rumbling sound from above. We couldn't tell whether it was a storm or not as there was no windows. Alfie took Zoe to calm down as she doesn't like storms.

I went up to get Niomi. When I walked in she was doing her makeup.

"Morning sleepy," I said to her, I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her. We walked hand in hand downstairs and I took her to the kitchen.

"Anything madam would like to drink?" I said in my best French accent.

"Oui, au cafè," she said giggling.

"Say Whaaa-" I said laughing at her. She smiled. For the first time in a while she'd smiled.

"Coffee! Duh!? Oh... and a croissant too!" I laughed and prepared Niomi's food. She sat down at the breakfast bar and I handed her the food.

There it was again. That rumbling sound... And again... It was getting louder each time. Suddenly there was an explosion and the lights went out. I grabbed Niomi's hand and ran towards the door, pulling her along. The bodyguards that were guarding the door had been shot and were laying in pools of blood on the floor.

Niomi screamed and cuddled closer to me. It was like some kind of sick horror film. I pounded on the door, it surprisingly opened.

Outside was the fleet of cars we'd arrived in. Me and Niomi got in one and I went to start the engine. The keys weren't there!? I realised that my mum, Fran, Niomi's parents and her brother Jake were all still inside. I pulled Niomi by the hand again and we went back inside.

The house was a wreck. There was so much soot and dust that we couldn't see a thing.

Niomi's POV,

I tugged at Marcus's arm.

"Everyone will be okay, we just need to run." I shouted. Marcus nodded and we pelted it to the house gates. We helped each other over and started running down a country lane.

It was now around 2.00pm (guessing by the placement of the sun) we'd managed to reach a town. I was a fluent French speaker so I asked a local shop keeper to help me phone the police.

She handed me a handset and I dialled the polices number.

"Hello, this is the French police service how..." I cut her off.

"My name is Niomi Smart, um I've just escaped from a bombed building, I'm currently in hiding from Jack and Finn Harries." I heard a few keyboard clicks and  then she replied.

"We've called the French Army, the rest of your friends will be okay. Could you please tell me your location, so we can send an armoured car to take you to our head quarters."

I looked over to the woman who owned this shop. "Le Turne," I nodded and repeated that to the officer. She scribbled down something.

"Okay, someone will be on their way, don't get in the car unless it's number plate is SFR8 RD14," I thanked her and hung up. As soon as she was gone I burst into tears. Marcus came over and cuddled me.

"Nims, your so brave, just hang in there," my mind was racing with thoughts. Mum. Dad. Jake. Zoe. I just wanted everyone to be okay.

The exact car that the officer had described arrived and me and Marcus got in. We sat there huddled next to each other for the whole journey. No one spoke.

I looked up to Marcus and saw a single tear fall from his eye. He was so brave.

He saw me looking and wiped it away. He smiled at me and whispered.

"We can get through this,"
