Part 1

(Characters will be introduced, very important chapter!)

"Are you kids ok?" My mother asks Warner and I.

"We're fine. Thanks, mom!"

"Thank you, Mrs. Bradford. And dinner was fabulous," Warner says politely.

"It's no problem. You two have a goodnight!"

My mom leaves my room and I plop down on my bed next to Warner. Ok, so I may have invited him over for a sleep over. I know what you're thinking, but since meeting, Warner and I have become great friends. He's genuine, kind, super funny, and for the first time, I actually feel like I can fully trust him. We even have matching pajamas. Silk pink zebra print, super cute!

"Can I ask you a question?" He asks me.

"Sure," I answer.

"What changed? You know I love you, but you weren't my biggest fan in the beginning."

"It wasn't that I didn't like you, I just... thought you were crazy," I state truthfully. "But, I was wrong. I've been here for two years, and I haven't met anyone who I've clicked with, atleast not enough to invite them to a sleepover at my house. It's just hard, you know? I went from having my best friends back at home, to moving countries in the middle of high school. Don't tell them, but the friends I've made here are just, I don't know... Different. It's been so hard to adjust. Of course I'd never tell my mom this, because for the first time in a long time, she is really happy. She's different from when she was with my father, and I won't ever ruin that for her."

"Oh hun, I had no idea. I knew you were from California, but I never thought about how hard that has to be, to have to start a brand new life in a totally different place. I know we have this plan to win big on the show, but I want you to promise me to also make memories. This is your summer, and you deserve to make some unbelievably great memories here in Canada."

"Deal! ... but I'm still winning that money," I say with a smile.

"Oh, of course! That was never a question!"

We laugh and talk all night until we drift off to sleep. Warner is right! I deserve this. Yes this is a competition, but I can still have fun. It's going to be great! 8 weeks on a luxurious island doing challenges and hanging out?

This is going to be a peice of cake! What can go wrong?

...

"Do you have the pocket knife I gave you?" My grandmother asks.

"Yes, Grandma."

"What about your inhaler?" My mom asks.

"Of course, mom."

"Are all of your outfits color coordinated? You know, your clothes matching your shoes is important since you'll be on national television!" Warner warns me.

"Yes, now will you guys stop worrying about me? I have everything I need to survive these eight weeks, I'll be fine."

"You know I worry, honey," my mother says. "You're not going to be with me or your father this time, you're going to be all by yourself and I just-"

"I know, mom. But if anything goes wrong, I can always forfeit and come back home."

"Which you're not going to do because we are winning this thing, baby!" Warner yells excitingly.

I roll my eyes jokingly. Today is the day, if you couldn't tell. In a few hours, I will be in front a bunch of cameras meeting the Chris McLean and 22 other campers! Am I nervous? Heck yeah! But I can't let them know that. It already took a lot to get my mom comfortable enough with the idea. Warner on the other hand isn't worried a bit since we've been training for weeks. Since I made the show, Warner has been training me non stop. I'm talking protein shakes, morning runs, evening gym sessions, I was put on a vegan regime, and I even started walking to my babysitting jobs. And honestly, I feel amazing! I didn't do this to lose weight, if that's what you're thinking. I needed to prepare my body for the challenges we're going to face.

I hear a car horn from behind. Oh, my cab is here. Here goes nothing! I clutch my suitcases and prepare myself for the journey. Warner said I need to make a statement, so my luggage is matched with outfit. I have on a pastel pink active wear outfit, with a pair of chocolate brown shoes that match my suitcases. The chocolate brown matches my hair while the pastel pink is my personality, whatever Warner said. And the best part? My shoes have a suitcase all to themselves!

"Well, that's my cue. How about a hug for the road?"

The three of them approach me and we share one last hug, my mom holding on the longest. Ok, this is it. I'm going to be on national television. Most importantly, this could be the beginning of everything. If- when I win that money, I'm going to go on to fund my dream company, and Warner's dream of being a reality star will finally come true. Let's do this!

"Good luck, sweetie!" My mom says as she waves goodbye.

"Go kill 'em, California!"

"And get a boyfriend while you're at it!" My grandma yells to me from the driveway.

...

"Yo, we're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario. I'm your host, Chris McLean, dropping season one of the hottest reality show on television right now. Here's the deal, twenty-two campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp, they'll compete in challenges against each other then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers. Every three days, one team will either win a reward or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame, take a ride on the loser boat, and leave Total Drama Island for good. Their fate will be decided here at the dramatic campfire ceremonies where each week all but one camper will receive one marshmallow. In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame and a small fortune, which let's face it, they'll probably blow it in a week. To survive, they'll have to battle black flies, grizzly bears, and disgusting camp food."

...

I can't believe I'm up next!

Right now I'm on a boat on my way to meet Chris McLean and win that one hundred thousand dollars! I've been watching the other contestants being introduced, and I am so excited to meet everyone, though I am nervous because some of them don't seem so nice, like that Heather chick... But that's ok! I don't have to be friends with everyone, and my main focus is winning that prize money! And no snobby mean girl is going to ruin that. I mean, am I upset that the luxurious island I'm suppose to be on for 8 weeks is actually some run down piece of dirt that looks like it's about to drop into the ocean forever? Yes, I'm actually quite furious about it. HOWEVER, I signed a contract, so I might as well get over it now. Besides, how bad can it actually be? It's not like any of us are going to die or get seriously hurt, right? ...

Right?!

...

"Ma'am, we're here," one of the crew members tell me.

"Ok, thank you!"

I breath in deeply and make my way outside. And look at that, there's a camera. I hope I look ok. Ok, I'm fine. Me and Warner have been over this a thousand times. I am here to win. I'm going to make a name for myself, and Warner of course, and I'm going to win that prize money.

There's Chris, how exciting!

"Introducing, Ms. Malibu!" He introduces with the most charming smile that could melt butter.

"Hi, Chris! What's up?"

"You're far from home, aren't you? You aren't going to get homesick on us now, are you?" He asks with a smile.

"Nope, I've been here long enough to know I've got this," I say confidently.

I walk over to stand with the other contestants. I wave at everyone, and some return the gesture with a smile, some didn't. I can't believe I did that! I'm on television in front of Chris McLean, and I didn't even throw up! This is going to be easy... I think.

"Ew, did Elle Woods throw up on you?" one asks me with a grimace, referring to my pink and brown ensemble.

This must be Heather. I watched her introduction while I was on the boat waiting for my turn. She's super tall with jet black hair down to her waste, pin straight. She could be a model, she's like a raven haired Rapunzel, she's gorgeous... And a total b*tch.

She doesn't scare me... Ok, maybe a little, but I can't let the viewers know that, or my teammates. If they found out that they have a scaredy cat on their team, they'll vote me off for sure.

"Actually, yes! I love "Legally Blonde," how'd you know?" I ask with a smile.

"I like the pink. Looking good, gorgeous," the dude standing next to her says to me with a smirk.

I remember him. Duncan is his name. He's hot, like, really hot... Super hot. I'm such a sucker for piercings.

"Get a boyfriend while you're at it!" I remember my grandma saying.

Shut up, Grandma! Get out of my brain!

"Thank you," I say with a smile. "And I like your... Piercings."

He gives me a cool smile, and Heather rolls her eyes as she crosses her arms. Oh, I get it, she's miserable. She'll probably make it far in this competition... but she won't win, I'll be doing that.

"Hi, I'm Beth," another introduces herself nicely.

"And I'm Dj!"

"Nice to meet all of you!"

The boat approaches and drops off another contestant. Interesting. He's linky with red hair, a goofy t-shirt on, and has a five o'clock shadow. He clutches a keyboard in his hand for some reason, and he does nothing but sit there and stare into nothing as he breaths loudly through his mouth.

"This place can't get any worse," the other girl huffs.

"Right?" I agree while observing the island. "I'm trying to look on the bright side of everything, but this place is a real dump."

"You can say that again," she agrees. "Name's Gwen."

"Mal," I introduce myself with a smile, and we shake hands.

I love her style. Her clothes are so cute! A little too dark for my taste, but she still looks fabulous. And the blue bangs contrast really well with the rest of her jet black hair.

"Contestant number ten is Trent," Chris announces.

Hey, he's cuteee.

"Hey, good to meet you, man. Saw you on that figure skating show. Nice work, man," Trent says nicely.

"Hey, thanks, man! I knew I rocked that show!"

Trent walks over to us, and when we make eye contact, he smiles at me, which I return.

"Hi, I'm Malibu! Nice to meet you," I greet politely.

"Hey! Nice name, Malibu," he replies.

He stands between me and Gwen and I see him give her a flirty smile. Oh, he so likes her! She acts like she hates it, but I see her cheeks heat up as she quickly turns away. She definitely likes him! I think they can be cute together. I like Gwen, but if she and Trent get together, there's always the possibility of them both getting distracted and losing this competition. Which is great for me!

Next the boat drops off a blonde girl carrying a surf board. I have to watch out for her. She seems nice, but she already seems like a favorite. The guys are looking at her like she's a walking piece of steak. Plus, she seems really athletic, but so am I, so maybe it won't be so bad.

"Our surf chick, Bridgette is here."

"Nice board. This ain't Malibu, honey," Duncan scoffs.

"Leave her alone," I tell him and roll my eyes. "I think your board is awesome, Bridgette."

"Thanks, uh..."

"Malibu," I introduce myself.

"Malibu, cool!" She says with a smile.

"Hey, I'm Geoff," he says cooly and gives her a flirty smile.

Ok, cool! He's flirting with her. I'm not saying they'll lose if they get into a relationship together, but if they're too distracted with each other, then there's still a good chance they'll get too distracted and get themselves voted off. Never say never.

"Okay, we've met Surfer Girl. Can we get on with the show, please?" Heather nags.

"Someone missed their cappuccino macchiato this morning," Duncan laughs.

"Get bent. You must have confused me with Michael over there."

"My name is Malibu, Leather."

She looks at me and scoffs. Well that takes care of that. I guess someone can't handle the heat.

A contestant by the name of Noah joins us. He kind of reminds me of Warner, except he's a lot more snooty. I don't think he's much competition, I don't think he even wants to be here. After Noah comes Leshawna.

"What's up, y'all! Leshawna's in the house."

Harold gasps. I'm sorry, but those two? Leshawna is gorgeous, and Harold is..- but as a couple, they'd be odd.

"Yo, baby, hey how you doing? How's it going?" She greets everyone. As she passes Chris, him and her high five.

"Feel free to quit now, save yourself the trouble 'cause I came to win! Oh what's up, my brother?" She says to DJ and they high five.

"What's up, sis? Give me some sugar, baby!" she says to me, and we first bump.

"Hey, girl!" I welcome her nicely.

"I've never seen a girl like you before," Harold says.

"What's that suppose to mean?" I ask on her behalf.

"I've got this, California," she says to me and then turns back to Harold. "Excuse me?"

"You're real big, and loud," Harold answers.

Leshawna seems like a good time, and I like her. Though I am worried, she's obviously confident. She also reminds me of Warner. Their attitude that is. I admire it. I just hope I can somehow beat it.

We all watch as Bridgette and Duncan hold her back from beating Harold to a pulp. I might as well count this as an elimination, only Harold isn't getting voted off, Leshawna is just going to kill him.

"All right, campers, settle down!" Chris says.

Leshawna calms down, and Harold only smiles at her. Next arrives two girls in matching outfits. O. M. G, they're so adorable!

"Ladies, Sadie, Katie, welcome to your new home for eight weeks."

"Oh my gosh, Sadie, look. It's a summer camp!" Katie exclaims.

"Okay, I always wanted to go to a summer camp. Eeeeeee!"

The girls grab their bags and run happily over to the rest of us.

"Love your outfits," I compliment.

"Thanks!" they say at the same time.

"And we love your pink!" Sadie says.

"Yeah," Katie agrees. "It's like, Bratz meet 'Legally Blonde.' Super cute!"

I'm not too worried about them. They're cute, but I'm afraid their friendship with each other is going to get in the way of them competing as individuals. It seems as though they're inseparable. Which is fine, if this wasn't a competition where only one wins.

So far, so good. I can do this!
