Chapter 1 : Transfer.

It was the start of the school year. Year 3 of high school to be specific. A part of me wanted to be excited, to try and make things better for myself this year. But I was still a bit nervous when I remembered my past school years. Even if I don't make any new friends, I'm going to try and get better grades. It's the least I could do.

I checked the clock which read 7:26 AM. Good, I still have plenty of time to get ready and get to school. I put on my uniform that I had bought the week before. The school for some reason had changed the uniforms. I straightened my hair, added a black headband, and attached my name tag on my blazer. I quickly checked myself in the mirror, grabbed my backpack, and headed out the door.

Our school finished building the dorm rooms we stay in over the summer so it only takes me about 15 minutes to walk to my home room class.

I put on my airpods and shuffled a random playlist.

I started getting bullied by the popular students. They usually make me buy them snacks or write comments on my desk but they wouldn't physically harm me. Well, the worst they've done was push me to the floor. But that was only once. I only have 2 friends: Kim Sunoo, who is my absolute best friend, and Nishimura Niki, who I've known since I was little. I wanted to tell them what was happening to me, but they were always busy with sport practices. So most of time I have to rely on myself and no one else. I kind of got used to it.

I reached the field in front of the school where there were already students doing their morning practices. The main sport of our school was soccer and track, so everyone was already preparing hard for upcoming games. I've never actually been to a game before because I'm not too interested in watching people run around for a few hours.

I was about to walk up the stairs to the courtyard when a couple of students ran past me knocking my shoulder. I was heading straight to the ground when I felt someone grab my waist.

"Are you okay??" a voice said said infront of me.

I slowly opened my eyes where I met another student I've never seen before. He had black hair and doe shaped eyes.

Once I realized he was still holding me, I quickly got up and softly pushed him away.

"I'm fine, thanks." I said, avoiding eye contact.

He picked up my phone that I had dropped and handed it to me.

"I wonder why those students were running so fast." He said breaking the silence between us.

I quickly processed what he said and checked the time on my phone. It was 7:58 AM.

Oh shoot.

"I'm sorry, I really have to get to class or I'll be late." I said starting to turn around.

"Wait, what class are you in?" He said grabbing my wrist.

"Class 107. Why?"

"I'm in that class too!" He said smiling. He started running up to the courtyard with me, still holding my wrist.

Soon, we reached the outside of our class. I walked in first and bowed to the teacher.

"Why are you late to my class? It's the first day of school, you should know better." A few people giggled at me.

Just as he was about to say more, the boy I came with walked up to him.

"It was my fault sir. I'm new here and she was just showing me around the school." Wow, I didn't expect him to stand up for me as we just met a few minutes ago.

"Oh, I see... y/n, why don't you go have a seat first?" I nodded and quickly glanced the class for an empty seat.

There was two empty ones in the back near the window. I saw Sunoo and Niki. I'm actually really glad we have class together this year.

We shared a little wave together and I walked to the window seat, a few rows away from them, trying not to make eye contact with the other students who were staring directly at me.

The teacher turned to the boy started again once I was sat in my seat.

"Why don't you introduce yourslf to the class?"

The boy nodded and stepped infront to view the students closer.

"My name is Lee Heeseung, I'm 17 years old, and I'm looking forward to learning with you all." He said as he flashed a little smile.

"Alright class, please welcome him and help him get around school for the next few days. Heeseung, you can take that last seat in the back."

He bowed slightly and walked to the seat to my right. He made a quick glance to me and we made eye contact for a moment until I broke it from it being a bit awkward.

As the teacher left the room after he gave us materials to work on by ourselves, I started hearing whispers between the students about Heeseung. Lots of girls were saying he was cute and handsome and some of the guys were talking about inviting him to lunch and soccer practice. Jeez, everyone is already all over him. I put my AirPods in since I finished the work quickly and put my head on the desk.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes realizing I had fallen asleep. I took my AirPods and and looked up to see Sunoo standing above me.

"It's lunch time," he said. I took a quick look around the class to see that everyone had already left to the cafeteria or outside to eat.
"Oh, thanks." I replied and got up to go to the cafeteria.

After I got my food, I met up with Sunoo and we went to an empty table in the cafeteria and sat down to start eating. Niki soon joined us.

"So who was that guy you were with?" Sunoo asked me.

"Heeseung? I don't really know him, I just ran into him this morning."

"Do you like him??" Niki teased. I playfully rolled my eyes and we continued talking.

After the bell rang, I stayed back a bit to finish my homework and Niki and Sunoo left for class.

"Ahh, look what we have here," a girl said in front of us. I looked up to see it was Kim Minji and her friends. My bullies to be exact.

"I still don't understand why those handsome guys are friends with someone like you!" she said as she laughed with her friends.

I was about to get up to leave when someone pushed me to sit back down.

"You aren't going anywhere," a guy said. Of course, it was Hak Yijin, my ex, who cheated on me last year and was actually dating Minji.

"What do you guys want??" I said glaring at them.

"We just wanna chat and catch up," Minji said sarcastically.

"Oh, please." I rolled my eyes. "Just go and leave me alone for once." They stared and laughed at me.

"I'm leaving," I said as I got up to walk away. But before I could, Yijin grabbed my wrist. But I felt his hand release almost immediately.

I turned to see what happened, and I saw Heeseung standing infront of Yijin and the others.

"Leave her alone or I'll call the teachers." He said in a cold voice.

Yijin suddenly got up and threw his arm to punch Heeseung, but he caught and stopped his punch. There were still a lot of students here so the attention in the cafeteria had already been drawn to them and a few even started recording.

Yijin and Minji seemed to notice, so them and their friends left and walked out of the cafeteria.

I sat back down and I guess Heeseung decided to sit with me. I don't understand why he did that, it almost made me a bit upset because now Minji and her friends might come for me after school.

"Look, I get that you're just trying to help but I've got it." I said to Heeseung.

"What?" He just looked at me confused.

"You're new anyways. Don't make enemies on the first day." I said as I left to my next class.

Once the bell rang, I gathered my stuff and walked over to Sunoo and Niki. I was about to put my AirPods in again until Heeseung came up to us.

"Hey guys!" he said.

"Wanna hang out with us today?" Sunoo asked.

"Oh, umm... I actually have work today in a little bit." I quickly said as an excuse. Which is true though, I'm not just making anything up.

"You work? Why?" Heeseung asked.

"Don't worry about it." I said as I got up. It's because my family kinda cut me off for a while, so I have to pay my own dorm rent, food, and other essentials myself. It wasn't because I got in trouble or anything, they just want me to learn how to provide for myself.

"Oh shoot, we have soccer practice, sorry. Oh which reminds me, you should come by the field today to try out for the team!" Sunoo said.

"Oh okay, well I have to get settled in my dormitory anyways. I'll see you later!" He said with a smile.

I'm not sure why, but everytime I see his smile, it makes my heart kinda flutter.

I got to the dormitory building to change and get ready for work when I bumped into Heeseung outside my dorm.

"Oh hey y/n," He faced me.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm trying to figure out the room code to get in, for some reason it's not working." Weird, why my dorm?

"Are you sure this is your dorm?" He handed me his room info card and it clearly states the same room on the door.

"Heeseung, are you moving into my dorm?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I just bought it for this year and-" He paused and looked up at me all puzzled.

"Wait, YOUR dorm?"

I ended up editing it quite a bit 💀 sorry about that, i just found my writings cringey lol
