CHAPTER 7

Reluctantly my eyes flickered open to voices arguing in a hushed tone, my whole body ached and even though I'd been asleep, I felt exhausted, like every ounce of energy I had in my body had been drained out of me. I felt cold, lifeless almost as my eyes trailed along the dozens of glass bottles filled with potions that cluttered the table by my bed, along with a few get well cards. The curtains were drawn around my bed allowing me some privacy as I tried to remember what had happened, my memories seemed to be in a blurred mess and I couldn't remember a single thing. Hushed voices caught my attention as I sat up slightly in the bed, listening as the conversation got more heated.

"The girl needs to know. It's already begun for God's sake." I recognised Professor Snape's dull tone straight away, although this time there was a small hint of urgency and concern in his voice.

"Miss Ravenwood will be told, but for now she needs to get her health back. As soon as I think she is fully well, I shall call her to my office." Professor Dumbledore said in a soft tone trying to calm the situation, I saw the curtains twitch out of the corner of my eye as Professor Mcgonagall walked in a gentle and kind smile spreading across her face as she saw I was finally awake.

"Miss Ravenwood it's great to see that you're awake! I've got some people who wish to see you, do you want me to let them in?" I nodded as she drew back the curtains, Harry, Ron, Hermione and of course Veronica came walking towards my bed. Veronica ran in front of the others her face overcome with happiness.

"Rose! Finally, you're awake! You been in a coma for nearly two weeks!" My mouth dropped open when I realised what she'd said.

Nearly two weeks?

Sitting there stunned Veronica gave me a quick hug before leaving allowing me some privacy with the others as she promised she'd visit me again later in the day. I looked up at Harry, Ron and Hermione who all got chairs and pulled them up around my bed.

"I'm glad you're awake, you've been out of it for ages," Ron exclaimed, to which I responded with a weak smile.

"Well, I'm glad you're back... Erm- I mean we're all glad your back. Potions has been awful without you and Snape has been in such a foul mood recently." Harry said as both Ron and Hermione nodded their heads in agreement.

"Well, I'm glad to be back too. Being left in complete darkness for two weeks isn't exactly fun." I tried to joke and received a few laughs off them, my voice slightly sore and croaky.

"Rose did they ever find out what caused your... Well, you know, what happened?" Hermione questioned as memories from that night finally began to flicker through my mind. I sat in silence for a minute remembering what I heard the Professors discussing when I had woken up.

"No um, I haven't spoken to Madam Pomfrey yet." I managed to speak without my voice cracking.

"Right come on now, Miss Ravenwood needs to gain some strength. So I require you to leave as I try to fatten her up and put some life back into her again." Madam Pomfrey said as she ushered them out of the hospital wing, all of them waving to me before they rounded the corner.

"Right come on let's freshen you up a bit." Madam Pomfrey said as she grabbed my arm helping me to my feet, my legs shaking as I tried to keep my balance and walk straight, I was weaker than I thought.

"Right I'm going to take you to the Prefects bathroom where you can freshen up and I'll collect some clothes from your dorm for you." She instructed once I'd finally stopped wobbling and followed along beside her, still gripping onto her arm.

We slowly made our way to the prefect's bathroom, occasionally stopping so I could rest. When we eventually made it to the bathroom Madam Pomfrey began to run the bath, before closing the door behind herself to go fetch my clothes. I shakily made my way over to the mirror, the reflection which looked back at me was a completely different person. My hair was knotted. My skin was pale with dark circles around my red, weary eyes and the hospital gown hung on my body like a bag as I was now mostly skin and bones. Slowly I started to untie the back of the robe and let it slip off my shoulders to the floor.

I stood there looking back and the complete stranger who stared back at me. My ribs stuck out and the rest of my body looked so fragile, it was as if it could break at any moment. I felt anger building up inside of me as I was repulsed by my appearance which had so drastically changed. I squeezed my eyes shut clenching my fists, anger and frustration raging in my body.

The feeling was overwhelming. My nails began to dig into my palms as I let out a loud scream of frustration. The sound of shattering glass filling the room as my eyes shot open at the sudden sound, my breathing heavy as my eyes widened at the sight before me.

The mirror had smashed and hundreds of shards of glass now littered the floor. Slowly I bent down, picking up a shard of glass from the floor and bringing it up to my eye as terror rooted me to the spot. My normally green eyes had turned a fiery orange colour that burned brightly like flames of a fire.

What the hell?!

I stumbled back a few steps as I tried to calm myself whilst I shakily picked up my wand and fixed the mirror so that when Madam Pomfrey returned she wouldn't suspect anything. My breathing eventually returned to normal, the room now misty with steam as the bath was filled with bubbles of all colours and sizes. Slowly I climbed in, allowing my body to float and be supported by the water. I felt weightless, as the uncontrollable anger I felt finally began to subside. Lying there my mind began to question what had just happened.

How did I smash the mirror without even touching it?

What happened to my eyes?

My mind ran in circles, there were so many questions I didn't know the answers to but my train of thought was interrupted when I heard a gentle knock on the door.

"Are you okay Miss Ravenwood? I've gotten you some clothes can I come in?" Madam Pomfrey's sweet voice chirped from the other side of the door. Standing up I managed to climb out the bath and find a towel which I could wrap myself in, looking in the mirror my appearance had improved a bit now that my hair was clean. As well as an improvement in appearance I was now able to walk better, I no longer felt as weak and tired, so I made my way over to the door and unlocked it. Madam Pomfrey rushed through carrying some clothes for me to slip into.

"You're looking much better now dear! Right you need to get changed and if you feel like it I can take you down to the hall to have some food, you can sit with your friends. But I must insist that you spend tonight in the hospital wing so I can keep an eye on you, okay?"

"Yes, that's fine. Thank you," I replied giving her a smile.

"Now get changed and we can make our way down to the hall as it's already 6:30 pm." Madam Pomfrey exited the room and left me alone to get changed. I slipped on some black leggings, a striped baggy top and a hoodie. All of my clothes were oversized on me, they hung on my frail body. Looking in the mirror I flicked my wand and my hair immediately dried leaving it in natural waves. Quickly I slipped on a pair of black converse shoes and with Madam Pomfrey, I made my way through the castle to the great hall eager to eat.

"Now make sure you eat as much as you can, we need you to put some weight back on again. You lost quite a bit." Madam Pomfrey instructed me as we walked into the hall, everyones eye's turning in our direction. Instantly students started talking under their breaths about what had happened two weeks prior, making accusations as they turned to stare with judging eyes. Madam Pomfrey made her way over to the Professor's table to talk to Professor Snape as I went and sat down next to Veronica who had a beaming smile on her face while I walked towards her. She got up from the table and started running towards me with open arms which engulfed me into a warm hug. I stumbled back a bit as she practically threw herself onto me.

"I've missed you so much, Rose!" She said as she finally released me from her grip.

"I missed you too," I said smiling back at her and for the first time, it was a genuine smile. We made our way over to our places at the table and I was greeted by people who were smiling at my return. The feast began as the plates and bowls magically filled themselves with food which made my stomach almost growl with hunger. Immediately I began to tuck in and piled my plate with food, for the first time in a while I actually had an appetite and so I was going to make the most of it. But I guess that's what happens to you when you've been in a coma for nearly two weeks.

About twenty-minutes later people gradually finished their food and made their way out of the great hall surrounded by their friends as they laughed and joked around. Me and Veronica lingered behind as we had a lot of catching up to do. I was curious to hear how things had been whilst I was in the hospital wing.

"So what did I miss?" I asked intrigued.

"Well I visited you every day while you were in the hospital and when I came in on one of the days, Harry was sat on his own by your bed holding your hand. When he saw that I had walked in he immediately stood up and started walking towards me. Bless him, he was so embarrassed as he tried to explain himself to me, but I just told him to leave it and that his secret was safe with me." Veronica smiled as she nudged my shoulder, winking at me while I glared at her as she began to laugh at the expression on my face.

"Oh come on Rose, Harry's a nice guy and he genuinely cares about you. Your good looks are just a bonus. I don't understand why you're so annoyed whenever I mention it, I could understand if we were talking about the arrogant jerk that is Draco Malfoy... But it's Harry Potter, he's so nice and genuine. Come on, Roseeeee." I sat in silence for a moment as I remembered what had happened the night I'd fallen ill. If Draco hadn't have been there I could be dead for all I knew, guilt filled me at the thought that I hadn't seen Draco or been able to thank him for what he did. But at the same time I would probably only get an arrogant remark in response, so would it really be worth it? I shook the matter from my mind as Veronica walked me back to the hospital wing.

Veronica pleaded with Madam Pomfrey for probably about ten minutes, arguing back and forth with her to see if I could go back to the dorms. But Madam Pomfrey insisted that I needed to be kept a close eye on, so she eventually gave up and left to go back to her dorm in a huff. I flopped down onto my bed and closed my eyes, letting out a deep sigh. My mind flickered back to what I'd heard the Professors discussing earlier today and I couldn't help but wonder what they were on about. None of it made any sense to me and the fact that Professor Snape, who's usually emotionless, sounded concerned made me worry further. But quick footsteps soon gained my attention as they raced up the hospital wing and I quickly reopened my eyes to look up and see Professor Snape's stormy expression looking down at me.

"Miss Ravenwood, Madam Pomfrey assures me that you are on the road to recovery much quicker than anticipated. Therefore Professor Dumbledore and I require a moment of your time. Follow me." Snape muttered as he turned on his heal and started storming out of the hospital wing with me trailing after him confused.

Hastily we made our way to the entrance to Dumbledore's office.

"Chocolate Frog." Professor Snape snapped, clearly, he didn't find the password very funny. Soon enough we hurried up the steps which had revealed themselves and now stood outside two very elegant looking oak doors.

"Come on in Miss Ravenwood." Dumbledore's gentle voice called from behind the two doors which now began to open on their own. I walked into what at first looked like a small library, but as my eyes began to wander I saw Professor Dumbledore sitting in a big golden chair behind a desk equally as magnificent.

"Ah, Miss Ravenwood you are looking much better. I'm guessing you have a lot of questions as of right now?" He questioned me as I now stood awkwardly in front of his desk. I only managed to nod my head as anxiety and apprehension filled my body.

"From what I've been told you already know that your parents attended Hogwarts, am I correct?"

"Yes, Professor."

"Well, your mother and father both had the same experience as you in their fifth year. This is because they were only both witch and wizard. They were Ravearians too. A very, very powerful creature, they are stronger than any mythical creature that roams this earth, and their power is beyond anyone's comprehension. And it was because of this power that your mother and father were murdered by the Dark Lord. He wanted your parents to side with him as he knew that they were the only thing that stood in his way and he wanted to harness their power. But of course, they were not stupid and refused to switch sides. So the Dark Lord forcefully tried to harness their powers by torturing them and by doing so he killed them. Now because your parents knew that an attack was going to happen they removed any trace of your existence before they came so that you would be safe. The night your parents were killed some of their powers transferred themselves into you. You are like your mother and father Roseabell, you are a Ravearian too. But you. You are different. You are the last Ravearian to on this earth, therefore you are more powerful than any other of your kind... You are what they call  The Supreme Miss Ravenwood."
