CHAPTER 25

Everything else that happened next seemed to happen in slow motion. Ron ran over to Harry on the floor and picked him up in his arms while Hermione tried to calm me down. Her words seemed distant and whisper like as she tried to talk to me. I stood there looking at Harry who lay unconscious in Ron's arms tears gradually falling down my cheeks.

"Rose? Rose, we need to get Harry to the Hospital wing. We need to go now." Hermione said as she stood in front of me her hands on my arms as she tried to snap me out of my trance.

Soon we were running down the corridors which led to the hospital wing. Moonlight lit the corridors making them seem cold and eerie.

"What happened?" A stern voice said, as I looked up I realised that we had run into Professor Snape.

"Something bad happened to Harry, we need to get him to the hospital wing. But I think it's best if you take Rose to Professor Dumbledore he needs to know what's happened. It has something to do with... Voldemort..." Hermione said quickly. Professor Snape merely nodded as he walked over to me and grabbed me by the arm to lead me to Professor Dumbledores office. The next few moments were a blur as we rounded a corner and to both our surprise Draco was walking slowly down the corridor. His eyes filled with confusion as he saw Snape's tight grip on my arm and the black streaks down my face from my mascara. It stopped him in his path as he watched me get swept away up the stairs which led to Professor Dumbledores office.

We now stood outside Dumbledore's office as Professor Snape let go of my arm and pushed me towards Dumbledore who sat at his desk his glasses perched on the edge of his nose. I stood there wiping the tears off my face and breathing heavily as I tried to calm my nerves.

"Miss Ravenwood, would you like to inform us about what has happened?" Profess Dumbledore pressed gently. I took one last deep breath before I began to explain what had happened.

"Then the next minute he started screaming... It was as though someone else had inhabited his body. He squirmed on the floor, his eyes a pale glowing blue. His voice was someone else's it was bitter and cold... It was as if someone else was speaking..." I stopped as I ran the events over in my head, closing my eyes shut causing a single tear to trickle down my cheek. Dumbledore looked at me, his eyes were full of concern.

"And what did the voice say?" He asked gently pushing his glasses up his nose so he could see me better. I fiddled with my fingers before I looked up and stared him in the eyes, my eyes filling with tears.

"Voldemort... He knows who I am, he knows what I am." Silence hung in the air like a thick blanket, while both Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape tried to interpret what I had said. Instantly the atmosphere became tense.

"This is very serious. Special measures will have to be put in place to increase your safety while you are still at Hogwarts." Professor Dumbledore spoke quietly while I stood there furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"While I'm still at Hogwarts? What do you mean?" I asked my chest rising and falling quickly as I tried to piece together what he had said.

"Don't be so naive Miss Ravenwood. You know you can't stay here while there is such a big threat to your safety. If you stay here, not only you but many other students could also get hurt. I'm guessing what Professor Dumbledore is saying is that it would be best if you go back to your Aunt until the threat subsides. You'll be much safer there. Besides if you had worn your necklace tonight maybe none of this would have happened. You need to wear it at all times. It protects you from things like this." Professor Snape spoke angrily, as I stood there tears threatening in my eyes.

"I think it'd be best if you return to your dorm now. Begin to pack some of your belongings, it'll help us get you to safety quicker. It's for your own good Roseabell. Meet Professor Snape by the main entrance. You'll board the Hogwarts Express tonight and begin your journey back to your Aunts. " Professor Dumbledore spoke softly as I turned and walked out of his office tears falling down my face.

I walked through the empty corridors running my hands along the cold stone lost in my thoughts. Gradually I made my way over to hospital wing, when I walked through the doors Harry was sat up in his bed with Hermione and Ron perched on the edge. When they heard my footsteps they turned around small smiles on their faces.

"Hey," Hermione said quietly as I pulled up a chair and sat next to them. They could tell something had happened by my drained appearance.

"What's happened?" Hermione asked as she placed a hand on my shoulder. I sat there for a moment in silence before I looked up out of the massive stained glass window.

"I have to leave. For my safety and the students. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone for." Hermione immediately flung her arms around me and pulled me into a long meaningful hug. When she pulled away from her eyes we glazed with tears.

"Don't cry you'll make me cry. Anyway, I'll write if I'm allowed." I said with a small smile on my face.

"Rose I can't begin to explain how sorry I am..." Harry began but I placed my hand on his causing him to stop mid-sentence.

"Let's be honest it would have happened sooner or later. Anyway, I've got to go back to my dorm and start to pack... I just want to thank you for being here for me, through everything." I said while I hugged each one of them individually. We all said our goodbyes and by the end Hermione had tears trickling down her cheeks but I couldn't help but notice the glimpse of white hair I saw peering around the corner.

When I left the hospital wing I let the tears fall. I didn't know whether I'd see them again. They had been the only true friends I had in my life and saying goodbye hurt. As I walked the empty corridors I couldn't help but feel as though I was being followed. Slowly tears fell down my cheeks as I now stood outside of the wall that led to the Slytherin common room. I wiped away the tears and tried to calm myself, after all, I didn't know who would be in there.

Soon I was surrounded by the green gloom of the Slytherin common room, and to my surprise the majority of students were still up and talking amongst themselves. As I walked towards the stairs everyone's eyes watched me and out of the corner of my eye, I could see Draco walking through the door behind me. His eyes shifted towards me before he slowly began to walk towards me, I quickened my pace as I walked up the steps and into my dorm.

I walked over to my bed and pulled out my trunk which was underneath my bed. Suddenly the door burst open, I looked up to see Draco closing the door and walking towards me. I stood up quickly wiping away the tears on my face. Draco's eyes quickly darted around the room at the empty drawer and packed trunk on my bed.

"So it's true, you're leaving then?" He asked his voice cracking slightly with emotion on the last word. I stood there looking at him as my breathing quickened and tears formed in my eyes. In one swift motion, Draco walked over to me placing his hands on either side of my face. His stormy grey eyes felt like they were staring into my soul before he placed his lips on mine and began to kiss me passionately. My hands gradually reached up and tugged on his hair, as his hands roamed over my body. I felt as though I was on fire as moans escaped both of our mouths. He gently tugged on my lips making me melt into his arms. The gaping hole which I had felt in my heart felt as though it had been sewn up, and all at once every single emotion erupted in my body. Slowly Draco pulled away from our foreheads resting against each other's, our breathing was heavy as he rubbed my cheek with his giant hand.

"Please don't go." He whispered in my ear as we stood there in each other's arms.

"I have to... There's no way around it. Believe me, if there was any other option besides this I would take it." I said as tears fell down both our faces. We stood in silence for a few moments, neither of us sure on what to say to comfort the other. I brought my hand up to his face and wiped away the single tear which had fallen.

"Please don't leave me..." He said as he pulled me into his arms. I pulled away and looked up into his eyes, they looked stormy and full of pain. My heart ached as I looked into them.

"Draco... I love you." I said as I let go of his face and planted a kiss on his lips.

"I'll come back I promise." Quickly I picked up my trunk and left him standing in the room as I began to walk to where Professor Snape said he'd meet me.

Soon I had boarded the Hogwarts Express and was flying through vast countryside. Raindrops slid down the window as I sat there with my head pressed against the cool glass. Tears slipped down my cheeks as I gripped the crystal necklace around my neck, Professor Snape sat there staring at the seat in front of him with no flicker of emotion on his face. I was leaving the place where I had created some of my happiest memories of my life, and that hole in my chest which had been sewn shut had been ripped open again. Leaving me feeling empty and cold.
