:::Deadly Encounters:::

:::Ava Bellemoore:::
We were at Jerry's Burger Joint, laughing and talking. It made me feel like I've known them for so long.
Scott seemed to be warming up to me. I understood why he didn't like me. Most people didn't like the idea that I had the power to kill at my fingertips: literally.
And as much as I wanted to continue to eat, get brain freezes, and laugh about the stupidest things, I knew I still had work needed to be done.
I needed money, and I needed Kit and Alice to be able to go back home; back to freedom.
And I wasn't planning on telling anyone how I was planning to get that money. They just started to like me, and I wasn't going to ruin it now. Besides, they've known me for two days.
Wow, it feels so much longer.
My phone buzzed with a text message. I quickly looked at it.
Parker Dale, 35 years old. Rapist. Old Grey Alleyway. $10,000 dead, $20,000 tortured.
I gulped. Okay, I wasn't going to torture a guy, but death was enough. Ten thousand dollars was enough.
Where was Old Grey Alleyway anyway? I started to look it up on my phone.
How funny, because the alley is in between Jerry's Burger Joint and Tiffany's Nail Salon.
I stood up quickly and put a fake smile on my face. I turned to Stiles, "I forgot something in the car. I'll be right back."
"Want me to come with?"
"No, I'll be quick."
He seemed unsure. Damn, Stiles was too much of a gentlemen.
"Are you-"
"Yes, I'll be quick." At that, I practically ran out and went straight to the alley.
It was dark. I was glad I could see well in the dark.
I heard some mumbling, groaning, and a smothered scream. My body tensed up as I raced further into the dark alley.
After a while, I could finally see him. He wore a dark black ski mask and black leather gloves that was covering the mouth of a young woman with ripped up clothing.
He seemed to notice I was standing there, because he turned towards me with a glimmering knife in hand.
My heart sank. He walked slowly to me, and I just played a girl frozen in fear.
He titled his head when he got close to me, and then without even a hesitation, I gripped his wrist that held the weapon and squeezed. The knife dropped to the floor, and I gripped his throat with the other hand and felt his body lose it's heat. His skin began to go cold and turn blue. He opened his mouth and let out a choked sob, and I watched as a tiny white orb - his pathetic soul - escape his mouth.
His lifeless body fell to the floor and I quickly grabbed the soul.
It was small, and I wanted to laugh at how pathetic he was. But, my stomach growled.
I placed the orb in my mouth, feeling my mouth water with satisfaction. I felt my eyes glow yellow as the energy filled my body.
Then I remembered someone was watching.
I looked over at the partially naked woman. Her eyes were wide in fear, tears streaming down her cheeks as she looked at me in terror.
I placed my finger to my mouth, "Shh." I hushed quietly. I began to walk out of the alleyway.
Only to run into Scott freakin' McCall.

:::Scott McCall:::
I couldn't believe what I witnessed.
I should believe it, giving the amount of supernatural creatures I have seen. But this? This was insane.
One minute he was standing there, and the next he was just dead.
No logical explanation behind it. Just...purely supernatural.
And then she did something with her hands as if she was grabbing something. She looked at it, but I couldn't even see anything.
Then she put it in her mouth and her eyes began to glow yellow. She turned to the crying woman and whispered "shh" before turning back towards me.
She stopped in her tracks when she saw me. I stood my ground, not realizing my claws had came out, my teeth sharpened, and my eyes red.
"What the hell was that?"
"She was about to be raped." She said simply, as if Death was the only answer.
"You killed him."
She bit her lip, "Yes, but he was about to attack me. It was a...first instinct, I guess."
She walked passed me and began walking to her red jeep.
I followed, anger still visible. I shifted back to normal.
"You didn't need to kill him though."
"I just told you, I didn't mean to!"
I titled my head, listening for a lie.
Her heart was steady.
I gulped.
Maybe it really was just...an accident.
"So when the body is found-"
She gulped and rested her head on her jeep window. For the first time ever, it looked like she wasn't totally calm and collected.
I mean, she didn't have the holy crap I killed someone look on her face, but still. She looked stressed.
I took a deep breath and ran a hand through my messy hair.
"It will look like he froze to death. They'll be suspicious, but who isn't in this town?" She said.
I bit my lip, "what about the girl? She witnessed-"
"No one will believe her, Scott. The humans wont at least."
I didn't really like the way she said "humans." But I chose to ignore it.
"So we just leave her there?"
"I mean, I would be glad to give an anonymous 911 call so I don't have to talk with the police and the woman doesn't have to identify me as a killer, but last time I did that-"
"Last time?!"
She rolled her eyes, "No. Last time I anonymously called 911, it was for a missing person that I...found. And it lead back to me, and just...no, okay? You go ahead, But I can't risk being found-" she gulped. Her heart skipped a beat.
"Are you running from the police or something?" I asked, looking at her finally lean away against the jeep.
"Not the police."
I swallowed, "then who?"
She bit her lip and looked away. She took one step towards the burger joint but I stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.
"Who? And Why? Maybe we could...help." Did I even want to help? Maybe there was a reason she was running.
She cleared her throat awkwardly and I let my hands fall to my side.
"My ex-boyfriend."
"Why? Was he abusive or something?" I asked, suddenly sounding concerned. It was then that I saw her blue eyes were filled with tears.
"He killed my pack. I only have two-" she took a deep breath and closed her eyes before opening them again. She swallowed, "His pack is after me. But no, Scott. I don't want you to get involved."
"Why not? We can-"
"No, you and everyone can get killed. I don't want that. Especially for-" she stopped. Was she about to say Stiles?
"It won't."
"You don't know the things he is capable of, Scott."
"Then tell me."
She leaned against the jeep again and stared at her feet. "You know those stories where people back then would find out a supernatural creature exist, then they go on a witchhunt?"
I gulped. "Yeah?"
"Our generation is a little different now. You'd be surprised how so many people would revert to saying "that's so cool" instead of "you're a monster."" She gulped again, "But when you get certain people involved: men of science, of politics, of war. People who are power-crazy..." She took a deep breath and finally looked up again, "Then you have a whole other story. The ones where freaks are locked up like prisoners in government facilities, being experimented on-"
"Is that real?" I wasn't sure if I wanted to know.
"Somewhat." She bit her lip, "They don't work directly with the government. They're hunters, in a way. But scientists?" She shook her head, "They are the ones that see what kills and harms certain supernaturals, how to anger one, how to train one into a perfect fighter. How to make them less than human."
My heart sank as I imagined it. Imagined Ava, my pack, even me being experimented on. It was terrifying.
"My ex-boyfriend's pack, well, he had contacts. With the russians, with hunters, with other supernaturals. He wanted me to be a perfect killing-machine. I refused, now he's trying to find me." She let a tear escape, "I'm not sure what I'm doing, Scott. I'm starting over, pretending it's not real. Im in high school when I actually already graduated, as if the life before this wasn't real."
I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, "We'll figure something out."
She took a deep breath then sat up straighter, "don't make promises you can't keep."
Then, she wiped her tears and headed back to the burger joint.
