Chapter 9

Napoleon's Pov
I looked away from where Quincy's car had been and faced Shannon. She was trembling and had tears running down her face.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
Shannon looked up and nodded.
She then hugged me tightly.
"Thank you Napoleon," she said.
Then suddenly I realized something. I was feeling something that I had never felt towards anyone before. I just didn't know what it was. Was I too dumb to even know what I was thinking? To know what I was feeling?
"That was a pretty hard hit," Illya said as I broke away from the hug.
"He deserved it," I said looking at my red knuckles.
"Lets go back to the Hotel," Illya said, "it's been a rough night."

We made it back to the hotel and Illya and Gaby hung around in our room for a little while. Finally they went back to their room to go to sleep.

April 1965
We had gotten a letter from Lucas. A lot of the army that was after us had been killed or arrested. Lucas claimed there was twenty men left and that they think our location had been leaked and that they were on their way to us right now.
"What are we going to do?" Illya asked.
"I don't know," I replied, "maybe we should stay here and fight them off."
"I don't know," Illya said, "it seems too risky."
"It's the only way we'll be able to come out of hiding," I said,
"we've been here for months."
"Alright," he replied, "I will go tell Gaby the news."
Illya exited the hotel room and to go back to his room.
I walked out on the balcony and sat beside Shannon.
"When are they coming?" She asked.
"I don't know," I replied, "but probably any day now."
I looked out at the buildings and saw a man dressed in black on a rooftop. I felt like we made eye contact. I started to get a weird feeling in my stomach.
"Go inside," I said standing up.
"What?" Shannon asked.
"Go inside," I said sternly grabbing her by the wrist. I pushed her inside. I slid the glass door shut.
"What's going on?" She asked crossing her arms.
Suddenly bullets started pelting through the glass door causing it to shatter. Then bullets started to fly through walls.
"Get down!" I said. I threw myself to the ground pulling Shannon with me.
I looked and saw the man had been joined by two other men and they all had guns pointed in our direction.
"Let's get out of here," I said, "stay down."
We crawled towards the door. I opened it and we stood up quickly and ran out of the room bullets pelting against the walls behind us. We ran all the way to Illya and Gaby's room. I kicked down the door.
"Get down!" I yelled.
"What?" Illya asked.
Suddenly bullets shot through the glass. Gaby threw herself to the ground. A bullet grazed past Illya's arm. Illya grabbed his arm and yelled out in pain. Shannon and I got down on the ground.
"What is happening?" Gaby asked.
"They've found us," I said, "and they're trying to kill us."
I looked underneath the bed and grabbed Illya's suitcase. I opened it out and grabbed one of his gun.
I crawled around the bed and into the corner. I stood up and look out the window trying to hide myself.
I shot at one of the men, taking them down. I shot at another man then missed. Then another bullet flew through the room and shot a picture frame. The frame fell to the ground and shattered into pieces. Suddenly I heard gun shots from behind me but I was too busy to see how it was because all of the men had been taken down. I looked behind me and saw that Shannon was holding a gun. She had shot the rest of the men down.
"I didn't know you knew how to use a gun," I said to Shannon.
"I didn't either," she replied.
"Impressive," I said unloading the gun and then throwing it onto the bed.
"We need to stay somewhere else," Gaby said.
"You're right," I replied. "Pack important things...we're leaving in ten minutes."

We ran out of the building passing people running to where the action had happened. We called a taxi and got in the car. Illya walked around to the driver's seat and opened the door.
"Hey," the taxi driver said, "get in the back.
Illya pulled the taxi driver up by his college and threw him out of the ground and onto the sidewalk. Illya got in the driver's seat and put his hands on the steering wheel. Gaby sat beside him and Shannon and I sat in the back.
"Where to?" Illya said fixing his mirror.
"Let's just drive," I said, "we just need to get out of here."
