Chapter 6

Illya's Pov
I tightened my tie and gave myself one last look in mirror. I turned to face Gaby.
"Do I look good?" I asked.
"Yes," she replied.
I was wearing a white shirt, a black blazer, black pants, black dress shoes, and a black tie. Gaby was wearing a simple light red dress with her hair pinned up. Somehow she looked better than I would ever look.
"You look amazing," I said kissing her on the cheek. "Lets go get Napoleon and Shannon."
We exited our room and made our way Napoleon's room. I knocked on the door. Napoleon opened it. He was wearing a white shirt with a navy blue blazer with a red tie. He had on khaki pants with brown dress shoes.
"Where's Shannon?" I asked.
"In the bathroom," Napoleon replied, "she's been in there for hours."
Finally we heard a door shut. Shannon walked toward us. She wore a black dress with black heels. Her hair was completely straightened. I had just realized that I had never seen her not wear black. Maybe it was her favorite color.
"I'm ready," Shannon said.
"You look nice," Gaby said.
"Pretty dress," I said.
"You look fine," Napoleon said plainly stuffing his hands inside of his pockets and exiting the room.

We got a taxi and arrived at the building the ball was being held at. We entered the building. There were tables pushed against the wall and a food bar beside it. There was a stage with a live band playing and the rest of the room was a large dance floor.
"So where is this guy?" Gaby asked as we made our way to a table.
"I'm not sure," I replied, "Shannon, don't you know what he looks like?"
"I was eight years old when he left town and he was twenty," Shannon said, "so I might recognize him...he would be thirty now so I don't think he would have changed that much."
"Do you see him now?" I asked.
"No not yet," Shannon replied.
"Would you like to dance Gaby?" I asked Gaby.
"Yes," Gaby said taking my hand. We went onto the dance floor joining the other people. I wrapped my arms around her waist as she lied her head on my chest and we started dancing to the rhythm of the music.
