Chapter 13

Napoleon's Pov
"Go check on Shannon," Illya said, "see if she's found anything."
I nodded and went to the back of the truck. She wasn't there. I instantly panicked.
"She's not in here!" I exclaimed.
Gaby and Illya came to the back of the truck. Suddenly, outside, I heard a car door slam. I walked outside and saw a man stepped into a truck. And in the small space between the fabric that covered the truck I saw Shannon.
"SHANNON," I yelled.
The truck started moving and I started running after it. The truck started moving faster and I started running faster thinking I would be able to catch up with the truck.
"SHANNON," I kept yelling thinking it would do something. "SHANNON."
Anger and sadness rose up inside of me as I became to realize that I wouldn't catch up with the truck. The truck then went full speed and I stopped running. I dropped to the ground and hung my head.
After a couple of seconds I heard Illya and Gaby catch up with me. Illya placed a hand on my shoulder.
"It's alright," he said, "we found a map."
As I heard those words I was no longer sad. I got a feeling I really never felt towards someone before; hatred. I felt hatred. I had never hated anyone before and I had never been so serious. And I think Gaby and Illya agreed. I raised my head feeling my face turn red as I stared at the moving truck in the distance. Beads of sweat started running down my forehead.
"Napoleon?" Gaby said in a confused tone.
"I've never seen him like this," Illya said quietly.
"We need to go and kill all of them," Napoleon said, "make sure nobody is left alive...make them all suffer in pain and die a slow death. We need to get Shannon back...NOW."

We all walked back to the truck and got in. I sat in the driver's seat and looked at the map. I then took off at full speed in our destination.

We came upon an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. We stopped the truck and got out. We walked inside slowly with our guns gripped in our hands. I closed the door behind us slowly as we entered the dark and cold room. The windows were covered showing barley any light in the warehouse. I exhaled as I felt my fingers start to go numb.

"I got a bad feeling about this," I said.

"So glad you all could join," I heard a familiar voice say.

Gaby, Illya, and I froze in our tracks. Suddenly a light flipped on and in an armchair sat Lucas Potter. And beside him in a wooden chair sat Shannon with tap around her mouth and she was tied to the chair. She looked at us with tears swelling in her eyes.

"Lucas?" Illya asked in disbelief.

"I led you right into my trap!" Lucas exclaimed with a sour laugh.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Well to get rid of you all," Lucas replied, "I can't have people chasing after me when I get down to business..."

"Business?" Gaby asked, "What business?"

"There's a small part of the town I live in in Ireland that's mostly run by gangs and well," he said, "I've made my way to the top of the food chain and nobody is going to stop me. That's why we used Shannon. We knew at least Napoleon would come after her...because of his strong love for her. He couldn't have made it more obvious..."

I gulped and looked away from Shannon.

"What do you want from us?" I asked.

"Nothing," Lucas replied, "just for you all to be dead...unless we can make a compromise."

"Depends on what it is," I said.

"We could just kill Napoleon...we know you all are nothing without him," Lucas said, "or you can fight us...of course you will all lose."

"Us?" Illya asked.

"I have men all around this warehouse," Lucas replied, "you just can't see them. So what is it going to be Napoleon? Let us kill you and risk your friends' lives?"

"Take me," I said, "if that's what it takes."

"Alright," Lucas said, "we will give you time to say your goodbyes."

All of the lights turned off and then we heard some footsteps moving through the room. The lights turned back on and it was Illya, Gaby, Shannon, and I. Shannon had been untied and the tape was removed from her mouth. Gaby had tears swelling in her eyes.

"You were a good friend," she said hugging me and sobbing.

"You were a good friend too," I said quietly.

We hugged for a little while longer then I walked over to Illya. He hugged me then whispered into my ear.

"You have a plan don't you?" Illya whispered.

"No," I whispered back. "But that doesn't mean I won't try."

He chuckled lightly and then backed away.

I walked towards Shannon. She charged into me hugging me tightly, sobbing into my chest. She then looked up at me. She stared into my eyes, her tears making her eyes sparkle. I was so in love with her. She started to lean in to kiss me but I stopped her.

"Don't kiss me," I said, "that's the worst way to say goodbye. If you do you will be in pain."

"Maybe I want to be in pain," she said.

"Trust me," I replied, "you don't."

I let go of her slowly watching a tear slide down her rosy cheeks.

Lucas walked into the room again. At the sound of his voice I started to think that I really might die. I stood there for a long time, deciding whether I wanted to do this or not. We could fight him, but I didn't want to risk my friends, I didn't want Shannon to die.

"Let's go Napoleon!" Lucas yelled.

"My mother calls me Napoleon," I said quietly.

Lucas then punched me in the nose and I fell to the ground and everything soon went black.
