26: Name Game

~Remy~

"Emma?"

I suggest as I was Rowan carefully measure the ingredient needed for one of their healing potions. Rowan pauses for a second with a small groan and raises their brow at me.

"Emma? That's the most basic name I've heard out of your mouth so far. Now, are you going to keep suggesting names or let me actually get some work done baby?" They smile as they try to reprimand my impatience and I lean back in the hospital bed.

"Fine, I'll leave you alone...for now," I add and they go back to putting small crushed leaves in a toothpaste-like substance. Watching Rowan's work is one of my favorite things to do these days since they put so much effort into their work. Currently, they're trying to create a medical collection of potions and salves to have on hand instead of making them the moment they're needed.

Today Rowan's currently wearing one of my red flannels with black leggings since none of their shirts fit anymore and mine are a size bigger. It fits so perfectly over their cute pregnant bump that just quietly staring at Rowan like this makes my heart skip a beat.

"Rowan," I sigh their name after they poured the ingredients to weigh them and they pause. Placing the small vial on the scale before stepping back and glancing at me once more.

"No, we're not naming the baby after me," Rowan chuckles like the adorable being they are and I just want to kiss them and squeeze them to my heart's content.

"That's not what- I mean we can if you want to. RJ is kind of cute," I smirk and Rowan just rolls their eyes at me.

"Not for our little girl," they say as they carefully run their hands over the bump where our baby was growing. A baby girl that's been loved by both of her parents from the moment she was discovered.

"Hmm, I suppose you're right, but it doesn't have to stand for Rowan Junior. It could be, oh I dunno, Rhonda Janis?" I suggest and Rowan laughs so hard they snort which makes my uncontrollable smile widen so much so that it's painful.

"I was thinking of something sweet, like Clementine or Sakura," They suggest and make their way over to me, taking a break from their science experiments just for little old me. It means the world to me that no matter what Rowan's doing, I always come first. Just as they always come first to me.

"I like Clementine," I mutter into their soft pillowy stomach when I pull them close. Kissing Rowan's belly where our beautiful daughter was hiding. I can feel her soft fluttering kicks as I run my hand around where her little feet were on their side and Rowan places their hand over mine.

"She's going to be a really sweet and relaxed baby. I can feel it in her little movements. You know, I've always been scared of being pregnant cause I thought it was going to mess with my gender but being with you makes it easy. I want a ton of kids as long as it's with you," Rowan says out loud and I'm at a loss of words. It's not easy to make me emotional but this was just one of those things I always dreamed of but thought I'd never get with my last mate.

But now I have Rowan.

"I'm sorry, maybe that was a little forward. I mean we can just have this little one and I'll be perfectly happy as long as you're happy," Rowan quickly apologizes when I don't respond and I stand up.

"No, don't leave. I-"

"Rowan, we'll have as many kids as you want whenever you want because I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Not just as my mate but as my spouse," I tell Rowan honestly and they raise their brow.

"You don't mean," they stop talking when I pull the small diamond ring out of my pocket.

"Oh, Rowan the rogue, will you marry me?" I ask and they just break down into tears.

"Yes!" They cry out and jump into my arms without warning, covering me in small kisses as I hold them close.

Asking your mate to marry you wasn't a right, it was a privilege. I had learned that lesson after I asked Vanessa and she rejected me over and over again.

But Rowan isn't Vanessa and deserves nothing but the very best from me.

"Rowan and Remy Kailea," Rowan sighs in my ear as they relax into my arms.

"No, Rowan, Remy, and Clementine," I mention the little baby girl kicking away against my gut and Rowan giggles a bit.

"I love you baby,"

"I love you too,"
